  1. Intel unveils Nehalem for mobile, new macs ahead?

The current Mac Pro's use Nalehem based Xeons that have 4 cores and 8 threads and run triple channel DDR3 and is the same core as the i7.
  2. I'm not sure if you can with mac's but you might be able to put the OS X installer on a flash drive, there's plenty of tutorials for that on this forum. And a 6 mhz variation from what your processor is rated to be is common and probably happens in every processor in the market. Infact if you have an application that watches the exact clock speed of your processor it does vary slightly in probably +/-10mhz
  3. Official HFS+ Drivers for Windows in Snow's Bootcamp

MacDrive both takes up precious RESOURCES and costs money, and it bothers you all the time. A driver that works seamlessly like your NTFS driver, who wouldn't want that? Seriously? And honestly, I wouldnt want my Windows to be able to write to my HFS+ drives incase it gets virus infected.
  4. Wow with hackintosh

Holy {censored} lastowl, you were pretty helpful at answering his question, because I'm pretty sure that's exactly what he asked. Splitix I think you should be alright, I think its a windows driver issue. I see some people reporting good frames, they probably uninstalled/reinstalled video drivers properly or reformatted their system with the new hardware. The majority of people will just start up a new driver installation without properly uninstalling old drivers, which can lead to problems. On the other hand, if its a WoW problem, 3.1 looks like its going to come out soon, so you can just wait till then if you haven't gotten it already (the video card) and see what people say. Just make sure that card is Core Image/Quartz Extreme supported because I don't know if it is. Hope this helps
  5. DFI LANPARTY DK P35-T2R/S

Mine's been working pretty smoothly. I've had no problems (Using Leo4Allv3) except i couldn't make a bottle in crossover games, and the audio doesn't sound that great unless i pump it through my stereo, but I'm not complaining
  6. Special Mac Keys

They are already mapped to what Mac uses. OS X's shortcuts, however, are slightly different than windows or linux, ctrl-c is now cmd-c, you can switch around the modifier keys in keyboard options though, which does help on that. Just look at a Mac keyboard (or picture of) to see which corresponds to which, what the software sees is what's on the mac keyboard, So the windows key is now command, alt is option i believe and ctrl is still control
  7. PCI Express 16x Card in 1x Slot

it'll work as long as its getting ample power and you cut the 1x slot end so the card will fit, i've seen this work like that before on some website
  8. iSquint (ffmpeg) crashes

    Nope, i'm still puzzled
  9. CrossOver Issue in Leopard

i'm pretty sure WoW runs on Mac, why dont you use that?
  10. Latest updates

I installed safari 3.1 and its running smooth, but not the security update I'm running Zephyroth 10.5.2
  11. iSquint (ffmpeg) crashes

Well i've tried that and Visual Hub's program called AtomicParsley (which i expect is the equivalent to ffmpeg) crashes, so i dont think it has to do with the program but whatever the converter uses or some thing that doesnt work quite on AMD?
  12. iSquint (ffmpeg) crashes

No one with even the same problem?
  13. iSquint (ffmpeg) crashes

Whenever I try to convert a video using iSquint, or anything that uses ffmpeg for that matter, it causes ffmpeg to crash making me unable to convert. The usual popup tells me "The application ffmpeg quit unexpectedly." It worked when i used Jas' 10.4.8, but its not working with Zepyroth's 10.5.2 rev1 Can't even convert using VLC or Quicktime, basically the same error My specs are as such Athlon 64 3200 (SSE2) DFI nF4x Infinity (Motherboard) Radeon x1900GT (QE and CI working) 1gig DDR 400 (running at 200.. dont ask) This is the problem report, with just the crashed thread copied if you need any other error logs i can get them here Process: ffmpeg [530] Path: /Applications/iSquint.app/Contents/Resources/ffmpeg Identifier: ffmpeg Version: ??? 14. Getting the mouse to feel right

I'd just like to let you know, I have a G5 and I felt the same way when I installed for the first time, now I'm used to it and its second nature to me. But there is one program that i found called SteerMouse. That allowed me to get rid of the acceleration and put more useful commands to the extra buttons. Play with it you'll understand.
  15. Dangers of 2006?
