  1. Hey all, I tried upgrading from 10.5.1 to 10.5.4 using steps Netkas has outlined. When I saw the AppleIntelPowerManagement.kext (or whatever it's proper name is) show up, I deleted it and emptied the trash. A kernel panic immediately happened when I did that. Now whenever I boot, my screen sits at the grey screen with the little pinwheel and hangs. I tried reverting to a backuped copy of my Extensions folder as well as what I thought to be a backuped copy of my mach_kernal. No luck. The error I get in -v mode when the system hangs is something relating to FireWire and it not being secure, defaulting to version 6.0 (I can clairify this if needed). So I am now unable to boot my OS. Any ideas, or direction? :-\ jephyb
  2. FS: Core Duo Mac mini loaded with extras!

I'm interested. $20 for everything. Sold? EDIT: Did someone say something about sandwhiches?
  3. 2LMan: When you wake from sleep, do you use the keyboard or click the mouse? For some reason when I wake from sleep with the mouse, I just get a black screen, but the keyboard works fine. EDIT: Also, when you try and wake it from sleep, can you hear the hard drive and fans resuming, or just nothing?
  4. Leo won't boot because of Airport?

Might not even be the Airport that's causing the problem. It might be trying to load something after successfully loading the Airport, and that is causing it to hang. EDIT: Don't think this is the problem, but you might try replacing the vanilla AppleSMBIOS.kext with the one included in the EFI you downloaded.
  5. Thanks, ~pcwiz. Unfortunately, I was thinking the same thing you were... Basically how Apple included something in their drivers for Leopard that increases amount of power required for hardware acceleration. What boggles me, is how other users using the 7900 have no problems at all! So weird, I just installed ToH's and as soon as hardware acceleration is enabled, fans go crazy. I dunno, I think I'm just going to give up on this idea, live with it, and when my fans EDIT: '{censored}' out, I'll try and RMA it. That or run Tiger.
  6. How do you become a Guru?

~pcwiz, You want to become a guru? If you help me solve my issues, I'll consider you a guru in my eyes. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry502139 http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...&pid=506601 jephyb.
  7. NVIDIA cards in LEO yet?

Hmm...maybe a dumb question, but what do you mean you had to patch the NVDAResman.kext file? EDIT: If you meant patch it for AMD...then nevermind. I'm a tard.
  8. ...anyone have any ideas?? This is killing me, none have my posts have been answered.
  9. For those keeping track, I tried swapping kexts out for BM's kexts, ToH kexts, and Vanilla kexts. Also I tried Tiger kexts. The Tiger kexts seemed to get rid of the problem, but then I don't have QE capibilities. The problem lies in the NVDAResman and NVDANV40Hal.kext files... All the other GeForce kexts had the same noisy result between Tiger and Leopard. I found when those 2 were NOT loaded, the fan was normal, but once again, no QE/CI. Still trying to figure out why Tiger's NVDANV40Hal and/or NVDAResman kexts allow QE and QI with normal fan speeds (in Tiger), but Leopard's make it crazy fast...
  10. NVIDIA cards in LEO yet?

While we're on this topic, I thought I'd throw out another little stumper for you all... I'm running a 10.4.8 partition (JaS) and 10.5 partition(BrazilMac). On both I have NVinject installed for my 7900. When I boot into Tiger, everything is fine. When I boot into Leopard, the fan on my graphics card sounds like a jet engine taking off. I don't think it's related to NVinject drivers, and no other drivers (Natit, Titan) are in the extensions folder. Still does this even when booted into Safe Mode (-x). I am running a GeForce 7900 GS on an Asus P5W DH Deluxe Mobo. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated! I really don't want to kill my fan from these high RPMs jephyb
  11. Sorry to say I haven't had any luck. THere's gotta be some change or addition to a kext file from Tiger to Leopard... I actually booted up into Safe Mode (-x) and the fan still does that, so I believe it is related to a stock kext in Leopard. If anyone get anywhere, be sure to post. I'm at work, but I'll fiddle with it once again when I get home. jephyb
  12. Yeah, did that. Made sure all other graphics drivers were outta there.
  13. Speedstep on Leopard?

Hello...I have an issue some people think is SpeedStep related. I'm running an Intel e7650 on an Asus P5W DH Deluxe Mobo. When I boot into Leopard, no matter what graphics kexts are installed, the fan on my graphics card ramps up its speed and gets crazy loud. Sounds fine in Tiger, just in Leo. Does this sound like a SS issue? GFX card is GeForce 7900 GS
  14. EFI Post Install Package

Same here. I followed the instructions exactly. Ran script. Made the replacements with dsmos, AppleSMBIOS, ACPIPlatform, vanilla kernel. Repaired permissions and either get endless reboots or black screen. Stumped. Processor is Intel e7650, Mobo is Asus P5W DH Deluxe. Poo.
  15. Hey guys! This is kind of a curious question. I'm running BrazilMac's 10.5 and JaS' 10.4.8 When I boot into Leopard, the fan on my video card doubles in both speed and volume. It happens right after the grey apple is done loading. In Tiger, it is very quiet. I am running NVinject drivers, but because I'm running the same ones for Leo and Tiger, I don't believe that is the problem. I've also tried Natit and Titan, both of which have the same effect...the increased speed. I had to boot into safe mode once, and the video card stayed quiet. System Profiler still showed NVinject was loaded, so it leads me to believe it's some other extension/kext that got added or changed for Leo's release. I'm just kinda paranoid. I don't mind the noise really, just the fact that it could get burnt our or whatever twice as fast. Anyone have any advice?
