Which layout-id are you using? 0x19160000 or 0x19160002? You may need to patch the SKL framebuffer.

Run IORegistryExplorer with your laptop running on its own and look at the SKL framebuffer info (should be under IGPU@2 or GFX0@2) to identify the port # used by the LCD screen. Then plug the HDMI screen and do the same. Look at this example. It applies to HD3000 graphics, but the principles remain the same.

If you look inside the SKL framebuffer, you'll see that the above 2 x HD520 layouts are defined as shown below. Layouts provide information on video output ports and their characteristics.
    0x19160000:
    0000 1619 0000 0000 5978 0800 0000 0000
    0103 0303 0000 2002 0000 5001 0000 0060
    6C05 0000 6C05 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
    0000 0800 0200 0000 9800 0000 0105 0900
    0004 0000 8701 0000 0204 0A00 0004 0000
    8701 0000 FF00 0000 0100 0000 2000 0000

    0x19160002:
    0200 1619 0000 0000 8978 0800 0000 0000
    0103 0303 0000 9003 0000 0000 0000 0060
    6C05 0000 6C05 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
    0000 0800 0200 0000 9804 0000 0105 0900
    0004 0000 C703 0000 0204 0A00 0004 0000
    C703 0000 FF00 0000 0100 0000 2000 0000

    In each of those layouts:
0000 0800 0200 0000 represents the framebuffer index #0 on port number #0 and it is set with LVDS connector type 0200 0000
0105 0900 0004 0000 represents the framebuffer index #1 on port number #5 and it is set with DP connector type 0004 0000
0204 0900 0004 0000 represents the framebuffer index #2 on port number #6 and it is set with DP connector type 0004 0000

If, as many other laptops, your HP's HDMI port is wired to port #5 and the FB should therefore be patched to be set to HDMI connector type 0008 0000. So you would change:
    0105 0900 0004 0000
    to
    0105 0900 0008 0000

However you may find that this is not sufficient and the (priority or delay?) byte 09 would need to be changed to 12. That would make a final patch of:
    0105 0900 0004 0000
    to
    0105 1200 0008 0000
However, this particular patch only seems to be necessary if your laptop hangs/KPs/reboots when you plug the HDMI cable. It does not seem to be the case with your laptop.

    @DAXGr:
Here is the VBIOS I copied the EFI part from for my video card: msi_7870_hybrid.zip
If you compare the structure of both, the offset for the flag is probably 0x241 and is set to 0x80.

    Yes...

Post your raw DSDT extract and IOreg. Must be a issue with the GPU. I have had a lot of issues with the UD3 with my DSDT. Can never get it to play nice with all the UD3 motherboards. Out of all the MB I support this one causes 98% of the issues with DSDT compatibility.

@LatinMcG, you are correct, there is no need to patch Gigabyte BIOSes with this patch.

@WhatTheTech, thank you for testing. I don't have this line in my boot log, so I don't know why it presents. Is PM works normally with patched BIOS on your boards?
