  1. Just because you see something underlined, does NOT mean it is a download link. Underlining has been used in the English language to emphasize a word or words for centuries before the internet was invented. If you move your mouse over a suspected link and it changes to a hand, it is most likely a link. Don't criticize the guide because you assume that everything underlined or highlighted MUST be a link. Also the "splitting" does make sense. Something called sections or chapters, etc. also used for centuries in the English language. Like I said before, not everything applies to everyone. You first have to READ to see what part applies to you, and it TELLS you where to go next. I think Verdant did a very good job trying to cover all possibilities for different users and I'm sure he is sorry he didn't tailor the process just for you.
  2. I don't see where it is unorganized. There are many steps involved and it depends on your needs as to which way to go. The only way to not have to jump around is if he kept repeating the same instructions that apply in many different scenarios. Or he could have tailored it to only 1 option for installation which would leave a lot of people out as it would not apply to them. There is no easy way to get OSX running on an nVidia chipset since it is not natively supported in Mac OS. (All real Macs run on Intel chipsets.) I followed the guide and got it up and running on my machine. Also, Verdant is very helpful.

I think what Micky is trying to say is that if you asked for help here and gave specifics of what the problem was, they could tell you what options / switches to try to make it work. The fact that TonyCrap worked only shows that their default installation options happened to work with your particular hardware setup. Their "programs" are stolen from other peoples hard work and they have certain options already set where it might not be set by default in the original author's work. The fact that they have an option already set by default that works for your hardware does not make their installer unique. It just means they have a unique setting. (One that is different from the stolen source.) Their work is by no means unique. It's more like stealing a Volkswagon and putting Fararri fenders on it and saying you invented a new car.

Wow... That phone # thing was supposed to be a joke. I never had any intentions of actually calling them myself. Nor should anyone else.

I think it's more because you are not recommending the use of THEIR tools. (Like Multi-Least)
  6. I am aware of the console app. I just don't know where to look to see what is causing it to crash. I PM'd you a log file.
  7. verdant, Ok it's pretty much as unstable as ever. I've tried everything you have suggested to no avail. (All of which are greatly appreciated.) Can you tell me where I should be looking in the logs to see why it crashed? Or I could send you the log files if you would like to take a look. If so, please tell me what file(s) and where they are located. Thanks again.

You mean y'all don't have a money back guarantee? I'm sure he still is. Just under a different user name.
  9. RTC PIC TMR DTGP LPCB Patched I will check on the other stuff you mentioned later.
  10. Verdant, The new dsdt you sent is working much better. It still crashes an average of like once a day, but not like every half hour or so like before. (If it were Windows, that would be normal. LOL) I also switched from MacPro3,1 to iMac12,2. Any advantage to switching to MacPro5,1? And what is the purpose of AppleTyMCEDriver.kext? Thanks again Spoke too soon. Right after I posted this, I closed my mail and the computer locked up. Come to think of it, that has happened a few other times. (Not quitting the Mail app, just closing the window.) Any known issues with the Mail app? I'm not sure what logs I should be looking at or where they are located.

Huh? I don't get what you are saying. Who's trying to be neutral? (Or did you mean neutered?) I appreciate what you are saying but you can't buy respect. I donated because of all the help I got here and don't expect anything more than anyone else. But thanks for the vote of confidence!

I think I'm gonna start my own forum about freedom of speech and ban everyone who disagrees with me.
  13. @ neilbah In order to get past the "Still waiting for root device" on my 780i I had to do the following: Install AHCIPortInjector.kext Use npci=0x2000 AND PCIRootUID=1 That got me past the root device issue but still could not boot without safe mode. Needed a DSDT.aml to fix that. Chameleon Wizard will do that for you but won't optimize it for your system. That's where Verdant comes in. He da man! Of course everything in his guide and what he is telling you now is needed as well. Those are just the missing pieces of my puzzle and hopefully will be of use for you. The only thing is disconnecting my SATA DVD did not seem to make a difference on mine. I went through several iterations of build and rebuild and whether it was connected or not, seemed to make no difference. My last successful build had it connected. May be different for you. Also I do not have a jmicron controller on this mobo so maybe that will come into play?
