    Did Leopard kill my motherboard?

That is what I would say, because after you said that you could hear drives/fans spinning, I think that the mainboard is still taking power to them, and most of the broken bits I see on laptops are the screen, or the 650v invertor up there as well.
  2. I am unsure about the battery life, because the Nikon D40 uses an ENEL-9 battery, whereas the Nikon D80 uses the ENEL-3E battery, that is the same as the D200/D300. As quoted by Nikon, the battery life on the stock D40 (not the D40x model) is 470 shots, which is for high quality JPEG, whereas the figures for the D80 are somewhere in the region of 600. So, going by that, if you are after a D40x, then I would hazard a guess, that given the higher sensor rating, and not in controlled usage conditions that you would be looking at somewhere between 350 - 400 JPEG. I hope that this is some help. EDIT: If you are going for a Nikon, then why not go for the D80, as these can be bought for not too much more than the D40x, and the D80 has a lot more to it. 11 area sensor, whereas the D40x has three. Also the other big thing is that the D80 has an extendable grip, with vertical controls and space for another battery on there as well. The main point to realise, though is that the D40/40x is a very small camera, and it has an uncomfortable shape for anyone with bigger than average hands. The D80 is a very good machine, and in my opinion, is a good camera to grow in to, whereas the D40 could leave you very disappointed with what it actually is able to do.

Is There Another Name Besides Hackintosh

Don't know about another name... Perhaps suggestions would be good, just to see what people come up with!

Help! How do I do this?

The mainboard isn't listed, it is a generic Acer job in the laptop, running an ATI RS485MC/RX485 SB460 chipset. I've had a look around, and cannot find anything mentioned in the forum, but I am willing to give it a try anyway, because I am a little annoyed about the latest Microsith offering, and I would rather go back to the beloved Mac anyway; but the reason I shifted away in the first place is a long story (and probably one that has been heard a million times before). The Macbook Pro is on order! As of the OSx86 system, I already have got this; I am grateful for the response on how to get it, but if anyone else posts, please do not say these things, becasue I don't want anyone to get trouble on my behalf! If it does work, it is just a matter of convincing the other half that OSX is good, and Windows is evil. Anyone got any ideas on how to do that???

Help! How do I do this?

I am new to this installing OSX on a 'native' PC, and I am totally lost! The main problem is how do I do it? I have read through the forum, and everything that I have read, I have become more and more confused on! Is there any tutorial on how it is done? Or is it a case of just throw the things in and learn by error? The machine I am wanting to install to is: AMD Turion TL52, 1GB Ram, ATI X1300 Any help would be really appreciated!
