App Store Error: No GUID is available

[scene & cue the background music from the B&W "The Lone Ranger" or the music from the original B&W "Flash Gordon"...] "And as our trusty friends ride off into the distance having temporarily crushed the Forces of Darkness, the Emperor Jobs is cunningly working on his next dastardly plan of global domination... what will it be ? Who knows... but remember Kids... same time, same channel next week on "Butch Casserole & The Flim-Flam Kid""

App Store Error: No GUID is available

Sorry Grand Moff Zurie... you & Paulo restored the AppStore for those who needed it. May word of your work & your legends flow through time... or until the next update Remember... there's no "I" in "TEAM" !! And yes, I'm a cheeky ****er !! Cheers

Appstore not work in Lion 10.7 DP4

I found a fix elsewhere that worked for me !! Click HERE Forget having to delete your Network Interfaces/NetworkPreferences.plist, all I had to do was find my com.apple.Boot.plist (mine was in /Extra/) and then add to it... <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> and then save the file & reboot. Once I'd rebooted, I tried AppStore & it all worked !! Click HERE to read what I went through to find out this worked !! Hope this works for all of you

App Store Error: No GUID is available

Thanks Paulo & ZURIE... your fixed work for me too And just a quick note for all of you who are struggling too, I initially after the update did all that deleting the Network Interfaces in Network Prefs/deleted the NetworkPreferences.plist stuff & rebooting & then re-added the Network Interfaces stuff but none of it worked ! So then I tried what Paulo said of just adding EthernetBuiltIn to my com.apple.Boot.plist in /Extra/ & it worked straightaway !! BUT as an afterthought, I then decided to restore a backup that I had made just BEFORE updating to 10.6.8, and again ran the update & when that was all finished I just made the changes to com.apple.Boot.plist WITHOUT having to do ANY of that deleting Network Interfaces/NetworkPreferences.plist stuff, and it worked straightaway !! So for me & hopefully others, I proved that you just have to make the changes to the Boot.plist and the AppStore should work again !!

    USB3 on Mac?

Just wanted to know if anyone has success with this Lacie card & it's driver working with a USB3 hard drive, as I've just bought a USB3 HD and want to know which card I should get for my MoBo so that it can support the new HD ? Thanks :-)
  7. Hi all, I wonder if someone can help me with my complicated dilemma... I've an old Sony Vaio laptop (VGN-FS115S - Intel Pentium M740 1.73ghz processor/1GB Memory/ICH6/SSE2) which has NO AHCI/Extended IDE options in the Bios (therefore PATA HD & DVD drive) & obviously, no SATA drives. It doesn't support booting off USB sticks/external HD's, but I found a way around this using a bootcd called "PlopManager". This laptop has been happily running iDeneb 10.5.8 for the last 2 years with no problem, but now I've decided to try & upgrade to SL 10.6.x due to the fact that everything that's being released is now based for SL than good old Leopard, and because I've seen & read posts from others with equally old machines, having had some success. I have tried various installs but all seem to fail. Here's what I've tried so far: 1) iPortable Snow 10.6.2 - When I installed this to a USB stick & booted from the "PlopManager" bootcd, it actually worked using either the default chocolate_kernel or the anv/legacy/blackknight kernel's. I've even found the kexts that support my Audio/Video & Network cards & they all work !! I can even clone this install over my 10.5.8 HD & it continues to work, but with 1 major problem on both the USB stick & the 10.5.8 HD... everytime I open System Preferences I get a double kernel panic !! Now I read on the forums here that if I delete the "com.apple.systempreferences.plist" this would fix the problem... I tried that & it does work & I can quite happily open/close System Preferences with no problem BUT for only that session ! When I reboot & try to open System Preferences again, the double kernel panic returns (regardless of which kernel I'm using BTW). Now having to delete the prefs file everytime is not practical, so if anyone has any ideas how to finally fix this that would be great, as this would be the quickest fix. 2) I've tried Hazard's 10.6.1/10.6.2 SSE2 SSE3 & iAtkos S3 v2 installs, but when I come to run the installers, both come up with the dreaded "Still waiting for the root device" error message & that's where it stops. 3) I've tried using the Retail 10.6.3 disc with Empire EFI bootcd's & MyHack bootloaders, but unfortunately I either get the "Still waiting for the root device" or they freeze when the "Error: Firewire unable to determine security-mode" message appears. For the last 2 options I've tried adding various kexts to get them working (thanks to various posts here suggesting advice to others...) like AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext, IOATAFamily.kext & JMicron36xATA.kext, but with no luck. So there you have it. If anyone can help me in getting one of these working, I'd really appreciate it ! Thanks :-) P.S.: I've included a screen capture of Hardware Info, so you can see my laptops specs...

    Airport-like app for Ralink 2870

First thing I want to say is THANK YOU to Aqua-Mac for making this package, as I too am sick of seeing the default Ralink app in the dock. I have been for a long time now been using the default Ralink app in conjunction with another app, which displays a fully working Airport icon in the menubar (http://www.brandon-holland.com/software.html) (scroll down this webpage to the 3rd item & it's there.), and that's the closest I've got to getting a "Stock" Wifi setup. I uninstalled the original Ralink installation & the Ralink Airport icon I had installed before I installed your package. The problem I have with this new solution (like some others) is that I can only get a wifi connection if i open the RalinkWireless PrefPane. Using the RalinkAirport does nothing for me (again, like some others) except flash "[Connecting]" for maybe a second & then it disappears. I don't ever see the Airport icon... ever ! I've tried the various workaround's that Aqua-Mac/Onelove/Pharillion have suggested, but with no luck. The only way around this problem I've found, is to add to my login items the RalinkWireless PrefPane & the Ralink Airport icon. It just means closing the PrefPane down once the connection is made, and then it carries on working with no problems. Any ideas anyone on how to fix this, or has there been anymore work done on this ? Thanks

Hi Kizwan, Apologies for not replying sooner but I've been on holiday for a month in New Zealand, and forgot all about replying to this I've tried it again since coming back and found that your Alpha4 & Alpha5 drivers both worked successfully on a fresh build, so a big THANK YOU for all your help in solving my problem

@kizwan - Of course I'm not offended by you asking anything Ask as much as you like because if it helps resolve the problem & we've both learn't something from this "experience", then I've got no problem installing OSX loads of times & trying various combinations of the setup to see which works Hell, at the end of all this I'll have hopefully learn't something more about OSX, and I'm happy with that I've attached a PDF which shows the specs of my laptop, should you want to see what you are dealing with... although on my laptop I've upgraded the memory to 1GB & the HD to a 160GB HD. You also wanted to know which OSX package I'm using to install... it's the iPC OSx86 Universal 10.5.6 PPF5 Final Release (http://######.com/ipcosx86/?page_id=96). You can see all the installation options on the website I've quoted here...Is there anything else you want me to try as well as the Vanilla Kernal & SMBios Resolver installation before I disappear for a while installing this ? Thanks P.S.: By the way I forgot to say this a long time ago, call me Ed... it's a lot easier than typing egnm1969 all the time Sony_VGN_FS115S.pdf

@kizwan - Good idea about the lack of diskspace Kizwan, but all the testing I have done has been on a 160GB "clean/virgin system" with nothing else loaded I have a clean "image" (I use Paragon Disk Backup to take images for testing...) of 10.5.6 with nothing else loaded (no additional drivers/apps are added). The files installed on that clean 10.5.6 image are: 9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel Intel ICHx Driver Intel Pro 100 VE Network Driver Power Management Drivers MacBook Pro SMBIOS PS/2 Keyboard Fix (enables the laptop keyboard & touchpad) Shutdown Fix Now I tried your latest driver on this image and unfortunately the same thing happened again... when trying to alter the volume level either from either the menubar or from within the Sound Preferences section, the machine froze (see pic 1). It did show this time in the Sound Output section that Headphones was an option... so that's helpful ! (see pic 2) I then decided to try a virgin build straight from the installation discs without the Power Management Drivers, SMBIOS & Shutdown Fix just in case they were causing the problems, but again it crashed in the same places as before... DOH !! (see pic 3) As per normal I've added the System.log & pics to a ZIP file & attached it to this message to show you what happened. Other than that, I'm afraid there's nothing else I can see that I'm doing any differently... If you have any further ideas then let me know, as I'm more than willing to try Thanks Latest_Files_12_04_08.zip

    calling all ALC260 users

@kizwan - Hi again. Well some good news... After installing your latest driver & rebooting, the speaker icon appeared on the menu bar ... but when I tried to adjust the volume level using the slider the system crashed (see pic1 in the zip file). I rebooted and then tried to adjust the volume level from the Sound Preference in System Preferences, but again it crashed (see pic2). I also checked to see what was showing in the Output sections of the the Sound Preference, and it's showing "Line Out" just like the working 10.5.2 driver does ! It seems it just crashes everytime it has to play a sound. I've included the System.log for this driver in the zip file in case this helps... You're almost there... Thanks a lot Latest_Driver_11_04_08.zip

@kizwan - Hi again. OK I've tried the 2 new drivers, but again... no luck. Nothing appears either in the Sound Preference in System Preferences either. Just in case you wanted to see them, I've taken copies of the System.log's and I've added them to this post, so hopefully it can shed some more light on this dilemma... Good luck Latest_Log_Files.zip
