  1. ALC269VC on Sony VAIO SVE1512

Hi, I'm on OSX since 10.5 and 4 laptops to date, but this one is a pain. I have a sloppy, but working Clover based 10.11.1 on HDD, but since I just bought a SSD drive, I decided to start from scratch, looking for latest solutions. I found an excellent guide for similar device, but audio does not work. I do have a semi working patched AppleHDA, v2.5.3 by Mirone (attached), found somewhere years ago, but in the past I had some issues after wake (seems ok now) and audio through HDMI does not work. Thing is that apparently my ALC269VC is somehow a very rare thing manufactured by Sony, I can't really find any proper solution. I thought that someone could help me doing this properly once for all, using DummyHDA to persist stuff between updates. Device info: CodecCommander: ....CodecVendor Id: 0x10ec0269CodecCommander: ....Codec Address: 0 CodecCommander: ....Subsystem Id: 0x104d6900 CodecCommander: ....PCI Sub Id: 0x104d90ab Vendor Id: 10ec:0269 Subsystem Id: 104d:6900 Revision Id: 100202 I do believe that this ALSA report here has the same HDA codec information as my device (ctrl+f Realtek ALC269VC). Any support would be greatly appreciated, with beer donations. Cheers! AppleHDA-ALC268VC-2.5.3-Mirone.kext.zip Sony VAIO SVE1512M1EW - Clover config, DSDT, codec dump and IOReg.zip
  2. Hey ~tivimac, could you please pack up all your stuff (Extra, SLE, DSDT, SMBios, org.chameleon, etc.) and attach here? I just installed Mavericks on mine and I am still struggling with best PS2 kexts, reboot issues, etc. That will be really helpful. Cheers!
  3. Chameleon 2171? Why not latest rev? (2246 now) http://forge.voodoop...e/changes/HEAD/ I have even created an alias in my dotfiles for pulling and compiling latest revision: alias chameleon="svn co -r HEAD http://forge.voodooprojects.org/svn/chameleon/trunk && cd trunk && make && cd .. && echo Done, launching Chameleon Wizard! && open /Applications/Utilities/Chameleon\ Wizard.app && exit" I'm now hunting for DP1 MBR patch. Besides that I've got everything prepared for my 1201N. Edit: Very imaginative, but I prefer to wait a while and install directly to my chosen partition, than struggle later with incorrect paths, "still waiting for root dev", etc. Anyway, thanks for a clever tip how to do it eventually in the future.
  4. Or he can edit USB/System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg/Distribution (open mpkg with Flat Package Editor) There is: Line #8 - min RAM required (2GB default) Line #35 - virtual machine installation support (change false to true) Line #60 - platform/system board checks (change false to true) Save & replace. Not tested yet. I'm still waiitng for MBR patch.
  5. Asus 1201N Installation and support

As this DSDT is from theconnactic, developed with/by Mirone & Toleda to support their AppleHDA, you could ask them for 4GB version. Also, you could try decompiling both 2GB and 4GB version from the first post, look at the differences and apply them to this new, but 2GB, DSDT. Maybe I will try to do this later/tommorow, as I don't have time at the moment. Cheers.

~trogscave: If it freezes at logo, please boot with -v (verbose mode) and write here a few last lines before freeze. Weekend update! mestiso-1201n-10.8.3.zip (2013-04-07 16:18)
  7. Asus 1201N Installation and support

AppleHDA-DSDT-10.8.3-first-post.zip - AppleHDA.kext (1st post) - IOAudioFamily.kext (1st post) - DSDT.aml (1st post, 2GB version) Works, but audio is stuttering, at least for me. Nobody else reported this, so it should be good. It's probably from the first post, but with all those different posts, versions and testing, I'm not sure anymore. AppleHDA-DSDT-10.8.3-MironeToleda.zip - AppleHDA.kext (by Mirone) - IOAudioFamily.kext (vanilla 10.8.3) - DSDT.aml (by Mirone/Toleda) Works even better for me, sometimes audio won't switch (speakers/headphones). Thanks to theconnactic for sharing, this is just a package with all you need, with credits and links inside. sudo mv /Extra/DSDT.aml /Extra/DSDT.aml.bak sudo cp ~/Downloads/AppleHDA-DSDT-10.8.3-MironeToleda/DSDT.aml /Extra/DSDT.aml Oh come on, just replace /Extra/DSDT.aml. Did you tried all known AppStore fix? Remove all network interfaces, remove /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist, restart, add ethernet first, apply, then add wi-fi. This should work because en0 always should be assiociated with ethernet card. Also, add: <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> in /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist if you are using Chameleon and update it. AsusHotkeys.kext.zip I have AsusHotkeys.kext and it just works. I have also KeyRemap4MacBook installed, for easier (than modding kext) function keys without Fn. Now I just have to press F11/F12 to control volume, not Fn+F11/Fn+F12. Edit: As I see now with Kext Wizard, the AsusHotkeys.kext isn't loaded, but F1/sleep, F5-F6-F7/brightness, F10-F11-F12/volume, arrows/music control and fn+digits on letters works for me and I don't need anything else. About the Atheros 9285 - no idea.

I've asked because they have different modification dates, that's all. I was thinking that you have some other mysterious IOAudioFamily, so I was waiting for your answer. So... I've downloaded 10.8.3 update, extracted /thank you, Pacifist!/ kexts, installed stock AppleHDA & IOAudioFamily, removed IOAudioFamily2 just in case (got this from some other random package). Vanilla. Then installed yours AppleHDA from Mirone & replaced (probably 1st page's) DSDT with yours. -v -f Yup, sounds great. Testing now.

Thanks for that! With Mirone's AppleHDA.kext my sound is not working at the moment (no device detected), probably because of IOAudioFamily.kext dependency ...and it's weird. As you can see on screenshot below, both (old/working and Mirone's one) AppleHDAs has almost the same dependencies, especially IOAudioFamily (1.7.2f1) which I got. Strange enough for me. Yes, I have working kexts combo so I can have audio working at any time, but since I'm on Mountain Lion, all possible kext/smbios/etc combinations give me some kind of audio stuttering. At any time (high usage & idle), especially when I launch some YT video (but also in iTunes/Spotify/QT/MPlayerX/etc) audio gets stuck after a few seconds. Then I have to pause it, wait for minute or a half, press play, and it works.. for a while again. I was so angry that I wrote a script (and an Alfred Workflow with hotkey now) to reset CoreAudio, which helps in a few seconds: do shell script "kill -9 `ps ax | grep 'coreaudio[a-d]' | awk '{print $1}'`" user name "USER" password "PASS" with administrator privileges That's why I am still searching for ideal audio solution for me. So, anyway.. Long story short: Can you please send your IOAudioFamily.kext? Edit: Also, which DSDT should I use? The one that you've provided or maybe that which is in archive with Mirone's AppleHDA?
  10. Asus 1201N Installation and support

@theconnactic, could you please attach all of your files that you used? S/L/E, /Extra, DSDT, any plugins, cham revision, kernel modules (really only these two?), etc.? What did you changed besides wireless card and little OC with modded BIOS? You know, every custom thing you need for your, AFAIK, nearly perfect, current 1201n installation. I now have a well functioning 10.8.3 system, but I see (also on other forums) that you probably did it much better. Just curious. How. Thanks a lot!
  11. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Yay. It works! Quick tips as of now: mtek kexts & 10.8.2 kernel page32, 2gb dsdt page1, my own SMBios/Chameleon.boot plists, 10.8.2 mbr patch used 10.8.2.app, UB tool, chameleon & kext wizard MB ps2 kexts instalator works for me only with -v -x npci=0x2000 rd=disk0s1 (i use 8gb pendrive, otherwise I've got PCI conf begin & still waiting messages) MBA2,1 SMBios (instead of MB5,1) solves sleep problems with USB and enables webcam sound work brilliant without IOAudio2 kext, but I still don't like those verbose mode messages Dell 1510 out of the box I will update this post with all necessary information (& mini guide maybe?) probably tomorrow. Thanks for the tips. Should I remove inline image form post and put this as attachment?
  12. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Okay, all these posts are very confusing and I don't know which I should take as my base. Can someone write a new, clear guide how to install Mountain Lion 10.8.2? I have a fresh and shiny package from the Mac App Store. - what kexts/kernel should I put on installation drive (and where: SLE, Extra)? - may I prepare it with U B, other tool or I have to do it manually? - do I need to do something during installation (like removing PS/2 Keyboard strings from .plists)? - do your method work with iCloud? (yes, I know exactly how to do it by removing & adding network interfaces in the right order) - should I use anything from M B or other tool after installation? - which Chameleon bootloader version, or Clover maybe? - how about DSDT files? - can you list and upload your kexts? - did I forgot something? I'm sick with my current 10.7.0 install, because few months ago I got some problems with upgrading (endless PCI conf begin/KPs, perhaps some weird 1201n model) and I want to upgrade finally, but without whole week of testing again. I have Dell 1510 Wi-Fi card inside, stock 2GB of RAM and modded BIOS with overclocked CPU (2.0 GHz @ 667MHz FSB). Thanks for any reply, seriously. Asus 1201N FTW.
  13. Asus 1201N Installation and support

It stops on [ PCI configuration begin ] which is popular hang issue, try those (in combinations): -v -f -x npci=0x2000 npci=0x3000 PCIRootUID=0 PCIRootUID=1 GraphicsEnabler=No I have 10.7.0 1201N but cannot test at the moment without my backup disks, usb pens, etc. Anyway, still waiting for kernel in the other thread.
  14. Nope. I had freezes a lot more earlier than I started to test external displays via VGA out. Not really. Spaces switching animation is enough. Or, and that's weird, nothing at all: I left my machine for a night downloading, display switched off after five minutes and when I woke up I pressed any key, screens go up and voila - freeze, regarding to download's state it was stuck five hours earlier. I switched from 10.6.8 to 10.7.3 again, so I will try to test some cases. Again.
  15. Extracted files from 10.7.4 11E46 Delta Update for testing (I'm using 10.6 at the moment): All Intel graphics kexts: http://cl.ly/Fve4 Only Intel GMA X3100 kexts: http://cl.ly/Fv0o intelgmax3100.11E46.zip Sshhh.
