  1. HD 6870 DVI Connectors SOLVED

    Glad it worked
  2. HD 6870 DVI Connectors SOLVED

Hi billdlv, sorry to hear about the hassle with your card. I used the same tutorial you used : http://www.insanelym...pic=273937&st=0 I have a Power Color HD 6870 1GB I can confirm both my DVI outputs are working with GE = Yes AtiConfig=Gabba AtiPorts=5 I've never been able to use both DVI ports on this card until editing the ATI6000Controller.Kext as outlined by VCH888 's post.
  3. [Guide] Getting XFX HD6850 connectors to work

just wanted to say thanks to Alexander Martinez for the guide / tutorial and also thanks to VCH888 for his post. Got all my connectors on Power Color 6870 working regards
  4. Got the black screen after 10.7.2 update. I was also using EFI string for my Nvidia 9800 GT. Removed the string and used GraphicsEnabler=Yes in my org.chameleon.Boot.plist. Worked
  5. SOLVED It turns out it was only the Pioneer Drive causing the issue in my case. I updated the firmware to 1.09 (from 1.03) on the DVR-216 and the problem went away. I left media in both drives over night and let the computer sleep. Both drives work without issue after waking. I also don't sleep my hard drives.
  6. Hi all, I have a new install of SL but having some issues with optical drives. I have 2 x SATA DVD drives installed. 1) Pioneer DVR-216 2) Samsung SH-S223B Both work fine and I can boot from either of them if I need to, BUT . . . If I leave media in one of them (DVR-216), without accessing for a while, it just shuts off .. no power. I have to reboot to get them back. If I play movies or continually access the drives - they stay functional. If I don't put anything in them, they stay alive as well. I read in another thread that someone believes (in their case) that having "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" in Energy Saver was the cause of the problem. Unchecking this option seemed to solve the issue - but not for me. Any ideas? Regards Fish
  7. 10.6 Generic Retail Install Guide

Wasn't long at all and thank you very much for helping out. Much appreciated. lol JMicronATA.kext caused KP. I'll just have to look for conflicts in my S/L/E I think I'll also re-download kexts from here and keep 'em separate from the millions of others I have downloaded thanks again
  8. 10.6 Generic Retail Install Guide

Yes - using efi string for graphics using dsdt for audio patch.

  10. 10.6 Generic Retail Install Guide

lol - yeah I wasn't clear. I know how to drill down to the plist - I just don't know what to add in there
  11. 10.6 Generic Retail Install Guide

yeah, I did use those kexts in the beginning and started taking kexts out one by one with no real conclusion reached. AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext . . I was using this too but had no idea I had to edit info.plist Whoops. How do I go about that? Also - is it to be added as a standalone kext or a plugin for IOATAFamily kext?
  12. 10.6 Generic Retail Install Guide

I've been trying for a few days now to get SL installed and not having much luck so far. No luck with boot 132 from CD/DVD as I cannot get Chameleon to rescan optical drives. Most promising method has been "restore install DVD to a partition". I created a 10GB partition on a Leo 10.5.8 disk. I boot into Installer partition with the following args: -arch=i386 -v -x32 Everything looks good - boots up in the right resolution from com.apple.Boot.plist. dsdt.aml is recognized . . . but always end up with a grey screen and spinning rainbow beach ball of death. I have tried swapping out many of the SL kexts from /E/E , tried different combinations - always ending in same result. In fact, no difference even if I remove all the kexts and mkext. My system is : P5K-E Wifi/AP , Q6600 , 4G DDR2 RAM, GFX NV 9800GT Here is my lspci dump: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation 82G33/G31/P35/P31 Express DRAM Controller [8086:29c0] (rev 02) 00:01.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82G33/G31/P35/P31 Express PCI Express Root Port [8086:29c1] (rev 02) 00:1a.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 [8086:2937] (rev 02) 00:1a.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 [8086:2938] (rev 02) 00:1a.2 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #6 [8086:2939] (rev 02) 00:1a.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 [8086:293c] (rev 02) 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller [8086:293e] (rev 02) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 1 [8086:2940] (rev 02) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 5 [8086:2948] (rev 02) 00:1c.5 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 6 [8086:294a] (rev 02) 00:1d.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 [8086:2934] (rev 02) 00:1d.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 [8086:2935] (rev 02) 00:1d.2 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 [8086:2936] (rev 02) 00:1d.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 [8086:293a] (rev 02) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge [8086:244e] (rev 92) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation 82801IR (ICH9R) LPC Interface Controller [8086:2916] (rev 02) 00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation 82801IR/IO/IH (ICH9R/DO/DH) 6 port SATA AHCI Controller [8086:2922] (rev 02) 00:1f.3 SMBus [0c05]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) SMBus Controller [8086:2930] (rev 02) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation Unknown device [10de:0605] (rev a2) 02:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller [11ab:4364] (rev 12) 03:00.0 SATA controller [0106]: JMicron Technologies, Inc. The only thing I can think of is to pull my IDE drives out of the equation - but don't want to if I don't really have to. (plan to replace with SATA soon anyway) Regards
  13. Ok great - gave it a try and it works as expected Tested both DVD drives 1 x IDE and 1 x SATA (at the same time) while running Rember for 1 cycle. No KP ! Awesome thanks Fish
  14. Thanks for this. I have a P5K-E Wifi-AP mobo that has both ICH9R and JMB363. and 4GB Ram I installed your plist patched JMicronATA.kext.darwinata.v0.6.PlistFix.IDE_mode_only extension and it solved the KP issue. GREAT . . . thanks again. Looking at SATA information in the System Profiler still shows Unknown AHCI Standard Controller... Just wondering if I should install the plist only intel kext (LegacyAppleAHCIPortIntelICHx.kext) next? Or is there really no point? Regards Fish
  15. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

Thanks JM - went ahead anyway as it seems logical and worked. wondering if you gave up on the "Sleep" issue or if the USB 2.0 solution worked for you ? Also, when I use a combination of hex dump for my graphics card and chose the efi Time Machine fix - I lose my GFX string and just get the time machine fix - is there a trick to this or probably better off doing the Nic and GFX manually from plist and back to hex? EDIT: never mind - imported GFX string as plist and it worked. Thanks again - GREAT tutorial, really helped
