  1. Curious....would it work as an upgrade to my existing El Capitan Optiplex 790 or require install from scratch?
  2. I agree. I jumped in the water after googling hackintosh and landing here.....out of all the prebuilt articles I found I was glad I tried this one. Picked up a Optiplex 780 off of Ebay for $60. After about 2 weeks of trying things it has worked flawlessly for months - even after 2 El Capitan updates. This forum gets credit. Most of my issue was simply not getting it or not carefully following the instructions. I had so much fun I got a second one off of Ebay and did it again. My Dell 780 will run until I have a power outage. With an SSD it is very responsive. You can pick up the 780's off of craiglist or Ebay for well under $100.
  3. I went with this one from the XFX and it worked great! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004U4WYLU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00
  4. Is there a preffered way to change the resolution on my Hackintosh? Right now it defaults to 1280X1024 and thats fine for the monitor I have it on. I wanted to try it out on my kitchen HDMI TV that only supports 1024X768. It would be great to have the option to change it back and forth. Is there a free app available that can do this similar to the way windows handles screen resolutions? Thanks!
  5. I installed the TP-link wifi dongle it it works great. Thanks!
  6. Installed with the kext wizard and ran the command...rebooted and still no luck. I will go ahead and order the one that you mentioned to see if that works. Thanks.
  7. No wifi adapter shows up in Network Config. When i try to launch the wireless config util it just flashes and never opens.
  8. Yes, I rebooted. I may go ahead and get the same one you got. Thanks!
  9. It installed fine...still doesnt see the wifi adapter. It may be incompatible with El Capitan. THe drivers show that it works with 10.8 and below.
  10. I figured I would ask before I do it ..... I have my Optiplex running great. Everything works and its pretty quick with the SSD. I would like to get a wireless adapter working. I bought this from Amazon.... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0069LOX7K?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 After researching I found a number of posts where others have it working.....I plugged it in and no go so I figure I need to install a driver. This looks to be a realtek based dongle. Looking for suggestions on which one to try?
  11. The clone works great! Much much faster now! Thanks!
  12. Others have reported using it fine but my build was doing the same thing as yours. Polyzargone suggested taking the card out and booting with the on board video. That did the trick for me. I changed to an ASUS model 5450 from amazon and it seemed fine with that one.
  13. He's using the same video card that gave me trouble. The XFX 5450.
