I am trying to learn and read and understand in order to build a great machine ! Since discovering Insanely Mac my understanding of the processes and the community has leapt up, especially in relation to other sites.
I have tried to do as much research as I can, but am still a little unsure about a few decisions. I am building a machine with the sole purpose of Motion graphics and video editing, Cinema4d - vray - autocad -FCP - after effects So with this in mind I thought I would push the boat out and go for ....
Intel Xeon E5 2650 (8 core) Gigabyte GA-X79S-UP5 32GB 1600Mhz DDR3 GeForce GTX 760 SATA 6Gb/s 240GB SSD all this stuffed in the G5 case as best as I can ! (i hope to do this beautifully ....we will see!)
Now my first question is for my intended use - C4D etc, is this much better than going for say a
Intel Core i7-4770K on a Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H ? My understanding is that the Xeon chip will process better with 8 cores for the type of work that I am doing ? However its clock speed is 2.0 with turbo boost of 2.8 ? is this still better than the I7 ? with its faster speed etc ?
My second question is really what does the lack of power management sleep and speedstep on the socket 2011 actually end up meaning for a user ?
At the moment as I understand it ....if the OS goes into sleep it won't wake from this mode ? but I am sure about the rest of power management and speedstep ?? I am being stupid but I haven't found an article or topic which covers this ! Could someone explain it to a simpleton like me please ?! Thank you everyone and anyone for taking the time to read this, I would be really excited and interested on hearing people thoughts opinions and expertise, and also please do say if you think I am being to ambitious for a first time build.
I look forward to learning and discovering more and more as I go along, thanks for anyone pointing me in the right direction Thank you in advance 15Days
