  1. HWSensors

Sorry I have a really dumb question. How do I install this program? I've run the .pkg installer, rebooted, and all I get the HWMonitor app is disk temp. I have a Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 and a i7-6700K. I used clover to make the install Thanks
  2. iPhone 4S Always Using WiFi

After some digging around, this thread describes my problem exactly. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2785264?start=0&tstart=0 I have signed out of the store. Let's see if my WiFi connection is not being used continuously. Since Apple have not yet merged Apple ID's I have some for my iCloud account and one for iTunes. Maybe this is the problem. Or the order in which you enter them during setup? Any thanks for taking an interest in this thread, and I will report my results
  3. iPhone 4S Always Using WiFi

Only mail phone and messages in the notification centre. And no push
  4. iPhone 4S Always Using WiFi

Siri has been off all the time. I have an iCloud account, but a while ago I deleted it, but had similar issues. I use iCloud, so not having it would be an issue. Push is off, as are photo stream, documents, find my phone.
  5. iPhone 4S Always Using WiFi

It seems to be connecting to push.apple.com almost continuously. Even though I have push off, and not photo stream / documents etc. It does not use much data, but it is the continuous connection causing the issue. What do I need to do to stop this behaviour?
  6. iPhone 4S Always Using WiFi

I'm having a frustrating problem leading to battery life problems My iPhone seems to remain permanently connected to my home Wifi and using data. I have locations services off, push mail off, notifications off, no apps running, ask to join networks off, not sending diagnosis and usage info. What can be causing this? Regards, Paul

  8. I'm trying to get the windows on my home network to be able to view certain shared folders on my iMac When I enable SMB file sharing the windows PC gets to see most of my iMac and not just the shared folders with the appropriate read/write controls What am I doing wrong? thanks, Paul Snow Leopard 10.6.2 Windows XP Home SP3
  9. How do I install SL on MBR> I have 10.5.8 running at the moment Thanks Paul
  10. Hotspots

I have just upgraded to OS 3.0 and now I cannot login to the wifi hotspot I use the most!! With the old version, connecting to the hotspot and requesting a page in safari loaded a default page, from which you selected your roaming partner, click the URL and were taken to the login page for that provider. Now with OS 3.0 I get the default page as part of the login dialog, but when I click the links to the other providers nothing happens. Pressing cancel disconnects me from the wifi hotspot I've tried with auto join on and off, but I can't stop the login page, or get past it. What can I do???? thanks Paul Gleeson
  11. Mount Points

I have 10.5.7 running well with 2 NTFS formatted disks attached. One has the correct mount point with the mount point and disk name the same as the NTFS volume label The other has just disk1s5 and untitled see below I have tried renaming the volume in windows, and many combinations of diskutil mount / rename commands Any ideas how I can fix this. thanks Paul
  12. I tried to update to 10.5.7 via software update and separate download, but I get the "still waiting for root device" error I did not change any of the kexts in the extra folder from 10.5.6 and these included ACHI kexts I required before. Does anyone have any ideas, or a set of kexts that work with 10.5.7 Originally my system was from a Kalyway 10.5.2 install with updates. thanks Paul
  13. Is there a solution to sleep with either 10.5.5 or 10.5.6 When I try sleep, it wakes up OK, but with some "noise" on the screen, and the mouse moving but not being able to click anything. Paul
  14. I'm up and running with an upgraded 10.5.6 on my backup partiton. I will clone my main partition and repeat the steps to be sure. then I might try a vanilla retail install, and apple update. Just for fun ;-) I put Aliab's packed kext files into the /extra folder, but I had to use different AHCI and PS2 ones. The audio did not work either, but I fixed this post upgrade with the audio.pkg install. BTW, which kexts are required for the audio. I would like to put them in the /extra folders (packed of course) as well. Thanks to everyone's help Paul
  15. Thanks for everyone's help. I think I am getting to understand this...... So I have PC EFI v9 Chameleon 10.1.12 installed, and a dsdt.aml file in my root directory. (My disk is MBR not GUID. For this setup does it matter?) In the extras folder in the root directory, I should add the kexts from aliab? http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=42915 Then I should be able to do a vanilla upgrade from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 right? Is this the same as having an EFI GUID partition with the kexts in? thanks Paul
