  1. Hi everyone, since I had trouble to get bluetooth to work on my newly bought wifi / bluetooth half Mini PCIe card AR9285, I figured it would be helpful to some of you how I got it to work. Prerequisites: 10.8.2 with clover boot loader Clover boot loader comes with a feature, that loads kexts before the system kexts are loaded. While I tried to install my new bluetooth module I was annoyed by the errors I got while booting. Not because of the errors itselves, but because of the delays while booting. So I just tried to place the firmware kext "IOath3kfrmwr.kext" into the kext folder of the EFI partition. Now the firmware is loaded before any of the /S/L/E kexts and I do have no more errors while booting :-) Even after sleep (I disabled hibernation cause it took way to long to get to sleep mode), bluetooth is ready right after the desktop appears. I can use my magic mouse without any issues (2 finger wipe disabled since this feature makes the mouse disconnecting sometimes), everything else works just as it supposed to work. Cheers, Mike

    Brightness Control not fully working...

OK, I followed http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/268219-acpi-backlight-driver/. Now I do have the brightness control in Monitor section working and I do have toggle brightness on battery as well. Still don't have OSD working though... Any ideas?
  3. Hi, I'm having a weird problem with iTunes. While I can watch trailers thru the browser and in iTunes podcasts without any issues, I cant watch trailers in the movies section. I'm getting audio, but video is just a messy green, somehow moving picture. Unfortunately, I can't attach a screenshot, cause all there is to see is the back of the movie player. Is anybody observing the same issue or is it just me?

    Brightness Control not fully working...

    Yeah, that's what I thought. I just don't know how ;-)
  5. Hi, I'm setting up ML on my Lenovo U410 and pretty happy with this machine. Problem: My brightness control is working thru fn keys, Kext Wizard tells me, that com.apple.driver.AppleBacklight (170.2.3) and com.apple.driver.AppleBacklightExpert (1.0.4) are loaded and I do have the brightness bar in System Preferences in the monitor section. But somehow, I dont have the OSD popping up when I toggle brightness using my fn keys. I can't change brightness using the brightness bar in Monitor section neither. And therefore, I don't have the reduce brightness on battery feature working. Another point why I want this to work is, my notebook has a lot of steps from highest to lowest brightness... It almost takes about 20 sec to get from highest to lowest brightness... Any help would be appreciated ...

    Lenovo T420 DSDT Help

    Hi there, figured out what the problem was... I was missing the IRQNoFlags of Name (BUF0, ResourceTemplate () { IRQNoFlags () {0} IRQNoFlags () {8} IRQNoFlags () {11} IRQNoFlags () {15} Memory32Fixed (ReadOnly, 0xFED00000, // Address Base 0x00000400, // Address Length ) }) in the HPET Device :-)

    Lenovo T420 DSDT Help

Hi everyone, I am having some trouble to patch my own Vanilla DSDT to get a working audio device. I downloaded a DSDT for a Lenovo T420 provided by manwe150 witch works fine for audio with patched applehda.kext. Now when I try to add the Methods from manwe150's DSDT into my own, the audio device won't show up in device manager no more. Since I don't have any experience with patching DSDT I don't now where to start looking. I am using DSDTSE right now to compile my DSDT.aml, Please find attached 2 DSDT files one with working audio, one without. dsdt_working_audio.aml.zip dsdt.aml.zip

ML 10.8.2 8086:1e20 no audio out

    OK, got it working. At least internal speakers with autoswitch to headphone. No sound thru HDMI so far with my machine Device (HDEF) { Name (_ADR, 0x001B0000) Name (_S3D, 0x03) Name (RID, Zero) Name (_PRW, Package (0x02) { 0x0D, 0x04 }) Method (_PSW, 1, NotSerialized) { Noop } Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) { Store (Package (0x0E) { "built-in", Buffer (One) { 0x01 }, "Codec-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x3E, 0x3A, 0xEC, 0x10 }, "layout-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x0C, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 }, "model", Buffer (0x1A) { "HD Audio Conexant Cx20590" }, "device-type", Buffer (0x11) { "Audio Controller" }, "hda-gfx", Buffer (0x0A) { "onboard-1" }, "PinConfigurations", Buffer (Zero) {} }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) } } } AppleHDA.kext.zip
  9. Hi, I've got some trouble getting my audio out to work. I'm running ML 10.8.2 with custom DSDT and AppleHDA.kext. Audio input seems to work, at least I get some movement in System Preferences Audio input. Everything regarding audio out shows up, I've got a device in Device Manager, OSD when I push my fn keys to toggle sound. My Notebook recognizes, if I plug in headphones and switches the output device to headphones. Still got some errors though (see attached screenshot "dmesg"). So I dont think, there's much left to be done to get audio out working, but I dont know where to look... If you need any more information, let me know :-)

    Lenovo U410 few little issues

Hi, made my audio device show up in System Information. I still get some errors while booting, so I still dont have audio thru applehda.kext. But I'm getting closer somehow :-) Sound assertion "0 == pathMap_aDriverInstance" failed in AppleHDADriver at line 2037 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != createAudioEngines ( fPathMap_aDriverInstance )" failed in AppleHDADriver at line 207 goto Exit Sound assertion "false == me->completeStart ()" failed in AppleHDADriver at line 996 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 == pathMap_aDriverInstance" failed in AppleHDADriver at line 2037 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != createAudioEngines ( fPathMap_aDriverInstance )" failed in AppleHDADriver at line 207 goto Exit Sound assertion "false == me->completeStart ()" failed in AppleHDADriver at line 996 goto Exit

    Lenovo U410 few little issues

Ok, got Ethernet to show up in System Preferences... I installed Apple8169Ethernet.kext and voila, Ethernet is showing up. Now I have access to App Store. Don´t know if Ethernet is actually working, but since I use wifi only, I don´t care :-) OSD for brightness control left to be fixed Mike

    Lenovo U410 few little issues

Hi, I recently bought myself a nice little Lenovo U410 Specs: - CPU type Intel Core i3 3217U (Ivy Bridge) - CPU speed 1700 Mhz - Graphics HD400/Nvidia GeForce 610M nvidia optimus - RAM 8GB, 500GB HD, 24GB SSD - Sound: 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family PCI Express High Definition Audio Controller (8086:1e20) - LAN Realtek RTL8101E/RTL8102E (10ec:8136) - Wifi: Some intel centrino chipset -> to be replaced - Card reader - 2x USB3 port (8086:1e31) - 2x USB2 port - Webcam - Synaptic touchpad As I understand, I dont need to care about the GeForce Optimus Card. I did a ##### install using the Fusion guide and osx is running pretty stable. I had do do some patches in DSDT to get sleep working -> needed to patch UHCI to step down the (not working) USB3 ports to USB2 standards. I needed to remove the XHCI kext from IOUSBFamily.kext to get the webcam working. Some things are still bugging me: - Is there a way to get my audio working without voodoohda? its working, but I cant autoswitch between earphone jack and internal speakers. Right now, I have to switch die output device thru system settings. - brightness control is working, but I'd like to patch DSDT to set the control to a few steps. Right now, I dont see the OSD when I change brightness thru fn keys and since this Ultrabook has numerous steps between full and lowest brightness, it takes almost 20 secs to get from one end to the other. - Cant get the ethernet to show up in system settings... Other than that this little thing is awesome... Cheers, Mike
