  1. Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

1, Thanks. 2, cp copies the actual file instead of the symbol link which is just a "shortcut" to actual file. ps. seems a typo in install_clover_scripts.command, '$patched'. 3, I didn't get a Mac, I couldn't see the T420 either from iPhone or iPad. 4, I don't think it is a display problem. eg: as I edit previous post, every letter 'p' got glitches for quite a while. Not big deals, I'm happy with current situation. Thanks again.
  2. Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

Tried the latest 20171015 release. 1) blueutil not included, found it here: http://www.frederikseiffert.de/blueutil/, hope it to be included in future releases(if no better way:p) It did fix my sleep problem(but lid sleep seems not working?), thanks!! 2) I think 'cp' in the install scripts should be 'cp -R' because 'cp' follows symbol links by default(it works though) 3) AirDrop not working, did't check it in previous releases. Does this feature require specific model of Wifi card? 4) Some graphical glitches sometimes. Does it relate to video bios upgrade I did days ago? Thanks again.
  3. Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

@tluck Great thanks for your really quick reponse!! I tried the same box with a Lenovo display, and like you said, works like a charm. Then I thunk may be it's a TV or cable problem, so I tried the cable from the display with the TV, and It works!! But this cable can only do 1366x768 maximum, both under Windows 10 and OSX, while it can do 1440x900 on the Lenovo display, the previous one can do 1080p under Windows 10. I'll try to find another cable can do 1080p another day, but 1366x768 is fine for video watching. The reason I use VGA is that, this ancient TV gets only one HDMI and I have to leave it for cable TV box. and also I think it is a bit of unworthy to get a DP to HDMI cable, cause most laptop equip miniDP nowadays. Thanks, again.

@tluck: 1) There seems a bug in the _kext-install.bash: _kext-install.bash: line 88: syntax error: unexpected end of file T420_UEFI-Clover-b3261_10.9_10.10_10.11_2015-08-20.zip 2) and... I'm asking for help, Again. I'm trying to connect an external monitor(a Sony TV actually) using the VGA port but no luck, TV didn't get detected even with Option+"Detect Display". Searched around, tried to patch AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB still no luck. I'm running Yosemite 10.10.5+Newest kext bundle provided. The TV works on the same laptop running Windows 10. What should I do to get the TV up? Thanks.

@rolitab I got same problem with Chrome, background flickering on some website. Can't tell it is a hackintosh problem or a Chrome problem:(
  6. Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

The lid-trick just works!! Thank you!! Agree with @testubabe, you deserve lots of beers!! It seems that the background color doesn't gradient natruely in mission control or dashboard, so I think it need more work to drive the 4200M perfectly. Will try to learn some dsdt thing another day. Thanks again. --------------------------------------- PS. The volume-up-down key did'nt seem to sync with menu-bar volume control?? Currently running Yosemite with 10-18 package, can't recall whether they sync under Mavericks 10.9.5.
  7. Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

@testubabe Thanks for the reply. Your config.plist seems not differ too much from the standard one. Tried to play with some EDID thing on my 420 but no luck. @tluck When swithed to discrete graphics, the system did not crash, but the display crashed. I tried to connect to the blacked-out 420 using vnc, getting a 1280x1024 desktop, and About said it has a 23-inch built-in display. The NVS 4200M seemed to got recognised properly. Maybe some DSDT editing should get it up? Any suggestions?
  8. Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

Just upgraded from Mavericks 10.9.5 to Yosemite 10.10 (14A389) directly using "Install OS X Yosemite.app", so far so good, except some video glitches during install process. I'm using 10-13 package.
  9. Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

@testubabe I'm trying to get NVS 4200M up, could you please post a guide on how you achive that??
  10. Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

@tluck You are a real legend!! 0) Wifi speed: I'm happy with current speed, so let it be. 1) NVS 4200M: found testubabe's post, will keep looking into the problem. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/285678-lenovo-thinkpad-t420-with-uefi-only/page-64?do=findComment&comment=2052587 2) Card reader: Never mind, I got USB card reader too. 3) Fingerprint: seems the TrueSuite link provided by espamac is down. Searched around, found TrueSuite causing login problems on 10.9 Mavericks. Gave up. Not a big deal. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/285678-lenovo-thinkpad-t420-with-uefi-only/page-6?do=findComment&comment=1908748 But I read you are booting Win7 using uefi in your post following up. I installed win7 using uefi but got fingerprint incompatibility problem. Although lenovo provided a temp workaround but seems not so throughly, fingerprint reader got lost from time to time on boot, so I reverted back to bios boot. How do you get over it?? http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/Fingerprint-reader-is-not-compatible-with-UEFI-Lenovo-Tech/m-p/428847/highlight/true#M43287 4) USB3 expresscard: My card is easily pulled out too, don't use it too aften. I can live without it.

Got my dw1510, got it installed, rebranded, now up and running at 300mbps and can do 20MB/s transfer rate under OSX, but only 270mbps and 10MB/s transfer rate under Windows 7, is this normal?? driver problem?? My router is Netgear WNDR3700v2 running Gargoyle v1.6.2, and using 5GHz 40MHz bandwith. Just asking. I'm satisfied with the transfer rate, using wifi just for surfing, prefer wired giganet to do large file transfer. Now my OSX is running smoothly, wifi is up, but I couldn't help wondering(forgive my greedness): 1, What's the real problem with discrete graphics?? So far as I read, nearly all guides and tutorial disables optimus/nvidia card or drop mcfg. Is it only because sleep problem? If I can live with it, where should I start to get discrete NVS 4200M working?? 2, Card reader. also because of sleep problem?? 3, Fingerprint reader. no driver?? seems detected by OSX. 4, Expresscard. I got a USB 3.0 expresscard with NEC chip, which could be detected by OSX(showing USB controller in menu bar), but refused to work with plugged flash drives. Nevermind, just asking, maybe card problem, this very expresscard can't do hot-plug even under Windows. Thanks again for this greate guide. Good job, tluck.

[sOLVED] Boot up using Windows 8 disk and Shift-F10 to open command window, use diskpart>>list volume to get corresponding drive letter, then bcdboot f:\windows /s d: /f uefi to copy uefi boot files to reserved partition. where f:\ is my Windows 7 drive and d: is its reserved partition. It seems to work only if the BIOS set to "Legacy First", or get a BSOD. And the boot screen only a progress bar, no Windows logo, But it boots. Then I tried to set Windows 7 to default.Hit F2 in Clover boot menu to store log to preboot.log, get corresponding device path and add it into the config.list. Done. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey guys. Currently I select boot disk using F12 in BIOS. Is there a way to dual boot using bootmgr or Clover?? The OSX lays on one disk using GPT and Windows lays on another disk using MBR. Thanks in advanced. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I tried to play with config.plist, comment out GUI>>Hide>>Windows, and set Scan>>Legacy=true, Windows partitions showed up but won't boot after a XP style Windows logo, and OSX boot failed too. I had to boot into Windows using F12, mount the ESP and revert config.plist to original.

[sOLVED] Just hit Space bar to come over it. @Tluck I came across several problems as below, I think it should be better to note them in this great guide: 1, When boots up the installer sticking at: "To pair a Bluetooth keyboard, turn it on and wait for your computer to connect to it.” Just hit Space bar to come over it. 2, When installer hangs at: "About a second remaining” Don’t Panic!! This very second takes about 10 minutes or more to go, just wait for the installer reboot the computer and continue the installation. The whole install process take nearly 1 hour to complete. 3, When first boot from HD, asked: “How Do You Connect?” Select: “My computer does not connect to the Internet” and set up network later after install the NIC driver. And, thanks for this great guide!! I'm running Mavericks 10.9.5 now, grab a dw1510 another day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for the great work. I tried T420_UEFI-Clover-b2932-10.8.8_10.9.5_10.10.GM1_2014-09-30.zip with Mavericks 10.9.5 and 10.9.4, both got stuck at asking for bluetooth keyboard screen. USB mouse working but no luck with internal keyboard. And I got no USB keyboard at home... I followed the instructions: patition with GUID, createinstallmedia, rename ACPI.1366x768 and config.1366x768.plist, disable optimus and virtulization. I got one msata ssd and another one in ultrabay, did that causing the problem?? They both works under Windows7. Currently I'm booting Windows from msata, and is planning to erase the ultrabay ssd for Mavericks. I got Thinkpad T420(4180-J4C) Core i5-2410M/HD3000/NVS 4200M(disabled)/1366x768/8G. Did I miss something or the VoodooPS2 broken?
  14. looks really complex to me, i'll give it a try another day.
