Patch to modify USB product ID

That's funny, since a few days I need the exact same thing but for some other USB device! Please post all of your findings! I would very much appreciate that. One thing I've only recently (and therefore too late) found is https://github.com/slavaim/MacOSX-Kernel-Filter , but (public? ) development stopped in 2013 according to its readme. I can't seem to make it compile right now, maybe that's my own fault though. I need it to run on at least 10.13, better yet 10.11 min, but those are already too new. And even if that driver/injector (or whatever it truly is, I haven tested it yet) would work: I don't even know if that really supports changing the name of the device as the readme doesn't mention it. But I wildly guess it could do that as well, just look at its intense featureset. I've also found another question here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/25994103/osx-change-product-id-to-usb-composite-device but no answers... There's also these docs: https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/DeviceDrivers/Conceptual/USBBook/USBDeviceInterfaces/USBDevInterfaces.html But damn, it's out of my league. I wouldn't know where to start.

Mojave MBR HFS Firmware Check Patch

Followed Crabhunters advice to choose regular update instead of combo updater and it worked in the VM! Combo updater was the first thing I tried and it lead to endless reboots of the VM. With regular updater everything is fine. Additionally to updating dyld caches and rebuilding kextcaches in single user mode, AppleMediaServices.framework was replaced to get the everything running again. So far it seems to be fine: Thanks to everyone involved, especially crazybirdy, of course!
  3. I think your issue comes from not having the wallpapers on your boot partition. Move the wallpapers somewhere in your user folder, e.g. ~/Pictures
  4. I appreciate the work and effort you put into helping!

Mojave MBR HFS Firmware Check Patch

Yeeees! We did it! Thank you crazybirdy, gengik84 and everybody else involved! I rolled back everything again, took a deep breath and then ran Q7 updater script. I then shut down the machine, booted up in single user (trivia: In my first attempt I forgot to disable SIP before updating, so I had to do everything twice. Ouch!), refreshed kextcaches and after a fairly quick reboot it's finally up and running: Apple apps work. Thank you very much for your help, it is greatly appreciated. Now let's test how stable it is!

Mojave MBR HFS Firmware Check Patch

Hello crazybirdy! Thank you for your hard work for us, I hope you're doing well. As I mentioned earlier, I managed to install in a virtual machine (Parallels). I have the Parallels Additions installed in the 10.14 guest. So when 10.14.1 Update arrived, I tried to install it with the same errormessage Crabhunter has gotten. I then tried to update using your script, when the script finished and I went on to copy the dyld command sequence from terminal by right clicking it, terminal suddenly quit itself and a few seconds later the machine reset itself, only to get stuck here when rebooting: Okay, I thought it might be Parallels Additions, so after having rolled back to a snapshot before my upgrade attempt, I uninstalled those and tried again. Now Terminal did not quit itself, I could copy the dyld command by right clicking it and saved it into a text file on the desktop (so that I don't forget it). Progress! I then chose reboot from the Apple menu, but now the machine is being stuck here: Any ideas? I managed to save the installer.pkg from /private/tmp again and here's what it looks like when trying to install it: So no dice here as well. Any ideas on what I could try? The 10.14 VM is fairly vanilla, I changed almost nothing in it, except for wallpaper and having downloaded a few applications from App Store... (and Parallels Additions, but as I said I uninstalled them again, so that can't really be it...) What surprises me is how it is being stuck at some APFS stuff, apparently. EDIT1: I see you recommend Q9 update script? I only have Q7 update script?
  7. Sigh... Alright, I'll be the one saying it out loud: There will be more money making? [EDIT, after the event:] One more fanless Macintosh. Cool! I like that. [EDIT2:] Just realized the MBA still comes with a fan Oh wow!

    macOS Mojave - It's out!

10.14 has such a nice improved RAM compression! I see much higher compression ratio (1:3 instead of 1:2 from 10.9 - 10.13). You guys noticed this as well? Complete rest of the web doesn't seem to be aware as of now… Sadly 10.14 does not support .qtz screen savers anymore, which I have plenty of. The crashes and third-party app crashes, I won't talk about them. They might vanish with point updates. In my opinion 10.14s home is mobile world. Increased efficiency in RAM department -> longer battery runtimes. On the desktop, as of now, 2018, you lose some functionality (as some apps really break irreparably), other than dark mode and machine learning in Xcode. I also noticed changes with Apple ARC in Xcode 10 and 10.14, it seems to be more aggressively putting things in a "nap" state. Have to dig deeper though. I'll come back into 10.14 later, maybe next year or the year after that. I still remember the horrors of updating to 10.7 too early What do you mean? 10.14 still lacks MTP support for Android, so that you can connect an Android device via USB with your computer and access all files without any additional drivers. There is _2 billion_ Android devices out there. Every single other OS out there has MTP support, even the PowerMac PPC alternative operating systems like Ubuntu. Whereas old Mac OS X, including Leopard, synced iTunes with my no-name USB MP3 players with official Apple approved extensions and my Palm Pre with iTunes even without any additional extensions. So I'm wondering what you are talking about? I can't get behind your statement at all. Not even in the slightest.

Clover problems report & features request

Hi, tried 4674 pkg installer from sourceforge yesterday, it installed well and seems to have worked. However it reported back to be 4658 in the bottom right corner. Never ever had this happen before. Haven't seen somebody else report this, so there you go. Rolled back to 4658 (which runs flawlessly so far). It's probably only irrelevant cosmetics, but eh…

Mojave MBR HFS Firmware Check Patch

I used your script to get 10.14 installed on HFS+ Journaled in Parallels Desktop. First I created a blank sparse disk image from within Disk Utility, large enough to fit everything, file system HFS+ Journaled, of course. Launched the script and selected the mounted disk image as the target. Used Disk Utility to convert the sparse disk image into a read only image, so that Parallels recognizes it when asking for an installer. That's it, install as usual! Not sure if you actually need to start with a sparse disk image, haven't tested that.

    [pre-release] macOS Mojave 10.14.1

Updating to 10.14.1b 18B45d did not work out for me, I'm not sure why, but I suspect DSMOS never arrived. Stays at Apple Logo indefinitely when booting non-verbose. Rolled back.
  12. Hi, today SWUSwitcher.app tells me that "MAINLINE SEEDING IS NOT ACTIVE". That wasn't the case before, but I do not know what to make of it? What does this "Mainline Seeding" actually mean? Thanks and greetings

    macOS Mojave - It's out!

That's funny! I would love to get to know the opposite: How to update instead of getting the full installer? To get my full installer I went into System Preferences > Updates and removed myself from the Developer Seed Programme. If I didn't do that, it'd load the beta installer still. Then I went into App Store and searched "mojave" and clicked Download. System Preferences then opens up and downloads the full installer. That is with HFS+J GUID method made possible by crazybirdys script. Now, when I search for updates, either with crazybirdys script or System Preferences Update pane, I see no updates. Did you guys get offered an (combo) update to 18A391? On 18A389 right now. Edit1: Or max.1974s method, he beat me!

    [pre-release] macOS Mojave

Installed using crazybirdys script and everything seems to be in order. Even SpeedStep is now working for me. Screenshot for reference: Thanks everybody, this update went quite smooth for me, thanks to a lot of help by you people.
  15. This thing is great, thank you!
