  1. Desperately need help with ethernet controller PCI card

Thanks for the response but I just bought my D-Link card. Also I cannot find this PCI card out here in India. Is there some thing like this that I can try for the card that I already have and is working with Linux?
  2. Desperately need help with ethernet controller PCI card

I saw that link already, problem is that the pystar link is dead. And I could not find it anywhere else. Believe me, google had very little to throw up and I did exhaust all that I stumbled upon
  3. Hi, I managed to get my Mavericks up and running on my AMD machine and all is well except for internet. My LAN port got fried recently and ever since I have been using a D-Link DGE-528T ethernet PCI card. While this works OOB on my Linux machine I am unable to get this working on my Hackintosh. I have tried so many things but nothing seems to work. 1. I disabled my on board LAN controller on my BIOS but that did not help. 2. I took the RTL8169 kext from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/200286-custom-kext-for-d-link-dge-528t-pci-network-card/ but that too did not work. I put this into my S/L/E and into my IONetworkingFamily/Plugins folder but no dice Whatever I do my hackintosh says that there are no PCI cards connected, I am completely stumped and I got no ideas, so please help me out. This is the only thing left for me to do on my mavericks setup, so I request you experts to lend me some advice Peace Ananth
  4. I managed to resolve this with the MBR patch, so this is is not a problem anymore
  5. Custom Kext For D-Link DGE-528T PCI Network Card

I cannot get this to work in Mavericks, can someone please help?
  6. Hi, I had a SL hackintosh on my Linux machine running thanks to a lot of help from this forum. Recently I had a HD crash and have had to replace the drive and now I am in the process of trying to get mavericks installed. I tried to restore a backup that I had of my SL but that is failing (stuck of waiting for root device, no surprises there!!), so I decided to get mavericks afresh. So I made a USB installer with the Retail image downloaded from App store and using #####. Now when I tried to install, I am unable to select my existing hfs+ partition (this is where I tried to restore my SL image). This is a partition done using gparted using my Linux host. When I tried to select this as the destination for mavericks install, the installer complained - "cannot startup os x from this disk". I tried to get into disk utilities to erase this partition and reformat but there I get "Volume erase failed - mediakit reports no such partition". All I want to do is to install mavericks on my existing hfs+ partition ( I even reformatted that partition using gparted to hfs+ anew but still the installer would not accept that as a valid destination). I am stuck at the installer itself not knowing if this attempt is going to work, so please do help. Ananth My disk topography: (sda3 is where I am trying to get mavericks installed) Disk /dev/sda: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 121601 cylinders, total 1953525168 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes Disk identifier: 0x0009c773 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 2048 195311615 97654784 83 Linux /dev/sda2 195313662 1722839039 763762689 5 Extended Partition 2 does not start on physical sector boundary. /dev/sda3 1722839040 1953523711 115342336 af HFS / HFS+ /dev/sda5 195313664 203216895 3951616 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sda6 203218944 593842175 195311616 83 Linux /dev/sda7 593844224 1013274623 209715200 83 Linux EDIT: Ok, when I selected my HDD, it did tell me that the partitions cannot be modified as it uses MBR. Is there any workaround for this?
  7. That fixed my CMOS reset I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me get this far @spakk the 10 pages of conversation stands testimony to your patience and your helpful nature. You have stood by me for more than 2 weeks clearing all doubts no matter how silly they were. I cannot but state the fact that I have learnt so much in the process. It has been a real pleasure and your attitude to helping is phenomenal. Here is a heart felt thanks @dkechoi Thank heavens I found a Linux expert like you. Your instructions were precise and to the point and you responded to all my questions with such accuracy and speed - I never thought Linux would help me simplify so many things. So hats off to your knowledge and once again thanks for everything @ptp, @clemj06 You guys were most patient with me giving me all possible suggestions to get me to success. In fact, I must state here that I am now successfully running 10.7.4 - something that you guys stated some time back. I will eventually get ML going but I would like to thank you for all the support Finally a warm applause to this forum - it is insane indeed! Everyone is helpful and the best part is that no one wants to give up on a newbie's problems until they are able to see them through to their goal. It is so motivating and it is that support that takes people like me, who often want to give up, to that elusive hackint0sh Peace
  8. I used this to fix it, do not know how to test it though as I did not note when this reset occurred http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/253992-cmos-resets-on-restarts-after-sleep-and-wake-in-107-lion/page__st__320#entry1712063
  9. Yes, I am learning that the hard way After I installed Voodoo 2.8.2 I am stuck with "still waiting for root device". Now my Virtual Box refuses to mount the sda5.vmdk, I do not what I have screwed up Failed to open a session for the virtual machine snow. VD: error VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED opening image file '/home/ananthakrishnan/VirtualBox VMs/sda5.vmdk' (VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED). AMD-V is disabled in the BIOS. (VERR_SVM_DISABLED). Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) Component: Console Interface: IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392} EDIT I do not know how but my entire BIOS settings had gone to default. I have reset all the values and everything is fine now. Voodoo worked and my audio is fine too
  10. @dkechoi Thanks. Believe me (though it may not appear to be so) I am working on various information I am finding in google. I only hit the forum after I have tried enough and I have no next step or if I am replying to someone's suggestion.
  11. Yipeeeeeee.. I did it!! I did use the next from http://www.insanelym...8168c-ethernet/ What I noticed was that in the kext there was another next. Despite the number of times I installed it, it still never loaded (I used the Loaded tab in next wizard). So I used the kext within the next, used kext wizard to install it and the I repaired permissions etc and I got a new "Ethernet 2" in my network. I am typing this from Safari in my Mac Lion now. I still cannot get my audio to work though @dkechoi The vendor ID and device ID I got is from System Info which is what we are supposed to use while making out dsdt (as per hackintosh instructions). I thought this was accurate enough for me to get help. In fact in the kext that finally worked for, I checked that the device id and vendor ID (8168 and 10ec) was already there in Info.plist (this is what the guy in that thread also mentioned). I apologize if I gave anyone any wrong information thus making it more difficult to assist
  12. I also tried using the kext at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280822-solved-os-x-1074-broke-my-realtek-rtl8168c-ethernet/ Modified with my device and vendor ID and without - in both cases nothing works. Nothing has helped me with this ethernet issue
  13. @spakk Here is the original Lion version of IONetworkingFamily.kext - here I cannot find IOPCIPrimaryMatch key at all - so I got no clue where to give my device id and vendor id Evoreboot worked, so thats one problem down. But ethernet and audio are just not working Here is a screenie of network in Lion IONetworkingFamily.kext.zip
  14. If I use the iatkos way, do I do that from my existing Lion or from VB? Also what do you mean by "Be able to login to user"? I did respond to that sir! I was unable to find one for Lion - would this be ok - http://www.osx86.net...w_leopard..html ? @spakk One other thing - in the extensions folder that you gave me I checked IONetworkigFamily kext - there too there is no AppleRTL8169Ethernet. So what are you referring to as the universal driver?
