  1. Ok, so I took out the USB clover boot loader and then turn my machine back on. It went to the new clover screen, then I went to boot args which is the second choice from the top. My Boot arg automatically starts with dart=0, then I typed in nvda_drv=1 then I went into the menu screen under graphics and clicked on use Nvidia Web Drivers, then pressed return and went back to the main screen and clicked on the hard drive icon. It went to the apple logo then to a circle with a line through it. Then I have to restart my computer. I have never gone into any of the other menus except the graphics one and clicked any other options. Is it possible I need to go through all of them and click a couple boxes to help it load correctly and if so which ones should be checked?
  2. Thank you for explaining, I always thought for it to be a true restart it would have to start up into the Mac screen and not start in the clover screen with my Mac HD symbol then I click on that and then it starts up into the Mac OS. As for boot loader nvda_drv=1 I have never used that yet and Im trying to get my machine to the point where I don't need the usb boot loader. I also can't see my Wifi card Asus PCE-AC56 card and Im trying to get my audio to work even with a usb audio adaptor. No luck on either of these. I can connect using ethernet though. I have also never used anything like Clover configurator. Should I use that program to create an EFI partition onto my desktop of my ssd?
  3. I know this sounds crazy and simple for some but for new people its hard. Im still loading onto Sierra with the bootlaoder and some specific boot args. I have tried to install my new Nvidia web drivers and its asks to restart my computer. As it stands now that is impossible since it always goes back to the boot loader screen and is not a true restart so when I check the Nvidia icon its back to "OS X Default Drivers" This also goes for anytime Im asked to restart. What am I missing? Is there a youtube video or link on here to show in simple terms how actually get your system to restart and complete the changes?
  4. Sierra won't recognize my Asus PCE-AC56 WiFi card and Im trying to find out what to do to fix it. I looked on Asus site but they only have windows drivers. I have also seen some posts on TonyMac but they don't really help me and the one they suggest is a program that has malware in it. Can anyone help me? I have an Asus X99-A motherboard and an intel 5820k processor.

    Newbie Question about Graphics Cards

@MaLd0n how did you get your computer to restart so the Nvidia Web Drivers would take hold? Is there not a way to get the Web Drivers to work in Sierra? I have heard some on youtube say that the XFX R9 280X should work fine without drivers because the real Mac Pros use Radeon cards in their system. Mine has not worked so thats why I bought the EVGA 740 ftw 1 gb last year. I just need to find a way to install these damn Nvidia web drivers.

    Newbie Question about Graphics Cards

@MaLd0n, How can I get my Nvidia 740 FTW 1gb card to work well when I can't restart my machine so the web drivers will work. Is there a way around to install the drivers without a restart? I have the Nvidia icon up top and can click on Nvidia We Driver, but it asks for me to restart which I can't do at the moment.
  8. So as of now The video card drivers are causing it not to load up into my Mac SSD consistently? I was able to get into it now and am trying to figure out how to make this a stable build. I have not run Clover configuration and do not have an EFI partition on my desktop of my Mac SSD main drive. Would that help me consistently get into Sierra without using the boot loader and boot args all the time? Should I just go and buy a newer video card? I have a XFX R9 280x just sitting on my desk because it is not recognized by my system as of now. If I were to install an EFI partition on my desktop would that help and do I do that through Clover configurator? I do have the Nvidia icon that I can click on and try to change it to web drivers instead of OS X Default Graphics Drivers but when I do it asks for a restart which as you know I can't to to make it take effect. Part of me wants to just give up and get a Gigabyte motherboard but this Asus X99-A is a great board and was not cheap. I have also seen in forums that other people have done it with the Asus X99 boards so I just need to know whats causing the problems on mine. I just want to be clear that I shouldn't need to reinstall Sierra on here do I? I worry I won't be able to and it is not the problem anyways. Am I correct that if you have already managed to install Sierra and it works when you load into it then the only problem is my boot args are not right?
  9. I used the Clover boot loader and a few known boot args and managed to install Sierra but have not been able to finish the process since. Im also a little confused on what to do next to make my build stable. My main build is: Asus X99-A & 5820k I7 (with the latest Bios Flash) 740 EVGA FTW 1GB gpu 32 gb DDR4 Samsung 850 Evo 120gb SSD After I was able to install Sierra, I tried to install the latest web drivers from Nvidia but it asks me to restart the computer which I can't do at the moment. I was able to get back into the Mac hard drive twice using a combination of the following boot args: ncpi= 0x2000 nv_disable=1 dart=0 kext-dev-mode=1 Am I supposed to boot back up using the install boot loader or should I be trying to load up with the new Mac ssd? Either way I can't get back in. Every once in a while it will try to load then go back to the clover boot loader screen. Sometime I get a white circle with a line through it. Can someone tell me what might help me get this build stable?

    Poor performance on X99 & 5820K

I am trying to change to the Nvidia Web Drivers but when I do it says to restart and then when I try it goes black then back to the original clover start up screen. What am I doing wrong? I don't thing I have ever been able to do a normal restart since Sierra was installed. If I take out my Clover Bootloader and boot from the main SSD then it starts and goes to the screen with the circle and the line through it.

OK thanks so much. I will install Clover onto my main SSD and when you say clover you mean Clover boot loader and not configurator, correct? Also when you say "System Tray" id that my main SSD drive? Just so we are clear, I won't ever be able to do a normal reboot, correct? It will always go to the clover screen first then I click on the Mac OS icon and it loads up. As of now I turned it off last night when I went to bed and I have type in a couple combinations of boot args but it won't load up. **Edit I used these boot args and it went through briefly then I changed the "OS X default" to nVidia web and it asked to reboot but ended up going to a black screen then back to clover. every try since to get back into Sierra has not worked or I get writing halfway down the start up screen which I assume is a kernel panic? These are the boot args that I have been using npci=0x2000 nv_disable=1 kext-dev-mode=1 dart=0 (this worked 1 time then won't work since) I have been trying to mix and match these with no luck.

    Poor performance on X99 & 5820K

Thanks guys, I finally managed to get Sierra installed then I installed the Nvidia Cuda drivers I found online (not sure I needed them) I also did installed the web drivers for 10.12.13 but its asking me to restart my machine and I have not run Clover configurator yet. Im unclear on what I need to do with that phase before I restart. Is there a good video on youtube or advice for the clover configurator process? Also what Clover Configurator is the best for me to download? I also don't have sound and the web pages seem to flicker a little when I move my mouse over the tabs. I still have my usb stick with the Clover boot loader plugged in. Im getting my internet through ethernet connection but would like to use my Asus PCI Wifi card, is that possible? I have an XFX Radeon R9 280X 3gb card that is good on pc and I thought it would be great with Mac but it didn't work on my last build and I assume it wouldn't work on this one unless I can find drivers for it and there is only PC drivers for it. I use my computer hopefully for video editing and content creation. Do I need Clover configurator ? Any help would be appreciated.

    Poor performance on X99 & 5820K

Hi Gregow, I also wanted to give it another shot and install Sierra. I have the same motherboard as you and the 5820k processor. I have the 740 ftw 1gb EVGA gpu. Can you please share with me step by step with what changes you made in your Bios? Im having trouble even getting to install the mac OS. Any help would be appreciated. Im trying to attach a photo of where my installation is getting caught up but its asking me for a URL to post a pic. Why cant I just upload a JPEG from my desktop?
  14. Thanks for the info but I need a 2TB drive.
  15. I have a Hackintosh with an Asus X-99-A motherboard and a i7 5820k processor. My Yosemite and Adobe creative cloud files are on a Samsung Evo 850 SSD. Im looking for a Western Digital or other very reliable 2TB internal hard drive that I can just store finished video segments or other project files. I have an SSD drive dedicated to edit video on so I would not need the 2TB drive for anything like that. Can I just use the WD green series drives or the blue series drives? Any other suggestions ( excluding Segate drives) would be appreciated.
