  1. HP Compaq nw8440 Notebook

Hello! I am looking to run OSX86 on an old laptop I used during school, which barely gets any use from me anymore. I am looking to mainly run XCode on it for iOS development and that would be the most resource depending thing I plan on. Its been a while since I have done this so any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. The laptop is an HP Compaq NW8440 with the following specs: Intel Core Duo T2600 2.16 GHz processor 1024 MB 667 MHz DDRII SDRAM -- WILLING TO UGPRADE 15.4-inch wide WUXGA display ATI Mobility Fire GL VL 5200 I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of the latest version of OSX that I could run on this system? Also is there any preferred method of install these days? I have no problem plugging a keyboard/mouse into the laptop if the trackpad drivers don't work correctly, but was wondering if anyone could provide some insight. As always your help is greatly appreciated - thank you in advance!
  2. Thanks for the quick reply. So buying RAM and a video card might be the best way for me to go. Let's say I pick up 2GB of RAM from Newegg for this thing then a compatible video card I might be in better shape? My pain purpose for doing this is developing iOS applications in XCode so I guess I would prefereably like to get up to running 10.6.x but not sure if thats possible with my current processor. I currently have OSX running in a VM on my Windows machine, but its quite slow, and I don't want to go through the hassle of dual booting, so this is where I ended up. Any inexpensive video cards that work right out of the box that you know off the top of your head?
  3. My grandpa was throwing out his old computer in place of a laptop, and I figured I would ask if its possibly to Hackintosh it before I get rid of it. I searched the forums for the motherboard, but found posts from about two years ago and haven't played around with this stuff for a while so I am a bit out of the loop. Please excuse my noob-ness and as always, your help is greatly appreciated. So as far as I can tell, my dad built this PC for my grandpa a few years back and these are the specs I was able to find: Mobo: Intel D915GEV Memory: 512MB RAM Processor: Intel Celeron D326 (2.53GHz w/ EM64T) Graphics: Onboard ( Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900) Is there a way to tell what the max version of OSX this can run is? Also which one would I be best running? Thanks in advance for all your help!
  4. Broadcom bcm43xx wireless driver [beta]

Will this card work if I put it in my eeePC and loaded the kext for it? http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-PCI-E-Broadcom-4311...018104001r30003
  5. Atheros AR5007EG, Who can help me?

Argh, I wish someone would come up with something for this. My Asus EEEpc 1000HA has this wireless adapater and I was REALLY looking forward to running OSx on it.
  6. Is installing the video kexts from the CD recommended or do you do so after the install of OSx86? I had a version of Kalaway installed and ran some Terminal commands after the install to get my video card to work and now I get a kernal panic and cannot boot into the OS, so I don't want this to happen again.
  7. Anyone have any ideas on skipping the hardware check? I think thats the only way around it, but can't find a string in 0xed.
  8. Network Solution for Leopard

Spent a bit of extra money, but bought the Macbook Air usb > ethernet adapter. Guy in Apple Store SWORE it would not work, man was he wrong. I plugged it in and it recognized it instantly.
  9. Is there a way to skip the hardware check like I do in Aperture to get it to run with my x1950 -- I used a hex editor to change out the performRequirementsCheck. Anyone?
  10. So I finally got my hackintosh up and running last night with all my drivers and everything, its so cool. I went to launch Photo Booth and got this error: "The graphics card installed in this computer does not support Photo Booth." My video card is an ATI Radeon X1950 Pro -- Not sure what other information is needed, but please let me know so maybe we can figure this out! Thanks!
  11. Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3

What if I have a RAID array for my Windows Disks and then I want to install OSX? My BIOS setting is set to RAID and not AHCI. Is this impossible?
