  1. I'm a bit confused about the install process. I have Tiger 10.4.10 THo working on my hackitosh, it's installed on a separate HD formatted as mbr. I have a couple of questions, please be gentle I'm new to this and find the language a bit cryptic. When you say "boot into Tiger" to do the GUID conversion, are you meaning the HD I have Tiger on or from the DVD I used? I'm using chain0 to select which OS to boot to, will this continue to work if I follow you installation guide.
  2. where do I find this efi ver 8? I'm not finding it on the torrent sites
  3. Tiger 10.4.11 Update Successful!

What are the benefits of going from 10.4.10 to 11? I have my system running pretty well using the THo install. It does have a couple of bugs like the .dmg failed to mount thing but from my readings the kernal updates won't fix that. So is upgrading that important?
  4. [guide] Patcher for Leopard

Where can I get your patchdvd8? I would like to patch my full OS X leopard.dmg file. It seems the printer drivers and AC97 kext in the extras that get zapped by the Brazilmac patch. I don't know if you had time to set it up to create a burnable image for DL DVD but thats what I want to do. BTW: does this work with the SSE 2 Intel processors?
  5. Toshiba M200 and macdotnub OSx86 Install Disk

Well I can't say much about the hanging up thing, but that install will work on a non-sse3 CPU. My dell is somewhat aged and it installed just fine.
  6. Fixing the dictionary

Well after a week of fooling with 10.5 and having way too many problems I went back to 10.4 which ran pretty stable on my Dell 3000. I do need to find a fix for the dictionary so it will look up words. All I get is "word not found".
  7. Some Apps can't work

I'm having the same problem with iCalendar, any luck getting it to work? Also, I can't get the "About This Mac" splah screen to show either.
  8. I just want to camp on by saying I finally got this Leopard installed on my PC. I was running Tiger and tried to upgrade with this ToH release, I had nothing but problems. Finally I erased the drive (not reformatted because my dual boot was working fine) and did a clean install. Everything loaded, I downloaded the video drivers for my Nidiva 5200 and printer drivers and BAM! there was nice a shinny OSx86 Leopard. I'm not real skilled with all the unix commands and kext stuff, so this had to be simple for me or I would have said f***k it and stayed with Winblows. My 2 cents is do a "clean install" not an upgrade, thats what working for me. My machine specs are in my sig. A very basic machine. I love the way this OS looks and functions so far. There are a couple of buggy things, ical won't open, can't get the "About This Mac" splash screen up. But overall a very nice experience. I am going to migrate to a real MAC when I can afford one. Good luck to all who venture out.
  9. This is probably what you saw. I have the same problem after upgrading to Leopard. Unfortunately I don't know squat about Unix commands and can't seem to implement this fix. I tried your -f flag but no luck either. Great workaround 1. Reboot into single-user mode (hold Cmd-S while booting machine) 2. Follow the directions OSX gives you when you get to the prompt (I think these were them - just type the two commands it tells you to): fsck -fy / /sbin/mount -uw / 3. Remove the following files: rm -rf /Library/Preference Panes/Application Enhancer.prefpane rm -rf /Library/Frameworks/Application Enhancer.framework rm -rf /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/Application Enhancer.bundle rm -rf /Library/Preferences/com.unsanity.ape.plist 4. Exit, to continue booting normally exit It did work for several people on that post so good luck.
  10. I am going breakdown some post install issues by importance. Spotlight won't finish indexing (can't use it) About this MAC won't show Calendar crashes when loading Sleep mode problem like so many others it won't wake up I'm running THo release of Leopard installed on top of Tiger 10.4.10 mac.nub release. Dell P4 2.8 (sse2) 1Gib Ram Native drive for OSx 40Gib 256 GeForce video NDiva How about some help here.
  11. Well I'm only a few days into running OSx on my Dimension 3000, it's really a cool OS I must admit. I started with the Mac.nub release of Tiger 10.4.10 and updated to Leopard with the THo release. I didn't think it would run at all because my P4 2.8 CPU is only SSE2. I had some problems with hardware to start but got everything to work somehow. So much reading I can't remember exactly what I did. Anyway, some of the applications and widgets seem to crash. I can't get the "about this Mac" to come up (it starts but never appears). The calendar app crashes too. I'm really new to all this kernel and kexts stuff. So if someone could point me to some solution based info and maybe a tutorial or two that would be great. I hear people always talking about one kernel being more stable than another, but I'm clueless about it all. I could use some help here. keeping hope alive! Thanks
  12. Anyone know how to install or get my USB Memorex 6142u scanner to work in 10.4.10? I see there is no Mac software from Memorex. The Image Capture app shows no device connected.
  13. XxX_OSX86 10.4.10 Install DVD

OK be gentle with me. I'm very new to this OSx thing but love it so far. I too have a problem loading and dmg's. I read here where there is likely some kernel mis-match. I need some instructions on a few things. How do I find out if I have a mis match system kernel? How do I fix it? Where do I find all these kernals? I don't even know if I asked the question right, but I think you get the idea. I'm not too familar with unix/linux at all so examples of what to type and where would be helpful. I hope someone has time to help me.
  14. Disk Image Failed To Load

When I downloaded the ISO and install it it said 10.4.10 but ran a software update. I rebooted and it said 10.4.11. Restore the kernel? I'm really new to OSx could you be more specific on how to do this.
  15. Disk Image Failed To Load

I have installed OSx86 10.4.11 and got it running (sort of). I Still have some tweaks to do but one big problem is none of the disk images (.dmg) I download will mount. I have tried to install FireFox and my printer drivers, but neither will mount. Need some help.
