hehe, I was here all the time but I just got the dimension 8400 about 2 weeks ago. if you are planning to install Snow, you need this kext for sound. AppleAC97Audio.kext.zip EDIT: after installing this kext, set Line-out to 6 channels and set Left speaker to channel 3 and Right speaker to channel 4

Dell Dimension 8400 10.6.8 (Guide)
iMorocco replied to fr3ak!'s topic in Hardware Components and Drivers
I've made dsdt for the Dimension 8400 Bios A09, with it everything works (Sata AHCI, IDE, Sleep, CMOS reset fix...) you can use it for Leo and Snow You must set SATA Operation to RAID Autodetect / AHCI in the bios DSDT_D8400.zip -

Can someone with a PowerMac and 7800GT please dump his device-properties for me. I need it to make an EFI-string for my card. Just start Terminal and type: sudo -s type your password and then type: ioreg -l -w0 -p IODeviceTree | grep device-properties > /dump.txt the dump.txt is now in your root directory EDIT: or if you know the right values for: @0,display-cfg @0,fboffset @1,display-cfg Please post them here.

I think you are installing injectors the wrong way or there is something wrong with your system. The 8600gt 256mb is one of the most compatible cards with MacOS and 99% of the injectors should give you CI and QE. May I ask you how you've installed the kext you got from me? EDIT: Sorry, I did not read your last post. The card should work on 10.5.2 till 10.5.5 but I didn't try 10.5.6, so I can't tell you if it will work or not.

Try this kext. NVinject.kext.zip

Try this one. I don't remember where I got it from, I just modified to make it work for me. Big thanx goes to the one that made it. AppleHDA.kext.zip
-
Try this one, If this does't work for you, then I don't know what else I can do. don't forget to remove any injector (NVinject.kext/NVKush.kext/Natit.kext/Titan.kext) from your extensions folder before you install and use kexthelper to install. Kext_Helper_b7.app.rar Titan.kext.zip

Sorry to hear that. I don't think your video problem is related to nvcaps. If you have Intel integrated video, try to backup and remove all the AppleIntelGMA* and AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer kexts from your extentions folder and see if it helps
-
Glad to hear that You did not have to install those drivers for your videocard to work It is not a requirement if it loads ok You're welcome
-
Try attaching the monitor cable to the other port of your videocard
