  1. So I can see Yosemite Beta 2 is now available on the App Store. Is it safe to upgrade this way on a Hackintosh? I'm pretty sure I kept my Mavericks install always up to date this way, but wanted to check out the correct method as Yosemite was harder to get working in the first place?...

    4k / UHD with Yosemite

Ah ok, that kind of makes sense, I think... I was hoping / expecting to have the resolution set to 3840x2160 and some kind of 'make things bigger' option - I feel like I haven't got the resolution set to the correct native so there will be an element of pixilation, am I wrong though?

    Anyone got any thoughts?

    4k / UHD with Yosemite

I have a Samsung 4k monitor hooked up to an Nvidia Geforce 760 in my Hackintosh via DisplayPort. If I leave the settings on 'Best for display', for some reason it goes into 1080p mode. If I put it in 3840x2160 resolution manually (which, for some reason I can only do using the screenresx third party app, the resolution isn't listed in the normal display settings), everything is absolutely tiny (buttons, menus etc). I had thought (and have seen screenshots) that there would be the ability to change the scaling of all the items within Yosemite, but the only way I can make everything readable (and even clickable without pico-adjustments of the mouse!) is by downgrading the resolution, which seems a bit pointless. Has anyone got 4k working as I was expecting, or have any suggestions that I could try to get this functionality somehow?
  5. Ripping my hair out (not a good thing, I have little)... I've installed Yosemite successfully about 12 times now, on an SSD on my Gigabyte Z77X-D3H. Looks great, but as soon as I try and install a boot loader it breaks it. Clover works fine to boot off the USB and install it (again), but refuses to successfully install to the SSD. Without the USB in, it just says 'Boot error'. Chameleon installs ok, but after boot it just shuts itself down again (don't even get into Yosemite). I didn't create the USB with Chameleon - does this make a difference? Won't let me as it doesn't run on my Macbook air (maybe cos it's Yosemite already or because I'm selecting desktop? Not sure how much scrutiny the USB creator does, or whether it should only be run on the destination system? I've screwed my Mackintosh Mavericks installation now, so can't find out).... I've still got Clover EFI options in my EFI bios menu, despite having removed them several times. Apologies if this sounds like a generic 'Doesn't work', but I just seem to be hitting a dead end at every turn and I'm struggling to find anything that I haven't tried already at least 2 or three times?! Would love to hear what any of you would try next? EDIT: I've reformatted and repartitioned the SSD every time

    Kexts etc

Thanks for the link... I'm guessing I need some drivers or something - I currently have no network devices or sound, despite both being on the motherboard and working with mavericks. I remember having to do something with voodoo audio on mavericks but never had any issues with network. I think there was a tool one could download to find out what specific devices there were, and what files were needed. Does anyone know of such a tool?

    Kexts etc

Where is the best place to get kexts from? I'm guessing that's what i need to start doing as I don't have network interfaces etc. My build: Gigabyte Z77X-D3H mobo / NVidia GTX 760 Also, no matter what I try I cannot get it to boot without the installer USB in. I'm using Clover and EFI, and have even tried installing to the ESP after running the newfs_msdos command but I just get boot errors. Also tried chameleon but that wouldn't boot either.
  8. Any idea why my install is failing? It's complaining about the disk verify process. Log here: http://pastebin.com/7qsTG0Vj Trying to repair the disk in disk utility fails, File system check exit code 8...

    Trouble with clover

Plugged a USB mouse in. The install bombs though, saying the disk verify failed?! Any ideas - full log here: http://pastebin.com/7qsTG0Vj

    Boot Guide

I'm getting to the install and it's just prompting me to switch my mouse on - do I need to load a bluetooth kext or something? It's a USB bluetooth dongle (on the compatibility list, but I can't remember what it is!)

    Trouble with clover

Ok, I've somehow managed to get it through to the install! I think I was missing the kextload part Only problem now is that it hasn't loaded the USB bluetooth driver, so it's prompting me to turn on my mouse or trackpad... any idea how I could get that working - do I need to do another kextload or something?

    Trouble with clover

I guess my main problem is that I can't boot at all now. I've tried running the chameleon wizard on my macbook, but obviously it wants to install the boot loader on that, which is no good (it's already running Yosemite anyway lol) Not quite sure where to go from here. I previously managed to get into Mavericks on the Hackintosh through Clover, but even that's not working now - I get the apple screen and then it just shuts itself down!

    Trouble with clover

Ok so that binaries download won't let me install it on my USB 'Yosemite installer' - ummm, am I missing the point here, or could that be what the problem is (it says it's not OS X on the USB, so can't install there)? Maybe I need to start from scratch again?

    Trouble with clover

Odd.. I don't have '*with* injected kexts on the spacebar menu. I have *without* injected kexts?! The other thing I don't understand is that if I boot from the USB key, there is no 'install yosemite' option - I only get that if I choose 'Clover OS X Boot' at the bios boot menu. I guess that doesn't matter too much... Can't find boot arguments in config.plist so am putting it in options each time. I'll see if I can attach some screen grabs 3 screenshots here: http://imgur.com/hCUGKmm,zsnHAe2,hm9caHD#0

    Trouble with clover

I'm following this guide: http://rochetechnology.com/os-x-10-10-yosemite-quick-hackintosh-tip/ Is the FakeSMC generic, or do I need a specific one for my motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H I created a 10.10 in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts and put the FakeSMC.kext I found online into it. But not sure if it's the right one, if it's in the right place etc.. Can't find a verbose mode, or anything about injecting kexts.... as per the guide I linked to I've been trying with the following in boot args: -s kext-dev-mode=1
