  1. Samsung R Series Notebooks

derek, would you please add some sample .kext to this thread to show how you got the atheros wireless working? i am running 10.5.8 on an r510, i do not know the model number of the atheros card, for some reason this info is hard to find out, all i can make out is i think ar58xb63. everything works on my machine apart from: wireless fans (they're spinning but it gets pretty hot at times) brightness&sleep (don't care about these two)
  2. i will keep a copy of this kext on my hd, so if anybody needs it in the future and the mirrors are gone mail me. yeah, i might just give up with this atheros wireless and (try before i) buy a pci-e os x compatible one.
  3. now have ethernet working thanks to some11 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1569472 used osx86 tools to replace apple.yukon.kext now just need to get the wireless working.
  4. THANK YOU SO MUCH My ethernet now works! funny, i did what you said in the instructions but for some reason that didn't work, thank you so much for taking the time 18 months after your post! now i just have to figure out if i can get the wireless working. THANKS!!! i owe you one.
  5. yes, could somebody please please upload again? i need it.
  6. wow what overwhelming responses in our exclusive `new users lounge`. help for those who need it most! well, i managed to get os x up and running, with two problems: ethernet not working wireless not working i tried replacing kexts specifically said to solve this problem, and now my ethernet and wireless have completely disappeared from the network config sidebar. i will post what i had to do to get os x installed (mainly bios settings) and if i get internet working ill also post how. off to macgeeks to see if i can get any info there. followed installation guide: Hackintosh Tutorial: Install a Mac Leopard OS X Retail DVD on a PC http://menoob.com/hackintosh/hackintosh-in.../#ixzz13I25iYHd and got laptop drivers installed via this guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1106223 have a samsung r510 laptop. this method worked for me with 10.5.6 retail, downloaded combo update to 10.5.8, and r560_system_drivers_10.5.8. all i had to do was change my bios settings to: intel speedstep: enabled legacy os boot: disabled legacy usb support:enabled large disk access mode: other achi mode control: manual native ahci mode: enabled edb: enabledusb s3wake-up: enabled boot device priority: 1. dvdrom, 2. hard disk brightness control: manual (still doesnt work in os x but does before i load into os) prior to installation i received the error image telling me to replace batteries in my wireless mouse (tho i only had a trackpad connected) so i plugged in my usb wireless mouse en voila- i could install. i also attached a usb apple keyboard and wl mouse as the installer wouldn't recognise my keyboard and mouse until the update and r560 driver pkg. straight away i went to system preferences>energy saver>computer&display sleep: never, disable hard disk sleep. the reason being it went to sleep after the installation before i could update to 10.5.8 so i had to start again. after update to 10.5.8 i didn't restart, but installed r560_system_drivers_10.5.8 from some russian site, then restarted. also the update hanged for a while at 2 mins remaining, just wait it out, for me it eventually finished installing. now i just have to get internet working on it.......... http://menoob.com/hackintosh/hackintosh-in.../#ixzz13I25iYHd
  7. tonight i am going to restore os to usb stick, install the r510 .pkg to it, and try boot from that with boot132.
  8. hi all, i want to install os x retail on my r510 but i am a noob and extremely right-brained, and after reading and reading for days i still don`t understand the basics of what i need to use/do to get this working. i have the following: boot 132 cd kabyl bumby boot cd boot dfe apple 10.4 retail for macbook copy of 10.5 retail leopard copy of 10.5.6 retail copy of 10.6 retail snow leopard (all copies are functioning on macs) samsung r510 pkg virgin wd scorpio blue 320gb sata 5400rpm hdd what tools am i missing? do i need to slipstream the bootloader with something? any bios settings i need to change? do i need an os x disc specifically for macbook, or will any type work? i appreciate copies are not great. i have tried all combinations of bootloaders/osx`s listed above. after booting from bootloader disc, pressing enter, i put in os x dvd and press enter, the white apple logo screen flashes for a second, then the machine restarts. when i put in os x 10.4 for macbook, some info runs on the screen, then it`s all greyed out with the message `you need to restart your computer`. which i cant do as i`m on a pc. tried plugging apple keyboard in, performing restart with shortcuts, powering off to a dead machine, nothing works. please note i don`t expect anyone to do the legwork, but i would so appreciate someone simply telling me what tools they used to get it working. fiona. samsung r510 bios version 04LI
  9. turns out motherboard was somehow completely screwed. i have since condemned the wretched machine to the pits of hell.
  10. Introduce yourself.

hi! i am fiona and am going to turn my samsung r510 laptop into a hackbook with official os x. when i succeed i will share how i did it. oh what fun !
  11. Hi all, I have an Intel Pentium d 266ghz, 1024Mb ram, ASUS P5VDC-MX motherboard, Seagate 320GB hard disk. I have unplugged my primary IDE (samsung) cos it's got all my files on it and i didn't want this install to lose any of my stuff. I installed Jas 10.4.8, PC restarted, msg comes up No Primary IDE detected! Press f1 to resume (no problem here i think- it's cos i unplugged my samsung and use the seagate- whenever i do this i get this msg) then the PC loads Darwin, then I get a message saying: "You need to restart your computer.... etc". So i do it, time and time again, still I cannot get past this 'restart' prompt. <The message on the screen behind the 'restart' prompt is: panic(cpu 0 caller 0x003A8D2F): Unable to find driver for this platform: "ACPI".
