    Radeon R9 280X Triple Monitor Solution

    I finally managed to get all three of my monitors working with my Radeon R9 280X (model ASUS-R9280X-DC2T-3GD5). Previously, using more than 2 monitors would result in my system freezing until I unplugged one of the outputs. After trying patched framebuffers and a variety of different port configurations I finally solved my problem! It turns out the solution was to switch to using the card in UEFI GOP mode. To accomplish this you need to be using Clover in UEFI mode (not CloverEFI), and your motherboard needs to be set so that the GPU runs in UEFI GOP mode. On my motherboard this meant disabling CSM. My system now runs great with all three monitors, either using GraphicsEnabler=No or GraphicsEnabler=Yes along with a patched framebuffer. This may also work for other AMD cards that exhibit similar behaviour when used with three monitors.
  2. Hi Zenith432, is there any way to get proper PME working on ASM1042? I noticed a thread about a linux usb3 driver that stated that the asm1042 can't save/restore its state fast enough. The specific post can be found here: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-usb/msg65342.html And the suggested patch: --- drivers/usb/host/xhci.c | 8 ++++---- 1 files changed, 4 insertions(+), 4 deletions(-) diff --git a/drivers/usb/host/xhci.c b/drivers/usb/host/xhci.c index afdc73e..73e8817 100644 --- a/drivers/usb/host/xhci.c +++ b/drivers/usb/host/xhci.c @@ -795,8 +795,8 @@ int xhci_suspend(struct xhci_hcd *xhci) command = xhci_readl(xhci, &xhci->op_regs->command); command |= CMD_CSS; xhci_writel(xhci, command, &xhci->op_regs->command); - if (handshake(xhci, &xhci->op_regs->status, STS_SAVE, 0, 10*100)) { - xhci_warn(xhci, "WARN: xHC CMD_CSS timeout\n"); + if (handshake(xhci, &xhci->op_regs->status, STS_SAVE, 0, 10 * 1000)) { + xhci_warn(xhci, "WARN: xHC save state timeout\n"); spin_unlock_irq(&xhci->lock); return -ETIMEDOUT; } @@ -848,8 +848,8 @@ int xhci_resume(struct xhci_hcd *xhci, bool hibernated) command |= CMD_CRS; xhci_writel(xhci, command, &xhci->op_regs->command); if (handshake(xhci, &xhci->op_regs->status, - STS_RESTORE, 0, 10*100)) { - xhci_dbg(xhci, "WARN: xHC CMD_CSS timeout\n"); + STS_RESTORE, 0, 10 * 1000)) { + xhci_warn(xhci, "WARN: xHC restore state timeout\n"); spin_unlock_irq(&xhci->lock); return -ETIMEDOUT; } -- Also, has there been any progress with VLI810 internal hubs working? I can help provide any information necessary to try to get them to work. Thank you for your great work!
  3. Awesome! v1.2.6d2 fixes KP with my dock that uses UASP. VLI810 internal hub still doesn't work though
  4. On USB3 ports not connected to the VLI810 hub I get around 100MBps with my USB3 thumbdrive (its rated speed). I will try with a USB3 connected SSD later.

    New Driver for Realtek RTL8111

    Thank you so much for the great driver! I was just wondering if you have considered incorporating the change dmazar made to checkLinkStatus() into your code. Without this change I too get cases where the link goes down and will not come back up. Would there be any downsides to other users by adding this change to your code?
  6. Thank you so much for the great work. I am using an Asus P9X79 Deluxe motherboard that has 8 USB 3.0 ports. 4 of the ports are connected to a VIA VLI810 hub. Although I can get the hub to show in About this Mac, USB 3.0 devices do not show up when connected to any of the ports controlled by the hub. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. xhcdump P9X79Deluxe ASM1042.txt
  7. The driver works great for me in Lion GM with a 5754 [14e4:167a], except it disconnects after waking from sleep (says cable disconnected). Kextunload and then kextload allows me to regain network functionality. I've also posted about the issue on the github. Thanks!
  8. I have a strange problem where any pci-e device (besides graphics card) will work for a random amount of time before it stops responding. Has anyone experienced anything like this or have any ideas what could be the cause? Could it be a DSDT issue? My system is: Dell XPS 720 Core 2 Quad Q6600 4GB DDR2 RAM EVGA Geforce GTX 260 Core 216 nforce 680i chipset - using 64 bit nforceata.kext for SATA/PATA sound blaster audigy 2 - using kX audio driver Any thoughts or input are greatly appreciated!!

  10. efi string This is the efi string for my ati x1600 mobility, devid 71c5. My laptop's edid is included in the string, so unless you have an asus w3j the string probably won't work for you.
  11. i have ati x1600 mobility and I removed ati1600controller.kext, atisupport.kext, atiframebuffer.kext, and IONDRVsupport.kext. Then I added my working ATINDRV.kext, ATIRNDRV.kext, and IONDRVSupport.kext from Leopard. Using the same efi string I used in leopard I have qe/ci and resolution change. @hanyang - I'm not sure if natit works in snow leopard. You might have to switch to a newer injector or efi string. @chico_stang - Did you need to edit your atiradeonx1000.kext or other kexts in leopard? If atiradeon1000.kext isn't loading because it doesn't have your card's id included you won't get qe/ci.

    ATI Radeon FireGL on Snow Leopard 10A432.

    Remove/rename ati1600controller.kext, atiframebuffer.kext, atisupport.kext, and iondrvsupport.kext. Copy your working atindrv.kext, atirndrv.kext, and iondrvsupport.kext from leopard to snow leopard. That's what worked for me with an x1600 mobility. Yours is closer to an x1700 i think? It should work pretty much the same i believe.

    cpu fan running too frequently

    http://code.google.com/p/xnu-speedstep/wiki/Installation Instructions on installation of the kext can be found above. http://code.google.com/p/xnu-speedstep/downloads/list And the link to the kext is above. I personally use that kext, but superhai has also made a variation that apparently supports more cpus. If you don't have success with the one above then superhai's kext would be your next option.

    cpu fan running too frequently

    Are you using a laptop? If so you probably need speedstep so the cpu doesn't run at full speed when it isnt needed. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showforum=163 You can find info and a kernel extension (kext) for speedstep in the forums linked to above. Welcome to the forums.
  15. i believe it should work the same as an MBR install as long as you format the drive using leopard's disk utility. Disk utility formats using a hybrid GUID/MBR partition map, allowing XP to boot. If anyone can confirm this it would be great.
