  1. Ah! That could really make sense! Oddly, no update dialog was shown, but still, I do remember the PayPal button in the update notices I got so far. Thank you very much for replying! Hmm, I guess I will reinstall it again then, but when the connection attempt reoccures, I will deny it.
  2. Hello guys, it's been a long time since I've been here but anyway, nobody cares I guess. 2 Days ago I booted up a backup of one of my Mavericks installations of my hack. As I am a very data conscious user, I have Little Snitch installed. It's a really good firewall made for (Mac) OS X, in my eyes a must have for every Mac user. As the boot process was nearly completed, Little Snitch showed me that HWMonitor.app wanted to connect to paypalobjects.com. This is really odd, as this Application doesn't seem to have any PayPal donate button or something similar. Sadly, I was too baffled and didn't make a screenshot of the Little Snitch alert. However, I have a screenshot of my settings, this is no evidence as one can easily make those rules by hand, but still. Why should I lie? I have no competitional websites nor softwares in the hackintosh scene (I'm just saying this, because of the controversy between the person mentioned below and other devs). I wanted to reproduce this behaviour, but it hasn't happened to me again. Do you guys know what's going on here? Have you encountered this before? I could not find anything on the web. I installed the HWMonitor.app with the FakeSMC apps with one of Phonymacs postinstall packages. It was M ultibeas t, this has to be typed out as this is potential(!) malware. I already removed this software from my machine as I really don't want ANY communication between an Application that monitors temperatures of my hardware to ANYONE. If people choose to send all their data (roomtemperatures, health data, etc. pp. the industry never sleeps to become more creepy...) to someone even though they don't know what happens next, then that's not my problem - I don't want that. Please tell me your thoughts on this and please write here if you noticed this too! Greetings, hipunk

    Blue White G3 Case mod

    I _had_ a G3 casemod. I built it with an Asus P5GC-MX/1333, which isn't suitable for your needs. DDR2 or DDR3? You get nearly no speed benefits from DDR3, but it's cheaper or will get cheaper than DDR2 Ram.

    The best mainboards that fit, are µATX mainboards. They have a smaller form factor, which is perfect for using them in a G3/G4 casemod. PSU? I have a Xigmatek go green 400 watts power supply (NRP-PC402) I recommend it, because it's just labeled as a 400watts power supply. It really has 500watts, like the bigger model PC-502. It's also a quality PSU from Seasonic. It's super cheap but really good (unlike many/most other cheap PSUs).

    Blue White G3 Case mod

    Nope. Wasn't needed for me. Simply try it out with a battery or something. That's what I did. When you found the correct cable/prong mark it and start soldering!
  6. wow, mine looks awful in comparison to that. really nice (and a lot) work.

    G5 Casemod

    Ich würd zur ersten Variante tendieren ;D Muss ja auch nicht unbedingt Alu sein, was du da reinbaust
  8. Someone should make this sticky. This really solves USB/Firewire problems for many ppl out there that they got with 10.5.6 in a easy way, but you have to know that way! So make it more public plz
  9. This worked for me too. But I now I get random cursor lags. It doesn't matter if my mouse gets plugged into the mobo or my PCI Card. That lag is very annoying, do you also have such a problem? EDIT: I found out what the issue was: I simply had to rename/delete AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext, This is a kext that's responsible for DHCP/DRM {censored} and got introduced in 10.5.6. It produces problems with G92 Graphics chips (found on 8800 GT/GTS/etc. or 9800 GT/GTX/etc.), so that problem does not belong to this thing here.

    10.5.6=no wired ethernet and firewire

    Thank you for posting this. I finally removed AppleHPET.kext and now I have USB working again on 10.5.6 on a P5GC-MX/1333. Cost me about 7 clones from Backup back to my main Harddrive and 2 fresh installs with iPC. You should make advertising for this "fix". I had to search now for 4 days to find this f*cking damn kext, this should be made more public as a good fix for some problems with peripherials. Edit: After working with this for now one day, I found out that the cursor lags some rare times. Think I have to poke around more with dsdt patcher -.-

    Blue White G3 Case mod

    http://skitch.com/showgetter/ Maybe I will add some pics later today or tomorrow... My G3 Mod. I didn't know that so many guys here already did a G3 mod with a mATX mobo... Specs: Asus P5GC-MX/1333 Core2Duo E8200 @ 2.66GHz (Stock) 2 x 1GB Dual Channel 667MHz Ram 120GB Samsung Spinpoint unsing ATA GeForce 7200GS 256MB PCI Lan Card, the onboard Lan has no drivers for OS X The DVD drive was one I already had. It's the Samsung Super-Writemaster 18x. It's not so long as normals DVD drives. Everything is running fast and without big problems using vanilla kernel.
  13. I vote for a mix of yezero's and glasshouse's work. Glasshouse's work imo perfectcly connects to Insanelys current theme with the command button icon and faking Apple comps... €dit: lol, bugreport: Linking directly to posts doesn't work correctly. Fix it

  15. +1 I'm very sad that Apple switched to Intel. I was thoroughly fanboy of the PowerPC Chips. Intelmacs are (imo) no Macs anymore. That's the reason, why I am building a Hackintosh. Sad but true.
