Geekbench is broken, scores are {censored}. Don't give a {censored} about them until Geekbench was updated. Use Luxmark, scores same or even better than Windows. Also gaming performance on macOS is great. Those crappy Geekbench scores aren't represented anywhere in real life so they really don't matter.

JFYI: Vega 56 and Vega 64 suffer from the same issue on Geekbench, yet there has not been any performance loss in real-life use. Actually the opposite is the case with the new drivers.

10.14.6 B1 drivers improved performance even more. With 1100MHz HBM clock Luxmark score now is closer to 54k, Geekbench went up to almost 190k. Dirt 4 runs at a steady 60fps on max settings with 1440p or 93fps on average without Vsync.

Do you know what software deprecation means? OpenCL/OpenGL has been deprecated since Mojave.

It means it will not be updated at all with latest stable releases of OpenCL/OpenGL and will disappear very soon.

Any developer not moving to Metal by 10.15 will be staying behind. 10.14 was a warning, 10.15 will be a smack in the head by Apple just like it was with Rosetta. And 32bit software support will be gone too.

OpenGL is being replaced by Vulkan anyway...

You can get into the technicalities that they will still be included in 10.15, but the point is it's EOL (End of Life). Adobe will most likely completely remove OpenCL from their menus mid cycle of 10.15.

Just put the original shroud back on and sell it. That's what I did.

Why? I sold my Vega FE and bought a Radeon VII

Only ~$250 difference (+Waterblock of course). Worth the upgrade for me (I can play 4k games easily at high framerates) and it does better in certain applications.

Also if you want you can sell the games it comes with on eBay and save some more. I'm not sure about EU prices though, this is for USA only.

To me Radeon VII is what Vega 64/FE should have been. I wasn't super happy with Vega FE performance, but I am extremely happy with Radeon VII. It should last for a couple of years.

    Check here:

It will show the GPU Die temp in iStat Menu (or for example Heaven/Valley benchmarks) but not the HotSpot. AMD has added a lot of new sensors to the Radeon VII compared to Vega.

Yeah I haven't had any major issues except DisplayPort audio distortion...otherwise R7 has been pretty solid for me.

OpenCL & OpenGL will be gone by 10.15 in favor of Metal this year anyway, so wouldn't worry about it too much. It's going to force all developers like Adobe, Black Magic Design, etc. to move to Metal 2.

Radeon VII arrived and working well. No AGDP patch or Whatevergreen needed. PowerPlayTable modding is working as well. Did a 970mV UV and with that Dirt 4 runs at 1440p with max settings at stable 60fps (Vsync) with barely audible fans.

No color issues here with 10.14.5 Beta 3. However I still have "scratchy" audio from the DisplayPort output from the Radeon VII. Drivers definitely seem unfinished and Performance isn't there yet especially with Geekbench (it may be the software's fault). On X299 system as well. I resorted to using Bluetooth on my display and headphones and external speakers for now, but would be nice if the audio wasn't scratchy. For some reason that problem goes away after a while of use, but latest beta made it worst.

Mobo is Prime Deluxe II (pretty much same as Prime Deluxe).

I've tried various SSDTs but it doesn't help. I might try another PCIe port when I have time.

It's still Beta. Everyone here and other forums should use the Feedback Assistant and keep reporting to Apple about GPU issues and they will fix it most likely. (I recommend not adding the logs when asked for attachments, but send them screenshots if you can).

I am pretty sure they want to make Radeon VII perform well, they have an internal team that all used to work at AMD and the Metal framework was written by ex-AMD employees.

Geekbench most likely needs a software update. Luxmark definitely shows the correct (or close to) real life performance gains over Vega 64.

There's definitely some issues with OpenCL performance in macOS + Radeon VII, I have noticed a system freeze when 2 programs that use the GPU at the same time try to steal resources from one another. It's definitely a beta issue.

Also remember in 10.15 (coming out this year) OpenCL/OpenGL will be gone...so it will be completely Metal, so I assume they are still making changes to accommodate this to help with the transition to 10.15.

Regarding your FCPX experience, I ran BruceX during when I had Radeon Frontier (same as Vega64 but with more VRAM) and it took 16 seconds to complete. With Radeon VII it took 10-11 seconds, so there's definitely a jump in performance.

There is interface in Clover GUI to tune startup sound parameters

Computer will play a sound before enter Clover GUI. To do this you have to
    1. Use CloverX64.efi revision 4852 or up.
    2. Place AudioDxe-64.efi into drivers64 and drivers64UEFI. Playing is possible in both legacy and UEFI modes. AudioDxe.efi is included into Clover project and will be differ from original by Goldfish64 but almost compatible.
    3. Place sound.wav and may be sound_night.wav into your theme folder, for example /EFI/CLOVER/theme/Clovy/. The sound must be 16bit, and 44100 or 48000Hz. But I also made conversion on the fly so 8000Hz is also supported.
    4. Tune sound output in Clover GUI as on screen above. The settings will be stored in NVRAM and used next restart. With legacy Clover or systems without nvram you have to use EmuVariableUefi.efi and rc.scripts to save nvram.plist. For very new systems like Z370 where nvram is not working in macOS there is a chance that the nvram is working on Clover level and so all will works. SIC! Legacy Clover saved Variables only with Apple guid so why it will not work. After some discussing I may rebuild the system to use AppleBootGuid. In this case the system will not be compatible with the original driver but will work with legacy systems.

No more needs in BootChimeCfg and BootChimeDxe while the compatibility still remains.

Fixes random kernel panics in macOS 10.14 upon boot when kext injection is used and keepsyms=1 boot argument is not provided. Now this should work just as normal like in 10.13 and lower.

My voltage is set at 1.3 already.  so are you suggesting maybe lower the overclock from 4.8 to 4.7?

There is an audio interface in Clover. Regards to Goldfish64 https://github.com/Goldfish64/AudioPkg
I made a sound playback in Clover using his Audio driver.
    Place driver AudioDxe.efi into /EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI/ AudioDxe.efi.zip
    Place application BootChimeCfg.efi into /EFI/CLOVER/tools/ BootChimeCfg.efi.zip
Place a sound file into your theme folder, for example, /EFI/CLOVER/theme/cesium/. There can be two files: "sound.wav" and "sound_night.wav".   For example sound.wav.zip
After reboot you will hear sound before Clover GUI. It is startup sound like chime in real Mac.
Sound file must be 44100Hz, 16bps, WAV format.
You can convert any sound file into such format using VLC application.

    Tuning.
Before first start you have to tune your sound system.
    Start Clover, goto Shell.
    Shell> fs0:
    fs0:> cd EFI\CLOVER\tools
    fs0:EFI\CLOVER\tools>BootChimeCfg.efi
    You will see all options
-l -- list all devices. See and choose.
Then you have to configure and hear.
    BootChimeCfg.efi -s 1 -v 60 -t
Audio Output=1 and Sound Volume=60% will be stored in NVRAM and will be used by Clover after next restart.

    Enjoy!

    Sync and Async sound play.
Sync play - sound play before enter Clover GUI. Clover GUI started after the sound is finished.
Async play - sound started to play before Clover GUI started and continue playing when GUI is ready.
    To switch edit config.plist
<key>GUI</key> <dict> <key>PlayAsync</key> <false/> In theory async is better. But somehow async playing is buggy so default is false.

Multilevel dithering. By default level = 1.
level = 0 will be without dithering.
For radial gradients like on Clovy vector theme this is not enough. A distance between different colors is too big. So we need dithering with larger steps. I can't calculate the step automatically, so I introduce addition for SVG "ditherCoarse".
It must have a namespace Clover to be ignored by other applications.
    <radialGradient id="GrayRadialBackground_1_" cx="358.2806" cy="0.743" r="0.8783" gradientTransform="matrix(4.700000e-14 768 -768 4.700000e-14 1176.1536 -274946.875)" gradientUnits="userSpaceOnUse" clover:ditherCoarse="16"> <stop offset="0" style="stop-color:#606060"/> <stop offset="1" style="stop-color:#1F1F1F"/> </radialGradient> So there is a result.
Test square dithered with coarse level=1. As well as the sphere.
    While radial background with coarse=16

SVG theme can include PNG images. To scale it dithering used.

    Instruction is follow
    1. With vector graphics editor import PNG file into your svg file.
    2. Select the object and convert it into pattern.
    3. Create an empty shape and set for it Fill->Pattern. There is an circle in the screen.
    4. The pattern ID always must be "pattern_xxx" i.e. contain the word "pattern".
