    SSDT help - LAN1 on P9X79 WS

Rampage, the overall point is to avoid using EBI in Chameleon. Without EBI, the Mac App store does not work for me. Now, your DSDT for P9X79 WS does not have EBI at all, whereas the one for P9X79-E WS has it for both LAN devices. So yes, my request is very much valid, since I can use the Mac App store once again.

    SSDT help - LAN1 on P9X79 WS

Looks like rampage has silently updated the P9X79 WS DSDT to incorporate EthernetBuiltIn (link). I guess my request was quite valid. If anyone has this board and is using the secondary LAN device, simply edit the current DSDT to have PEX0 point to PEX7 and delete the PEX1 section. You should also take the chance to add or change entries to better reflect the device in OS X. Edit: Earlier above, I mixed up the DSDT's for P9X79 WS and P9X79-E WS. But you can just copy out the entry for GBE in the latter, which has the EBI change, and it will work.
  3. Thanks Maniac. I tried editing the DSDT but was not able to do so correctly. As it turns out anyway, the issue was unrelated to having multiple NIC's. It had something to do with GraphicsEnabler and EthernetBuiltIn both enabled, and how this situation worked with my hardware. Once I was able to do away with GE, so did the problem.

    SSDT help - LAN1 on P9X79 WS

I suppose my request is really quite unusual? For whatever reason, some input would be appreciated. Even rampage ignored my e-mail. Oh well.

Basic graphics card that works out-of-box?

Thanks Slice, it's good to hear of another card. I asked my question in this sub-forum since Mac Pros use ATI. But if Nvidia can work perfectly then all is well. Ordered the MSI card this morning.

Basic graphics card that works out-of-box?

Hi Gringo, thanks. I read the wikipedia page and the only way I could identify a Kepler card is if the code name starts with 'GK'. The GT 640 has five different revisions, four of them with GK code names. The one I linked to should be Kepler-based and mentions it in the description.

Basic graphics card that works out-of-box?

Looks like the least expensive Kepler-based GT card is the GT 640 with PCI-E 3.0 (Newegg).

Basic graphics card that works out-of-box?

Oh I'm sorry, what you said would include the GT 600 series which is a lot more affordable. I also stumbled across this thread with similar discussion.

Basic graphics card that works out-of-box?

Thanks for your replies! I checked the prices of cards in the 600 series and they start at US$100, which is quite more than I'd like to spend. But if they are the most compatible, then I'll have no other choice. In terms of 6000 series, there is only GeForce 6200 available and this is AGP/PCI only. Sorry, I should have mentioned PCI-E.
  10. What would you suggest is a good basic card that works OOB on Mavericks? It should be generally available online and not require any tweaking (with kext's, boot flags, DSDT). Price would be secondary. I bought a GeForce 210 based on info from wiki.osx86project.org and it's not going well and the card requires GE=yes. Any feedback appreciated! Edit: PCI-E
  11. Hello, I'm having some problems adding 'Ethernet Built In' into rampagedev's SSDT for the P9X79 WS board. At the same time, I'm trying to use the secondary LAN device (LAN1, Intel 82574L) rather than the primary (LAN0). I can't seem to have GIGE@0 appear in IOreg for LAN1, and the other injected entries are missing. Could anyone have a quick look at this? I need 'Ethernet Built In' to fix my Mac App store login issue. Thanks very much for any assistance.
  12. I'm having some problems using an internal and external ethernet device at the same time. The internal is an Intel 82574, while the external is Realtek RTL8169E (PCI-E). The problem stems from an issue logging into the Mac App store. The Intel works with EthernetBuiltIn, but after the Realtek is installed, the system will crash to a black screen before login (with -v boot option). So EthernetBuiltIn is not compatible with the Realtek. Is there any way to use both NIC's? After reading this thread, it sounds like it would work with EFI string manipulation. Further complicating this is the need to use GraphicsEnabler. The card is an EVGA GeForce 210 1GB. Sorry if this is a newbish question, any guidance would be appreciated.

    New Driver for Realtek RTL8111

Thank you Mieze for all your help! I have a much better understanding of how things work now. It was silly to declare EthernetBuiltIn for an external Realtek. I don't think it's even possible to login to Apple services through the Realtek. I tried all your suggestions, and npci=0x2 turned out to be critical for my system. I think the editing of SSDT will ensure the stability, especially with one of two internal (Intel 82574) and external Realtek both active now. Edit: Looks like I was wrong about both playing nice together. Edit2: The problem was due to having to use both EthernetBuiltIn and GraphicsEnabler in Chameleon.

    New Driver for Realtek RTL8111

Thank you Mieze. The boot file declares an SSDT and entries: '-v -f npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=yes EthernetBuiltIn=yes'. I was only able to generate a kernel panic with option '-x', ironically. There were no log files in \L\L\DR. Chameleon is version 2.2 svn r2266. Attached is a photo of the panic, ioreg and IORegistryExplorer dumps, and SSDT. Please let me know if you need further information. warduck.ioreg.SSDT.zip

    New Driver for Realtek RTL8111

I'm having some problems with the Mac App store with the driver. When I try to login, it says 'An unknown error has occurred'. I tried deleting NetworkInterfaces.plist in \Library\Preferences\SystemConfiguration\. Then I found this thread and tried EthernetBuiltIn set to 'yes'. But this leads to a black screen before the login screen! I had to boot to installer and Terminal to remove the entry and restore the desktop. I'm at a loss of what to do next.
