  1. ASUS G51VX- Anyone try this laptop yet?

Yes using a 3.5mm usb realtek unit off ebay. It came with drivers for osx 10.4 and 10.5. I ran the 10.5 drivers and using them as I type now! Not bad for $15 us shipped. Still trying to get an atheros 5001 working though as I would like to not have usb sticking out (no big deal but unsightly) and I am triple booting Win 7 and ExpressGate. The mini pci-e attheros works for those two but I can't figure it out for SL yet. Obtw I have the bestbuy G60, cpu and ram reporting wrong on info, no keyboard volume control but all else seems to run fine, updated to 10.6.2 and choppy sound got fixed. I need more research and time to fix the little things now.
  2. I know this is no answer but Kalyway10.5.1 up to 10.5.2. worked out of the box for me on my DV9207 with 7600 GO 256mb. Also I installed drivers from disk to iATKOS ok too.
  3. HP Dv6000 & Dv9000 Intel Only

10.5.2 is supposed to have lots of fixes and increase speed. I used it and am happy.
  4. HP Dv6000 & Dv9000 Intel Only

Webcam was automatically recognized with iATKOS and Kalyway for me. The card reader from what I have read will never work as HP does not use standard usb drives, your best bet would be an external adapter.
  5. HP Dv6000 & Dv9000 Intel Only

My final setup goes like this, I was quad booting but dumped Vista. 1) Installed XpMCE2k5 on first partition 2) Installed iAtkos 1 then iAtkos r2 then Kaly on partition 2 (I did the loading over each other as some software included on distros and not on others) btw iAtkos has webcam op that is better. MBR installs. 3) Installed PclinuxOS2K7 and grub to access non active Dows partition. Grub has PClinux linux (safe) Dows Mac entries Mac option has Dows and Mac options. I am considering dumping Windows as I am finding a viable OS option for gaming in in OSX!!!!!! Who would have ever thought? DV9207 with Dell 1490 thanks to BlueDragon_1971 Thanks to all who made this possible!
  6. HP Dv6000 & Dv9000 Intel Only

My DV9207 working with iATKOS 1 but ir2 patched iso would fail! So you may want to try patching who knows. Obtw I got a $10 Dell 1490 minipci wireless card off ebay abd using BlueDragon_1971's modded bios , wireless works fine. it also works better in dows than the 3945! Am having issues with sleep and screensaver, I think thats all, my ir remote works . Now booting XP(games),Vista(testing),OSX86(testing),PCLinuxOS(general computing) I may have to reinstall or unhide partition so i can use Quickplay again. A shout out to all who made this possible
  7. HP dv6000 & dv9000 series

Do yourself a favor like I did, buy a 1490 off ebay $10 shipped, apply BlueDragon1971's modded bios , or mod your own (follow directions in thread) and turn on lappy ,Save the grief for other device.
  8. HP dv6000 & dv9000 series

Search for BlueDragon 1971 as he posted a modified bios that works like a charm! Also someone posted a bios modding program but i was too chicken to try that as bad bios means no booting, i.e. lappy becomes door stop.
  9. HP dv6000 & dv9000 series

Q, hp locks wireless to hp id so when swapping to 1390 you need to flash bios to override lock
  10. HP dv6000 & dv9000 series

The DV9207 needs a bios flash, search this thread for it.
  11. Linux Distributions

This is my first post so here goes, Slack is sweet but takes some work. For my ease of use and compatiblity with my systems eMachines T3265 AthlonXP 3200 + Nvidia 6800 gt and my Lappy eMachines M6811 Athlon 64 3200 + Mobile 9600, These two obscure ditros ROCK! PcLinuxOnline and Kanotix64. If you are looking for a KDE based distro I recomend trying these, they are both live-cd's that can be installed. PCLOS for 32 bit is mandriva based that TEXSTAR has done wonders with, ATI and Nvidia 3D versions and a modified synaptic for package management. Kanotix 64 is debian based so it works nicely also.
