  1. X61s with middleton bios - help

What Wi-Fi card are you using? I have the x61s non tab w 1.6Ghz too. Please list the exact details with regards to installation. I will try and help, the wi-fi from apple tv is atheros i'm assuming. Cheers
  2. [Guide] [Mavericks & Yosemite] AMD Radeon HD5450

Hi all! Been trying to add the code to my existing .aml but every time I try to compile I get a non-ascii error... Any help letting me know where I messed up would be very helpful and appreciated! (been a very long time since I've compiled a DSDT and I forgot almost everything!) DSDT.aml.zip
  3. [Guide] ML Install Guide for Lenovo G580

@ shane 369 I know this sounds crazy but I can't access my BIOS since I wiped Win8 Know a fix? @ Dr.Hurt will upload vanilla DSDT soon, thanks for your input! warak 3aneib ya salaaaaaam @sarim khan: ditch the usb adapter and get a lenovo atheros, that ralink stuff with the utility never works as good... I wish I could check my BIOS version, Lenovo doesnt disclose any BIOS info online nor do they post any bios updates for our model line... hmmmm...
  4. [Guide] ML Install Guide for Lenovo G580

@mjtill: yes I agree about the stability of Lion but Lion is the lesser of the last 3 cats... Plus 7-series chipset support is better in 10.8+ @skhan: no worries, good work. need to fix usb3 >2 functionality (instead of ripping out kexts hehe) props Dr.Hurt! GMA950
  5. [Guide] ML Install Guide for Lenovo G580

@Mjtill: no Lion will not work, unless you update to the latest version 10.7.5. Even then I recomment 10.8. (because we have Ivy bridge cpus and hd4000, i believe no support for them in Lion until 10.7.3, not sure). Try and buy ML it's only 20$ and much better than Lion! (Lion = Vista) Also are you using the USB 2.0 port?? @sarim khan: did you try it? I'm trying to help and all you say is No... beautiful Mr.Khan! Thank you! (read below for the DSDT fixes to help you out, if you know how to make the edits then perfect, report back and upload DSDT please!) anybody been able to access the BIOS? the only time i was able to access it was when i had Win8 and i rebooted from the OS. btw all this kernel cache No stuff is because some folks are using 32-but kexts.... NOT ideal. With 64-bit only kexts no need for kernel cache off... So use 64-bit VoodooPS2 for trackpad and use the smartscroll app for scrolling gestures. For audio I'm searching for alc269 kexts, but what we really need it to use the patche AppleHDA with the proper DSDT edits! I'm getting help for my DSDT to get USB 3.0 accept 2.0 drives as well (prob the hardest DSDT edit) I think this will help fix sleep as it appears to be linked to USB issues. Maybe even include the atheros wireless fix in the DSDT! adios! also here are some dsdt edits that we need, especially for sleep: USB Sleep Fix: Find the EHC2 and EHC1 sections and insert this method before the _PWR method in both sections: Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) { Store (Package (0x0B) { "AAPL,clock-id", Buffer (One) { 0x01 }, "device_type", Buffer (0x05) { "EHCI" }, "AAPL,current-available", 0x04B0, "AAPL,current-extra", 0x02BC, "AAPL,current-in-sleep", 0x03E8, Buffer (One) { 0x00 } }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) } then: Comp wakes up immediately from sleep since we need to patch HD Audio: Audio Patch:Allows the sound card to be detected as an HDEF audio card. Replace the Device (AZAL) section with this: Device (HDEF) { Name (_ADR, 0x001B0000) Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) { Store (Package (0x04) { "codec-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x16, 0x76, 0x84, 0x83 }, "layout-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x0C, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 } }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) } } DSDT + AppleHDA.kext should work! We need this for working sleep without SSDT tables (but I'm working on those too!) Again I'm no pro and asking other to help me with DSDT so stay posted for DSDT+SSDT fixes! I'll then update the guide for 10.8 install on my G580 w i3-3120M (2.5Ghz). Also I find this helps w smoothness regardless of DSDT: try this then: http://forge.voodoop.../voodootscsync/ IOCPUNumber=2 in the Info.plist (because we have 2 cores hypethreaded) ...No, this is another thing. :wink2:
  6. [Guide] ML Install Guide for Lenovo G580

    try this: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/29778/pleasesleep
  7. [Guide] ML Install Guide for Lenovo G580

@shane369. try this: [http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=3534] install with this: [http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/253395-kext-wizard-easy-to-use-kext-installer-and-more/] Let me know how it goes. @sarim khan, you need a diff DSDT, DSDT is model specific. I don't have a DSDT yet. Apparenlty, to get USB 2.0 working on the USB 3.0 ports we need a massive/complicated DSDT edit. (I don't know how to do it....yet....) we need DSDT edits to get rid of CPUNullpowermangemnt kext, that kext breaks sleep! also for the track pad use this, it's so worth it: http://www.marcmoini.com/sx_en.html so basically modded BIOS or DSDT w func power management.... working on the latter.... but would LOVE the former! (esp with Wi-Fi whitelist removed)
  8. [Guide] ML Install Guide for Lenovo G580

    Solid. Thank you.
  9. [Guide] ML Install Guide for Lenovo G580

Picked up the i3-ivy @ 2.5 G580, haven't unboxed it yet since I heard the touchpad is lousy (low response/dpi) and the store doesn't return it if it's opened (only exchange). I really wanna crack it open and help out but I need your guys opinion about the trackpad! AR9285 should be no problem with a modified IO80211Family.kext (since lenovo had diff id), you can modifythis yourself or use a pre-modded one. Alberto has this! If you have a diff card all it takes is 2 screws and you have access to wifi card, ram, and hdd. (I think it comes w one stick of 4GB, so 8GB should be easy - HD4000 will show 512MBram) I'm against using VoodooHDA since it's never been as good as the appleHDA. Oh and guys please compare BIOS versions since it make a big diff (esp regarding DSDT). Wanna help w DSDT but need honest opinion of touchpad since I'm anti-mouse hehe Cheers! Oh by the way have you guys gotten card reader to work? If not let me know, I have a VoodooHDSC kext.
  10. Dell D420 Bible

Amazing research on the voodoo for the audio real_sinjon. Any update on Framebuffer for the gma950? Also Qoopz 9.8 kernel v2 is the way to go. (based off voodoo/xnu-fork) Cheers
  11. Dell D420 Bible

glad to hear you got so far. does the gma 500 package remove the artifacts in firefox 3 and office 2008? The 9200.txt that you used is the same as mine. Mute does not work, the audio + and - show onscreen. The headphone jack does not turn off the built in speaker.... I assume there should be a fix similar to that of the NC10. For the NC10 you have to switch the output from the speaker to the phones everytime, it does not autodetect..... I'm sure if we investigate this more we could develop a similar solution for the D420. I heard that we have to boot into linux and get audio dumps... In any case, it is sad that the D420 gets little attention... it is very similar to the D620 though and I have perused multiple posts regarding the D420 and D620 trying to get my system at 100%. I'm pretty confident that we can get PCMCIA, the sd slot is tougher, it's detected but does not have a driver.... The real deal breaker for me has been graphics artifacts and the phones jack. If we fix this I'll go back to OSX as it runs much better on this laptop than xp! I'll try to keep up the research, I hope we can try to get the audio working together, it's possible. I'll try to learn more from the NC10 guide on biketown. Cheers!
  12. Dell D420 Bible

so sry been away for so long...awol if u like... i'll get the audio fix. Also, I believe the best blend for d420 involved installing using leo4all v.3 and then using a small package to save your key kexts. That way, once you update, all of your kexts will be restored... well in a nutshell...which translates to, that package + audio patch: everything works except modem, sd card reader and super annoying artifacts. also didn't try the mic jack, but internal. if somebody gives me a hand and finds a driver that runs gma 950 w/ 0 artifacts then maybe we can get to unlocking that card reader. I'm sure the audio could be improved studying the codec dumps from a linux boot usb drive. Gets tricky but then we can say we have 100% installs... well except for automatic updates... in any case, let's do it. help me find some nice gma950 drivers for the d420. I'm sure if we all work together we'll find or build a treasure... Oh and one last note, i think lots of your problems are due to the selection of the wrong kexts for the chipset. ICHx fix is the bad boy kext package, it makes disc access as fast as it can be with a 4200rpm 1.8 drive... and no yellow icons.. and it's nice and stable! Oh and the 9.5 Voodoo kernel is amazing, if you don't want that, i would recommend the sleep 9.2.0 kernel. don't click too much stuff when installing, three boxes max. It's not impossible. If I did it so can you... ...use the gray matter
  13. Dell D420 Bible

Yo broz! I have a nice fix for sound that will allow the onboard mic + the headphone jack to work with the built-in speakers! it's better than the fix included in sonotone's package (post-installer). I will provide a link for those who need it... also i have various kexts that help me make my install really nice... I have a D420 but with the single core.... the only probs that made me go back to xp were.... -crappy alps touchpad is ok, but no multi-touch... tap to click and crappy scrolling works if you check the D630 touchpad in dell post-installer v1.3 or 1.3.1 not 1.4.... (it's made by zitounec) crappy scrolling= press hard with one finger and it scrolls... anywhere... (a fix would be to use the elantech touchpad found on the eeepc.... or a synaptics touchpad... I need your help here researching! plz...) the elantech touchpad would be fully compatible out of the box if we mod it... if someone can find a retailer and the dimensions i'm willing to try and put it together... -gma950.... works but only with an older framebuffer causing artifacts in word 2008 and firefox 3.... (i tried newer frambuffers that i extracted myself from various mac packages.... no go, only image on external monitor; from what i was told there is no perfect fix for the dell dma950's yet... it's sort of a dead horse) (the framebuffers that are x.4.x.x work (tiger versions), the x.5.x.x (leopard versions) don't! these were the deal breakers for me... especially the gma950, so annoying.... In addition, the sd card reader by ricoh is displayed as an 02 micro card reader but i can't find a good driver.... If you guys post back hopefully we can get this working 100% so i can ditch xp once again.... Oh and some people use natit and what not... i've never got natit+gma950kext+framebuffer to work with accelerated gphx... anyways guys.. let's get cracking...
  14. Dell D420 Bible

Hey, I have the D420 and all I can say is life is much easier if you choose 10.4 over 10.5 gma950 is natively supported without artifacts in 10.4 Also, you can use EFI v8 if I am not mistaken because you have a Core processor (I have the single core 1.06, it gets the job done) The main problem is sleep. When you close the display it appears to go into sleep but when you open it nothing happens... you have to hold the power button to power it off then start it again. There must be something we can do to fix sleep... I have seen D620 work with sleep and they both supposedly have similar bioses... we can hopefully find a solution!
