    Wacom MobileStudio Pro

Hey Bertolin, thanks for joining the discussion. I'm willing to try but will not buy it right away. I am a bit scared because last time I bought the Cintiq Companion 2 with the Broadwell and I never could make it work under OS X. Well I resold it quickly because of it. You have a lot of experience with this, can you tell me what would be the necessary steps to check this ? What modification you think needs to be done compared to the Cintiq Companion 2 install steps ? What do you think will work out of the box and what may need custom work ? Regarding the MobileStudio 16" I must say that I'm really excited by the larger screen size. Too bad they did not went for 4:3 or at least 16:10 aspect ratio. Love the aspect ratio on my iPad Pro too bad the pencil is not has good as a wacom one in term of sensitivity. Wacom has indeed gone stingy on the accessories even for the new Cintiq Pro won't come with the ExpressKey (which sells for an additional $100) ! Still hesitating on the Cintiq Pro 16" vs the MobileStudio Pro 16 but if the MobileStudio Pro 16" runs OS X it's a no brainer. Thanks for your help.

    Wacom MobileStudio Pro

Hi, the new Wacom MobileStudio Pro has just been release in two flavors (13.3 and 15.6"). Would love to know if the (close to) 16" model can run MacOS ? Has someone tried it yet or planning to try ? Is there a way to know if it will work without buying and trying ? Wonder if anyone has managed to make OS X work well with Nvidia mobile Quadro. It seems it may be possible http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/273621-guide-os-x-lion-on-thinkpad-w520/ Also would be interesting to assemble an installing guide like there is one for the Cintiq Companion 2. CINTIQ COMPANION 2!

Oh yes forgot to mention that, don't trash the current Win 8.1 install. Even the recovery USB won't let it get you back the Win 8.1 install. You really have to clone the drive to keep it. I am returning now my Cintiq to Wacom for a reinstall, I have found all the drivers for the Cintiq except the one to make it a peripheral and Wacom does not have an installer, you have to return it for them to install it !!!

    CINTIQ COMPANION 2!

Hi Frestyl, I don't have the time for the moment to play with my cintiq to fix the graphic card problem. I think the main problem with the ACPI is coming from the fakesmc. You can replace the files on your clover usb by these ones : https://dl.dropboxus...04/Good EFI.zip and it will work. Please keep me posted on your progress.

    CINTIQ COMPANION 2!

Hi everyone, I have managed to boot to the installer yesterday and install OS X on a USB drive. I had to do modifications to the kext used and the config.plist. The Iris 6100 graphic acceleration does not work but I found a detailed article on how to make it work. I have not tried yet to install the Wacom driver but I guess it should work. Single finger touch was working OOB. I will post a full guide once I get the Iris 6100 to work and get a usable setup. By the way, has anyone managed to install OS X after shrinking the Windows partition ? It does not seem to work and the OS X installer would not let me select the new partition to install OS X on it. What would be the solution to make it dual boot ? Does OS X have to sit on the partition 1 ? Without the graphic acceleration and running on the USB drive OS X is pretty slow... Thanks again for your help.

    CINTIQ COMPANION 2!

There was still the add PNLF fix activated in the DSDT Fix mask, I've tried to deactivate it but it does the same and stop at ACPI. I've also tried every single boot option, If I'm not loading the kext, I'm getting further but it freezes anyway, see the screen I get here : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18048904/IMG_4210.JPG How have you come up with the patches for the DSDT file, I've extracted it using clover but now I suppose I have to patch it... How have you patched yours ? Do you have a good reference on how to do this ? Also how have you come up with the modified config.plist files ? Any guidelines on how to do this ? I'm just trying to understand what is the process that you have used coming from CC1 to CC2, I guess I can reapply this to this version. The MB is surely different between Haswell vs Broadwell.

    CINTIQ COMPANION 2!

Hi atmark, thanks for all the trials you have made and the clue about the sleep. I just woke up and will try couple of things today and will keep you posted. I'm pretty sure mactabletman should have more info since he has spent so much time crafting the CC1 install and then ported it to the CC2. Ok I had not seen the answer of mactabletman, I'm still sleepy Ok thanks I'm going to try to uncheck all the DSDT fixes and report after. I might also try to extract the DSDT myself like Rehabman explains it here : https://github.com/RehabMan/HP-ProBook-4x30s-DSDT-Patch/wiki/How-to-patch-your-DSDT For the USB installer, I have used for the moment the method with the sudo command, I might try the other one but I have the feeling that it is not that the problem, especially people mentioned problem on with the drag and drop one, not the sudo one... Do you think it can make a difference ?

    CINTIQ COMPANION 2!

Hi atmark, thank you for your help. Yes I've used a brand new USB3 stick that is pretty fast. Here is the last screen I get before it freezes : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18048904/image1.JPG The thing is that I never reach the Yosemite installer... I'm going to try right now with the files from your installer EFI partition. Hi atmark, I've tried with your files in the EFI partition and it does exactly the same, it freezes on the same screen that I have posted and I never get to the installer. I've tried also with a more recent version of clover but get to the same result...

    CINTIQ COMPANION 2!

Hi, finally got my hands on the enhanced model. I followed the instructions to the letter and tried 5 times to recreate the usb installer drive and install but I keep running into a problem : I manage to make the usb drive boot to clover, I have bootcamp theme so I click on the orange disk that represent the installer, it then switch to the apple logo but right after reboot. So in the end I never reach the installer. When I put the safe mode or verbose mode from Clover (right click), I can see that it stops and freezes at the ACPI line. The CC2 Enhanced model is running on a Broadwell CPU (core i7-5557U) and surely has different MB chipsets than the other CC2. I am really a noob with this so does anyone has an idea what might be wrong and how to fix it ? The core i7-5557u is also running on the MacBook Pro (13-inch Retina Early 2015) - should I changed the clover config.plist to match that Mac ID ? I guess there are also other things to modify... Any help would be highly appreciated, can't wait to make this dream come true

    CINTIQ COMPANION 2!

Hi mactabletman, good to see we are on the same wavelength. Yes no hotkeys and no touch screen is really making the modbook less attractive. I've also understood that the BCM94352Z NGFF M.2. is the only option at the time for Yosemite, a bit expensive but still cheap compared to the modbook. Can't wait to get my hands on the Cintiq Companion 2 now. Do you think that your guide will work out of the box on the broadwell version or you can see some part that would need to be modified ?

    CINTIQ COMPANION 2!

Hi midi, thank you for your answer if I've understood well this new cintiq OSx86 has been possible thank to your knowledge and work so thank you also for that . Sure I saw the video of mactabletman on youtube unmounting it to install ram , he had a Wifi module for replacement too but the new wifi module is smaller and seems to have a different connector. Do you know a Wifi module that would work with OS X and compatible with this connector ? I guess OS X only support specific list of Wifi chipset and we just have to find one that has the right form factor and connector. Do you have a list of these compatible chipsets ? (I guess I could do a bit of search here and find them) If we don't find and adequate one on the market and if we manage to find the data signals on the motherboard connector side, I might be able to do a PCB layout for one and get it assembled in China. I live in HK which is near Shenzhen, I also have experience in designing PCBs with Wifi. This new cintiq companion on OSX if fully functional (wifi is really the last crucial thing) would be even better than a mod book pro, can't wait to get it. P.S.: Indeed R.I.P VAIO I still remember buying a PCG-C1 XN 15 years ago I loved it so much.

    CINTIQ COMPANION 2!

Mactabletman this is also like my dream device, thank you so much for your work, it is priceless. Have you found a solution to get the wifi working ? That's the only annoying thing about it. I'm an electrical engineer, don't know if I can be of any help. I'm still waiting for Wacom to release the Broadwell (enhanced) version though...
