  1. i've just done Grav3mind's tutorial, but after i reboot i get an error message telling me that AppleAC97Audio.ktext doesn't work and that I should reinstall it or contact the vendor... as contacting the vendor poses a problem (), i reinstalled the ktext numerous times, but keep getting the same error... i'd hate to have to boot into ubuntu everytime i need audio, though can anyone help me with what i can try?
  2. [SOLVED]Installation DVD refuses to boot

okay, problem solved.. in my BIOS i basically disabled all the hardware i wasn't going to need for the installation: LAN, Audio, USB, SATA, and Hyperthreading. all in all i think it was turning off hyperthreading that did the trick, since my OS X won't boot correctly if it is enabled Oh yeah, i'm posting this from a native OS X installation with everything working completely out of the box, except sound, but that shouldn't be too hard to set up!
  3. [SOLVED]Installation DVD refuses to boot

i read suggestions here on the forum about removing all the USB hardware before booting from the DVD, which i did. now its not just rebooting without giving any reason, it's showing me an error message right after the countdown screen. System config file /com.apple.Boot.plist not found. i'm not sure whether the reboot and this error are in any way related, but if they are, i take it this is a step forward, since now i actually know whats causing problems. any ideas?
  4. [SOLVED]Installation DVD refuses to boot

  5. Hey everyone, I am experiencing the problem that my installation dvd of 'Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2]' refuses to boot. After the countdown (during which i can press F8) ends, it just loads all the way up to 'Loading HFS+ file: [system/Library/Extentions.mkext] from 4230456' and then reboots. Sometimes i can actually see a glimpse of the 'starting darwin' text, but it still reboots. I have tried booting into safe mode with the -x option, but i still get the same problem. This same dvd though boots on my dell laptop without any problems, so i'm guessing its my hardware. *UPDATED* My specs: Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz, SSE + SSE2 Motherboard: Fujitsu Siemens D1567 Chipset: Intel i865 Memory: 1024MB (2x 512MB) Bios: Phoenix Graphics: ATI Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro , 128MB Harddisks: Samsung HD160JJ 160GB SATA-II Samsung SV1203N 120GB (Ultra-)ATA -> trying to install here! Optical Drives: PLEXTOR DVDR PX-708A PLEXTOR DVD-ROM PX-116A2 OSX86 burned to DVD+R Can anyone think of a workaround for this? I wouldn't want to have to stop installing OSX86, seeing as I've already invested a lot of time into this
