Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

@ Manwe150 Would it be possible to give me some insight how did you make that excellent modification for T420's dock ? The reason I ask is I'd love to make similar modification for my ThinkPad X Series Docking too. Note that I did try your mod (replace your 2 files, "Info.plist" & "Platform.xml.zlib", into my 'working' AppleHDA) It add another "output" under "System Perference/Audio/Output" ... the original output work as normal. But the additional output has no sound. Many thanks.

TLUCK First of all Thank you so much for your excellent work on this .. your "Guide" and "zip super package" make installing OSX easy like never been before. I had successfully clean install 10.9.2 on my T420 (4180AJ5). Everything work including sleep/wake audio. One thing on the external monitor. Seem I have a non-sync monitor/shake picture when I plug my monitor via VGA port. Here my steps:- plug the monitor via VGA port (I had ordered DP/HDMI Adapter, will give it a try once I got it too) turn on the T420 Clover Menu show up fine (I even set the Clover Menu to display at 1600x900 to check/confirm if my monitor support 1600x900 resolution) I got a clear/nice picture. I can use FunctionKey-F7 to switch between TP LCD and monitor too (but not the "both"/"clone" ??) So I chose to boot from monitor Select to boot OSX; screen change to apple logo on a white background for a little while till 10.9.2 start to show up on 1600x900 .. the display mode jump to "both"/"clone" mode automatically. Well, I do prefer it to display on monitor only but that not the key issue right now but the display's quality. Once it become "both"/"clone" mode, a nice picture on TP LCD but poor quality on the monitor. It look sparking, little shake all the time with ugly color. At first, I'm so confident on your package and blame to my monitor. It is a Toshiba LED TV (23PU200T). So I start to test it on Windows 7 (on the same T420 machine) - - found out that it show up a nice picture. Would it be possible that there is a problem specifically on OSX only ? Any expert opinion, please. PS. some picture for more info. I took picture on Clover menu and the booting screen (which seem to display well) and the OSX screen on Monitor (bad quality) & on T420 LCD (nice) for comparison.

TLUCK, I'm interested in your new approach (#3, remove DSDT.aml and use built-in DSDT with Clover patching) However, I found out that your "config.nodsdt.plist" still quoted to "dsdt.aml" which I believe that it will took the custom dsdt.aml under "ACPI/patched" (rather than using the built-in DSDT) Pls kindly explain more about this new approach. Many tks.

Intel HD Graphics (0x00468086) QE/CI on Lenovo X201

Experts, After browsing this forum, especially, this topic - - I wonder why I had unsuccessfully install OSX on my X01. Could you please advise how to install the OSX on it ? My machine is 3680P3T, Core i5 M540. I had been tring iATKOS L2; official 10.8; official 10.9 .... the installers fail to boot up. Note:- here the screen from 10.9 installer boot up panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff7f81de29d9): No HPETs available...CPU(s) configured incorrectly Debugger called: <panic> Backtrace (CPU 0), Frame : Return Address 0xffffff80e46c3ef0 : 0xffffff8000222fa9 0xffffff80e46c3e70 : 0xffffff7f81de29d9 0xffffff80e46c3eb0 : 0xffffff80002d6ff7 Kernel Extension in backtrace: com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement(216.0)

10.9.2 on Lenovo X201 installer problem

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone who try installing Mavericks on Lenovo X201. Hope we got attention from a lot of experts in this community. What I got was "Panic" on CPU. panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff7f81de29d9): No HPETs available...CPU(s) configured incorrectly Debugger called: <panic> Backtrace (CPU 0), Frame : Return Address 0xffffff80e46c3ef0 : 0xffffff8000222fa9 0xffffff80e46c3e70 : 0xffffff7f81de29d9 0xffffff80e46c3eb0 : 0xffffff80002d6ff7 Kernel Extension in backtrace: com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement(216.0) PS. TLUCK Here the result from command you asked to run. Not sure if it tell you needed info. KhSurachais-MacBook-Pro:~ kh.surachai$ ioreg -l | grep -v IOKitD | grep AppleHDA | | | +-o AppleHDAController@1B <class AppleHDAController, id 0x100000282, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (3648 ms), retain 10> | | | | "IOClass" = "AppleHDAController" | | | | "CFBundleIdentifier" = "com.apple.driver.AppleHDAController" KhSurachais-MacBook-Pro:~ kh.surachai$ Software OS X 10.8 (12A128p My OS is 10.8 (12A128p); For what I had done - - basically, follow your guide (follow the "Clover UEFI on T420 Guide" link in your signature). After I finish the install, I follow your Post OS Install on HD instructions; in brief 1) Boot from USB; install Clover (r2636) on HD 2) copy "EFI" folder from your zip (Feb 27, 2014) to the EFI volume on HD 3) rename config.1600x900.plist to config.plist 4) copy "DisplayVendorID-*" folder from your zip to /System/Library/Display/Overrides on HD 5) change OEM/productID.1600x900 folder name to OEM/4180AJ5 6) install 7 kexts under Clover/kexts/10.8 using the Kext Utility 7) finally, reboot the system and "boot without cache" At this point, Sound seem doesn't work (Under "System Preference", no input device found and only "Air Play" output device found) And every time I boot it normally, it freeze after a while. I must "boot without cache" every time to make it boot. Also I try the Mavericks (downloaded via AppStore) fresh install with your guid. But I can't boot the Mavericks USB Installer ... it freeze after a big while.

Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

TLUCK (1) & (2) .. I'm using the Kext Utility.app (drag & drop each kext under 10.8 to the Kext Utility.app window) Should I use script instead ?? And of course, I copy all the whole CLOVER folder from your zip to the "EFI". (3) I'm using USB installer .. did not rename the OEM folder as you suggested before. Howerver, after rename & try boot the Mavericks Installer USB.. still fail to boot. Note that I had update BIOS to the latest version.

TLUCK With your advise and superb zip.package, I know can install the 10.8 on my T420 (4180AJ5). Just final fine tune. 3 points bother me right now. (1) is that every time I reboot/restart, I need to boot it "without cache" option. If I let it boot normally, the boot fail. (2) not sure if the audio work fine with your latest (Feb 27) package ? Not work for me. Under "System Perference/Sound", there is no input and output device to be selected. (3) 10.8 worked well but not the 10.9. I did follow your instruction from download the Mavericks from AppStore ... till rename the config1600.plist to config.plist .. stemp by step. Unfortunately, the Mavericks Installer fail to boot. This make me feel that my machine is not supported for Mavericks - - but you guys on this forum is talking about this like 10.9 is well/widely supported for T420. Make me confuse, any idea sir ?? Thank you very much for your kind support.

Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

TLUCK Confirm that X201 is UEFI capable. I can use Clover bootable USB created by cvad's tool to boot. But it can boot but not completely work. I wish I could use your package to modify it and make it work (just like your package work well on T420) As mentioned, after I modify the Clover bootable USB created by cvad's tool ... the USB boot but just like normal (and installation fail) Unlike when I use the same USB on T420, It boot with your modified menu/background screen/etc .. and most importantly, the installation success. Hope you can help guide how to modify your package a bit make it boot on X201. Many Tks.

Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

@TLUCK Thanks for the advise, I can install 10.8 on internal HDD now. Sir, your package work so well. I'm thinking of using it for another ThinkPad (X201) But seem your package had been configured specifically for T420. The Installer USB (which work well on ThinkPad T420) behave like a unmodified cvad's Clover (I can tell from the menu/background image/etc when boot with it. Same Installation USB boot & look differently on T420 & X201). And that unmodified installer doesn't work. Any advise how can I modify to make your package work on X201 as well ? Many thanks.

Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

TLUCK Thank you so much. Seem I had successfully modified my Clover USB Drive (created by cvad's tool) with your package as you suggested. It boot and work well. I follow your instruction till end. Only some device still not working and may need to work around. Just one point .. I did success installation on a 16GB USB Drive (for testing purpose) Everything looked good. So, I redo .. now on my internal HDD. The installation went well. But after first reboot .. the seem not able to boot from the HDD. I got an error "Still waiting for root device" I left the machine for long time .. and found multiple lines of the same "Still waiting for root device" Not sure what went wrong ? Any advise please...... ****** One more thing .. your package work so well. I'm thinking of using it for another ThinkPad (X201) But seem your package had been configured specifically for T420. The Installer USB (which work well on ThinkPad T420) behave like a unmodified cvad's Clover (the menu/background image/etc). And that unmodified installer doesn't work. Any advise how can I modify to make your package work on X201 as well ? Many thanks.

@tluck - - Not sure I understand your suggestion to set your package on windows. I did download your zip. (it contain "_MACOSX" folder and a file called "Clover_v2_r1625.pkg". The "_MACOSX" folder also contain just one file, "Clover_v2_r1625.pkg".) But I not sure where to copy them to. I don't seem to find "CLOVER" folder in the USB drive created by cvad's tool.

Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

@TLUCK Thanks for your kind response. Here more info from my point. (1) - both, my boot order is (USB CD/USB HDD/HDD0/...) also once the machine fail for find bootable media, it jump to Boot Device list. I try the USB again from the F12 menu list ... also, nothing happen (2) - I think it's MBR (3) - Neither. I don't have Macintosh or Hackintosh machine yet. So, I can't create USB from your pack. My plan is to install iAtkos L2 first, then use it to run your pack. I use "Bootdisk Utility v2.0.2013.159" to create the Clover boot USB.
