  1. Asus X83VB-X1 N80 Series

As far as the vga is concerned i use the HDMI as i find its much easier to use and works 100% i dont know of any way to get the video to work from the VGA out.....im researching as much as possible maybe its seen as a third output? i know FN F8 works to switch the video manually...
  2. Asus X83VB-X1 N80 Series

If you read my first post i explained that dsdt needs to be put at the \root of your drive..... There is no accessing the bootloader just install it as its a pkg. the biggest thing you could do for yourself is get osxtools it has many of the utilities you need built into the interface. Secondly you should read the beginners forums here and learn What and Hows before skydiving..it saves us from explaining how to use the software you should be familiar with, as it makes it easier for people like myself to help you actually solve some of your installation woes... And last when you have issues you cant jsut say 'It doesent work" ... "or how do i?"... without letting us know your configuration what you chose as kernel etc. knowing this will help everyone actually be concerned about your specific issue without worrying about the user related problems that have to be ironed out first. Sorry i havent been around im learning cocoa and programming for a Mac... now that mac supports OpenCL im designing a Multi-threaded application for mac.. If anyone is interested im looking for some talented cocoa designers to help out could be fun and $$$

strangely i havent had any issues with my vga????? i used the files as listed here.. i would not know if 10.5.7 is different than .6 but i wouldent assume it would cause any undue issues with VGA of all things... you need to elaborate on what your having issues with... vga color output size etc!
  4. Asus X83VB-X1 N80 Series

  6. Asus X83VB-X1 N80 Series

blue are you serious damn this gold thing is rather ugly but all in all its a great machine! Glad to hear you gave up on the kalyway.. ideneb was the only one i got to work 90% sound for me really isnt a big deal but i will wait patiently until a kext is developed but for now it will remain on my second partition when i need it...... you simply mus see the Lenovo S10 rock the leopard install 99% working cept the pci express slot...but dont need it anyways.... glad i could help but id rather wait till the sound kext works than to have a damn dongle in the way all the time.. BTW has anyone seen the bluetooth module for this machine cant find it anywhere...or if someone has it is willing to sell or trade?
  7. The Holy ALC663 Problem Solving Thread

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=148302 in my topic i have the ASUS X83VB laptop which has HDMI audio out.. now what is interesting is that i am wondering if that audio is tied to the alc663? as its stated that in windows its nvidia audio...? anyone ? it would be a workaround for me and possibly others if we could reroute sound at least until the driver gets worked out. and seeing as the vanilla kernel doesent like my laptop i cant see the future of the 663 working anytime soon on my laptop
  8. Asus X83VB-X1 N80 Series

webcam was oob for me as far as sound and wireless im afraid the wireless will not be working anytime soon...i am looking into a bcm4312 card to replace the intel wireless 5100 that has NO suppport whatsoever. as far as the sound its alc663 and again its a work in progress i am attmepting to get it to work jsut the stereo or even through headphone alone.. search both intel 5100 and alc663 here and youll fine me ranting about how it doesent work im sure lol i found on ebay a proper wifi replacement card for only 16$ and there are usb speakers that may work....or a usb sound card for 20$ ive seen not sure if theyll work yet.. keep my fingers crossed keep checking here periodically thanks

  11. "Mercurysquad" Thanks for the insight, while were on the topic, What about using "classic" method as it allows direct access to the hardware layer without all the messy security layers of OSX10. Knowing that all classic applications run as "emulated" and arent given direct access to the hardware but what if we were to use the device as a "dial-up" device which has historically used direct hardware access because of the nature of the device, we make the os "think" were using a legacy device then develop an ap to negotiate the "legacy" device. once you have direct hardware access you wouldn't necessarily need to run the device through the kernel rather bootstrap it to something else? as we all know osx isnt very backwards compatible but if we rebranded to device as another device that would allow an application to control the hardware "messy". remember the days of the Generic driver? well if we rebranded the device or created a different firmware we could meet the development goal halfway. have the device itself be more compatible. I would happily donate my intel 5100 wireless if it would help the cause!...kinda useless right now just thinking outside the ∆ Intel5100 working in linux http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=879134&page=2 lshw -C network *-network DISABLED description: Wireless interface product: Intel Corporation vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:0e:00.0 logical name: wmaster0 version: 00 serial: 00:16:ea:73:64:e0 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list logical ethernet physical wireless configuration: broadcast=yes driver=iwl4965 latency=0 module=iwl4965 multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11abgn *-network description: Ethernet interface product: RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller vendor: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:14:00.0 logical name: eth0 version: 02 serial: 00:1e:ec:55:88:02 size: 100MB/s capacity: 1GB/s width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress msix vpd bus_master cap_list ethernet physical tp 10bt 10bt-fd 100bt 100bt-fd 1000bt-fd autonegotiation configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=r8169 driverversion=2.2LK duplex=full ip=192.168.1.8 latency=0 link=yes module=r8169 multicast=yes port=twisted pair speed=100MB/s
