  1. Can you share your config.plist here and ideally, kexts you have in CLOVER/kexts/Other ?

    I assume you're using DSDT.aml for HD 5450 Series, right ?

I managed to FINALLY get 10.12 update done thank you. But I can't seem to get the audio working with AppleALC 10.1.4 injecting it with KextWizard then rebuilding cache then rebooting which I have done several times successfully before  :poster_oops:

I've been at it all day lol. I have attached my config.plist and my kext folder if you could be kind enough to take a peek at it for me. Let me know if you need anything else. I sure do appreciate all the help.

    Specs:

    Mac SMBIOS 10,1

    5450 Video Card

    Q9400 CPU

    Troubleshoot Folder.zip

    DSDT.aml.zip

  2. Just upgraded my Dell 780 from the AppStore to Sierra 10.12.4 from fully working 10.12.1. Upon booting the progress bar is slower than usual. When it finally gets to when the screen goes to the smaller apple logo booting part, the screen goes black but with backlight on monitor and thats it.

I reinstalled Sierra 10.12.1 got it fully functioning and upgraded to 10.12.4 again and got the same black screen problem.

When I boot from my Sierra USB stick into my newly updated 10.12.4 Hard Drive it boots.

Kind of at a loss here. Any ideas?????

    My Specs:

    Dell 780 Mini Tower

    10,1 SMBIOS

    Q9400 Quad Core CPU

    Asus 5450 1GB Video Card

    Latest Clover v2.4 4035

  3. I only get to start using clover bootloader on USB drive, with the Fake ID 0x01660003 in graphics injection.

I gave up, and I'm trying with El Capitan, but didnt managed to get graphics and audio in el capitan...

Well that's further than I got. I made a Sierra installer USB for both legacy and UEFI and could never get either installer to even boot... just a black screen (except once I got the panic but not sure how to get the panic back instead of black screen). I'm thinking it must be a BIOS setting but never could get the either installer to boot. What BIOS settings did you use besides AHCI? Maybe together we can get this working. I've done a few other hackintoshes on different machines but this one is killing me!

  4. Anybody know how to get the Broadcom BCM57780 Ethernet working with Sierra 10.12? I've successfully got my Dell Precision T1500 up and running with Sierra but no ethernet as of yet. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!  :)

My specs for this build are:

    T1500 Dell Precision Desktop
    Imac 11,3 BIOS
    i7-880 3.07GHz CPU
    8GB Ram
    Broadcom BCM57780 Ethernet
    Nvidia Quadro FX580 for now

  5.

    @runo

Compare DSDT and config.plist and the Kext's from Post#1 !!!

    @kilo23
You can also update from the Capitan. (only SMBIOS iMac10,1, SMBIOS MacPro3,1 not works)
    1. Backup from Capitan!!!
    2. Before, install new Clover in Capitan, sample version 3773.
    3. All Kext's to EFI/Clover/kexts/10.11/ and to EFI/Clover/kexts/10.12/   !!!
    4. SIP 0x67
    5. Download macOS Sierra from appstore and run
    6. After restarting, switch to the installer in the CloverBootloader
    7. The rest as always.

After the installation, audio no longer works. See Post#1 for more info.

Hi MacPeet! I am going to try to update to Sierra from El Capitan on my Dell 780, SMBIOS 10,1, HD5450

Question: On Step 2, What settings do you use to install Clover on the El Capitan before installing Sierra?

These were the options I used when installing El Capitan:

    • Install Clover in ESP
    • Install boot0af in MBR
    • CloverEFI 64-Bits SATA
    • Themes, Select BootCamp
    • Install RC Scripts In Target Volume
    • Install Clover Preference Pane

or do I use these options for Step 2 onto my El Capitan Hard Drive before Sierra install

    • Bootloader / Install boot0af in the MBR
    • CloverEFI / Clover-EFI 64Bit SATA
    • Drivers64UEFI / EmuVariableUefi-64
    • Drivers64UEFI / OsxAptioFixDrv-64
    • Drivers64UEFI / PartitionDxe-64

Do I use the same Clover options for Step 2?

  6. EDIT: Cancel below I used the link from post #2 and it unzipped just fine

    Thanks for the lovely guide!

I downloaded the Clover_780.zip file and tried to unzip it using Apple Unarchive Utility on an actual Mac but It gives me this error:

    Unable to expand

Error 2 - No such file or directory

Any ideas? Or does anybody have the files they can post? I'd sure appreciate it.  :)

  7. Back at it again. I have a 2nd hard drive with Mountain Lion installed that I was able to do somewhere along this process.

Not sure if I did this right, but I installed Clover on the ML 2nd drive with these options

    • Install Clover in ESP
    • Boot loader: Install boot0af in MBR
    • CloverEFI: 64-Bits SATA
    • Themes: BootCamp
    • Install RC Scripts on Target Volume
    • Install Clover Preference Pane

then I copied my working El Cap EFI/Clover folder which has kext for 10.11 and 10.8 onto the ML EFI. It does have the working DSDT

When I boot the machine Clover shows the ML drive and allows me to try to boot from it. When I boot ML in verbose mode it displays all the text after a minute or two it boots back into BIOS. But when I boot in SAFE mode it boots ML just fine. Looks like I'm getting closer  :)

Any ideas why it only boots in safe mode?????

  8. Not sure what you meant by :

    es/"Mac OS X Install ESD"/BaseSystem.dmg /Volumes/ML-USB

What's "es/"Mac OS X Install ESD" ? es is not a valid terminal command

Anyway, if you restored the InstallESD/BaseSystem.dmg to your USB pen then ran the "cp /Volumes/"Mac OS X Install ESD"/BaseSystem.dmg /Volumes/ML-USB" command in terminal, you made the same thing twice !

Basically, the cp command will copy the content of BaseSystem.dmg in the root of ML-USB which is exactly what the Restore function does.

You're aware that you need to replace (not merge) the whole CLOVER folder in the EFI folder of your USB pen by the one in your current working El Cap and not just add the kexts from 10.11 to the 10.8 folder aren't you ?

That means you must have the correct DSDT.aml file in the EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched for both CLOVER folders (USB pen & HDD) and also the same config.plist.

In other words, the CLOVER folder must be strictly the same for both USB pen & HDD (assuming you filled both 10.11 & 10.8 folders with same kexts).

    [EDIT]

    OK, got it !

It was a typo wasn't it ? I mean, the strange command you mentioned :

    es/"Mac OS X Install ESD"/BaseSystem.dmg /Volumes/ML-USB

    Was actually :

    cp /Volumes/"Mac OS X Install ESD"/BaseSystem.dmg /Volumes/ML-USB

sorry, yes the 1st was a typo. It was supposed to read:

    cp /Volumes/"Mac OS X Install ESD"/BaseSystem.dmg /Volumes/ML-USB

    cp -a /Volumes/"Mac OS X Install ESD"/BaseSystem.chunklist /Volumes/ML-USB

    rm /Volumes/ML-USB/System/Installation/Packages

    cp -a /Volumes/"Mac OS X Install ESD"/Packages /Volumes/ML-USB/System/Installation/Packages

I didn't realize I did the same thing twice with the ESD and the CP, but thank you.

I'm going to go back and make sure I "replace" the entire Clover folder from my working El Capitan to the USB so they both match. I think I'm getting closer here, I feel it!

  9. This is what I've done so far (with LOTS of excellent help from polyzargone)...

I made the Mountain Lion USB by restoring Mountain Lion (Mac OS X Install ESD) in Disk Utility and named the USB "ML-USB"

    then from Terminal:

    es/"Mac OS X Install ESD"/BaseSystem.dmg /Volumes/ML-USB

    cp -/Volumes/"Mac OS X Install ESD"/BaseSystem.chunklist /Volumes/ML-USB

    rm /Volumes/ML-USB/System/Installation/Packages

    cp -/Volumes/"Mac OS X Install ESD"/Packages /Volumes/ML-USB/System/Installation/Packages

Then used Clover Installer with these settings

    • Install Clover in ESP
    • Boot loader: Install boot0af in MBR
    • CloverEFI: 64-Bits SATA
    • Themes: BootCamp
    • Install RC Scripts on Target Volume
    • Install Clover Preference Pane

Then copied my EFI 10.11 kexts from my working Dual Boot El Capitan/10 to the Mountain Lion USB pen 10.8 kexts folder and also added the 10.11 kexts to my working El Capitan 10.8 kexts folder. I also add the working DSDT to the Mountain Lion USB pen.

When I boot from the Mountain Lion USB from Clover in verbose it shows all the verbose text then the Apple grey screen appears and the cursor is just a spinning beachball even after 20 minutes.

Any ideas? My brain is hurting... this is the end of night 3 "TRYING" to get this working  :(  But I'm not giving up!

  10. What about the kexts that you must have in 10.8 folder ? Make sure you have FakeSMC.kext at least.

Also, boot in verbose mode please…

I copied the 10.11 kexts (fakeSMC, USB_Injector & Intel82566m) from my working El Capitan into my Mountain Lion USB 10.8 kexts folder AND ALSO put the same 10.11 kexts into my 10.8 folder on my El Capitan EFI HDD.

Also, I just tried booting in verbose mode but still seem to be getting the spinning beachball cursor once verbose is done and the grey screen pops up.

  11. OK. Trying to boot from the Mountain Lion USB with no luck yet. It goes from the Apple logo screen for about a minute then switches to a different gray screen but has a spinning beachball, but it never boots even after 10 minutes... it stays spinning. Any ideas?

I used the EFI/Clover folder from my working Dual Boot El Capitan/10

  12. Simple? We'll I'm starting to understand it a LITTLE better :) LOL

OK, so I am going to copy the Clover folder from the EFI of my working El Capitan and put it in my USB pen drive... right?

Do I still need to do these next steps after replacing the clover folder for the USB pen drive?

    1. Open Clover Configurator.
    2. Click FileOpen File, and Select config.plist in EFI/EFI/Clover
    3. Click on SMBIOS in right-side pane, and create your new SMBIOS, (iMac 10,1) with Random Serial Number.
    4. Copy paste this SN into Board Serial Number and add enough Letters/digits to make it a 17 character number.
    5. Open a command terminal, run the following command: "uuidgen", paste the result in SMUUID box in Clover.
    6. Close Clover Configurator, Save changes.
    7. There are 2 different DSDT's in the Optiplex 780 (760) folder. Copy the appropriate DSDT for your installation to: EFI/EFI/Clover/ACPI/Patched.
    8. Finished! Now, Remove the USB Installer and Reboot into OS X El Capitan

  13. Yes. Again, replace CLOVER folder with the one in Optiplex 780 (760) El Capitan Clover-v3.zip and don't forget to move kexts from 10.11 to 10.8 otherwise it will not work.

OK, and thanks for the reminder about replacing the folder... I would have DEFINITELY forgotten LOL!!!!!!

OK. I copied and replaced the Clover folder from the Optiplex 780 (760) El Capitan Clover-v3.zip to the EFI for Mountain Lion (same as El Capitan install).

Are these my next steps like in the El Capitan Install?
