How to Solve Imessage Login Problem

I updated my Mavericks system from 10.9.3 to 10.9.4 with the combo update today and could not sign into Messages or Facetime. I edited my nvram.xxx.plist as you explained in your post, rebooted, and all is fine now. Thank you for this very easy solution.

    Mavericks Messages Fix

I know there are many posts about this topic. That said, I wanted to post one that works consistently for myself and hopefully for you as well. None of the steps are new, but their order of execution is important. I found all this information here on InsanelyMac. I have done this on a Mountain Lion to Mavericks upgrade installation as well as a fresh Mavericks installation. 1) Sign out of Messages. 2) Restart. 3) Sign into iTunes with your Apple ID. 4) Enter your credit card information in Account Information. 5) Restart. 6) Install Chameleon-2.2svn-r2269.pkg and its FileNVRAM module (InsanelyMac>Downloads). 7) Restart. 8) Sign into Messages. 9) You may delete the FileNVRAM module now and remove your credit card information as well if you like. The restarts between steps are important. I hope this helps someone.
  4. I have been using a Logitech HD Webcam C270 with Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, and now Mavericks with no problems. OOTB.
  5. Thank you very,very much!

    Anyone got working SleepEnabler?

These two together enable sleep on my system. The AppleRTC.kext has been patched. I got the SleepEnabler.kext from OSx86.net. Good luck. + I was helped myself when I had the same problem: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=280964&st=0&p=1837128entry1837128 Archive.zip

    External USB Optical Drive

I still cannot get my external usb optical drive to work with DVDPlayer.app, but I found this: h**p://macnuts.pixnet.net/blog/post/36791642. I really had my hopes up, but it just quits on my system. Maybe someone with more know-how can do something with it. Sorry for not posting something more helpful. My problem has been resolved. Thank you. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/282487-how-to-fix-dvd-player-error-70012/

    External USB Optical Drive

Hello JUN Ho. Thank you for your reply. I tried the advice in the link two times, but it just caused DVD Player.app to crash with a new error: DVD Player quit unexpectedly. The error message also had an option to send a report to Apple (attached). The drive is shown correctly in System Information, and the drive's name is shown on the open/eject button on the menu bar. Still stumped. Report.rtf
  11. I have an external Pioneer DVR 107D usb optical drive. No internal optical drive. It works fine, but DVD Player.app gives "no valid device found" error when opened. VLC player works with it, but I would prefer to use the native app. Any help appreciated.
  12. Hello. I find 16 instances of "Internal" when I search through this executable file. Which four need to be replaced?

    Sleep Enabler Universal

UPDATE 2: Hello eep357. You were right. I had not patched my ML original AppleRTC.kext properly. I learned how to from this post: h**p://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=276066&st=0. It was important to make sure the kext was in the Extra/Extensions folder before I ran the script in the OP. After it was patched, I installed it with Kext Utility to S/L/E and everything is fine now. Thank you for your advice. I guess the attached kext from Snow Leopard in my previous post can be deleted if the Moderator wishes.

    Sleep Enabler Universal

UPDATE: From this thread: h**p://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=253992&st=0. Replaced the AppleRTC.kext in S/L/E with the kext from Snow Leopard 10.6.3. Removed ElliottForceLegacyRTC.kext and EvOreboot.kext. No CMOS resets anymore and sleep is working properly. I tested this on my system several times with no problems so far (over several hours). Did not touch my DSDT.aml. Hope this helps. AppleRTC.kext.zip (From Snow Leopard 10.6.3)
