  1. I'm interested in the idea of installing OS X on the Asus VivoTab as well --- 10.6 would work fine for my purposes --- tired of the upgrade treadmill and I want a machine which is nicer to run Freehand on than my ThinkPad X61 w/ 1024x768 display.
  2. TabletMagic for TabletPCs

Well, I'm back to where I was.Tablet boots, sleeps, trackpoint and keyboard work. I can see the serial port, and tablet and query it successfully for info in Tablet magic after loading the daemon --- it's just that the stylus doesn't work. What else can I try? Is it possible that the dsdt mis-identifies the serial port?
  3. fight the backlight brightness control feature

I'm trying to get my ThinkPad x61 tablet running 10.6.8 --- I managed to get it installed once, but couldn't get the tablet/stylus working. After applying the combo updater my screen goes dark, I hope because of some simple problem --- usually I can hear that the system is running by adjusting the volume. The clue would seem to be the message amount invalid max firmware screen brightness --- interestingly, if I turn down the screen brightness then it gets turned back up to maximum just before the grey loading screen is dismissed. I really need to figure out how to get the screen flashing blue again and then loading the system again....

And now I get a black screen after the initial install when just rebooting. A suggestion which I haven't seen and which I wish I'd tried is to have two hard drives --- clone the install to a second drive and restore from it every time one gets set back by something like this.

Maybe the fault isn't in TabletEnabler/Magic --- managed to get a black screen after installing Xcode and updating to 10.6.8. Is anyone else interested in this? I was hopeful when I found another forum which indicated tabletMagic 2.0b18 was working (and later updates were problematic), but a bit put off with this current difficulty. Reinstalling again.

Then I had the ``brilliant'' idea of setting a .plist file to load it early instead of late --- system locked up on start. Rebooting in safe mode let me change it back, but it still locks up. Tried re-loading the pref pane, but it still locks up. Time for another re-install I guess.

So close. Updated to 10.6.8 Tablet is enabled as serial0 TabletMagiceDaemon 2.0b20 launches, runs and tablet is initialized sucessfully In the Testing tab I can select ``Get Tablet Info'' click Send and get A0 1D 43 0F 7D 00 58 00 00 in the Datastream (ISDV4 Binary) pane The only thing which seems wrong is the LaunchHelper must be run as root message --- how do I address that?

The only odd thing is com.apple.systempreferences LaunchHelper must be run as root!

Trying WACF008 seems to have worked to get a bit farther. I now see the tablet serial port (it shows up in Network as unconfigured --- okay?). I've tried pretty much every version of Tablet Magic I could find, but while the tablet is found and the daemon runs, the system never responds to the stylus --- a standard tablet PC penabled stylus or one from a Wacom Artz or artPad will work, right? I've been trying with the one from my Fujitsu stylistic but no joy.

Trying to install to a ThinkPad X61 Tablet. Posted to this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87574-lenovo-thinkpad-x61-tablet/page-29?do=findComment&comment=1984221 but no response. Managed to get Mac OS X 10.6 installed on my ThinkPad X61 Tablet using the instructions and files here: http://osxonthinkpads.wikidot.com/10-6-x-on-x60-t60-x61-coreduo-core2duo-gma950-gma3100 --- updated to10.6.7 I'm now trying to get Tablet Magic installed on it --- I edited the serial .kext, but got no port after rebooting (used WACF004 --- should I try 8?). Installing the driver resulted in the screen going dark after boot (twice now) --- system seems to be up, I can change the volume, just the screen is dark. Initially installed w/ only an extender battery in place --- kernel panics when I try to start up w/ the regular battery in place --- is this part of the problem?
  11. Snow Leopard 'cause it still has Rosetta and allows me to continue using Macromedia FreeHand/MX (I was a beta-tester, though they didn't listen to many of my suggestions).
  12. Lenovo ThinkPad X61 Tablet

Managed to get Mac OS X 10.6 installed on my ThinkPad X61 Tablet using the instructions and files here: http://osxonthinkpads.wikidot.com/10-6- ... 50-gma3100 I'm now trying to get Tablet Magic installed on it --- my initial attempt resulted in the screen going dark after boot (even re-installing didn't fix it --- had to wipe the hard drive and install for a 3rd time). Updated tp 10.6.8 and suddenly my serial port became active (during the update). I've tried both WACF004 and 8 w/o success or visible difference. Log file attached --- what else can I try? repairpermissionsrebootkillenable-log.txt
