Help me install osx86 on my MSI Wind

    Okay, so I'm trying to do it the VMWare way using Sabr's guide. So I'm trying to boot up from the MSIWindosx86 image that I mounted in VMware. I started up the machine and got an error message saying that the CPU had been disabled by the guest OS and to shut down the virtual machine. Here's where it happened: So basically it just stopped working at that point and if I reboot it does the same thing. Here's my VMWare config file if that'll help: .encoding = "windows-1252" config.version = "8" virtualHW.version = "4" scsi0.present = "TRUE" memsize = "512" ide0:0.present = "TRUE" ide0:0.fileName = "MSIWindOSx86.vmdk" ide0:0.deviceType = "rawDisk" ide1:0.present = "TRUE" ide1:0.fileName = "D:\MSIWindosx86.iso" ide1:0.deviceType = "cdrom-image" floppy0.startConnected = "FALSE" floppy0.autodetect = "TRUE" sound.present = "TRUE" sound.fileName = "Realtek HD Audio output" sound.autodetect = "FALSE" roamingVM.exitBehavior = "go" displayName = "MSIWindOSx86" guestOS = "other" nvram = "MSIWindOSx86.nvram" virtualHW.productCompatibility = "hosted" ft.secondary0.enabled = "TRUE" tools.upgrade.policy = "useGlobal" extendedConfigFile = "MSIWindOSx86.vmxf" floppy0.fileName = "A:" ide0:0.mode = "independent-persistent" uuid.location = "56 4d ba bd d4 a9 e8 b2-97 b4 ec 3d 4a b1 55 32" uuid.bios = "56 4d ba bd d4 a9 e8 b2-97 b4 ec 3d 4a b1 55 32" ide0:0.redo = "" vmotion.checkpointFBSize = "16777216" tools.syncTime = "FALSE" floppy0.present = "FALSE" paevm = "TRUE" Please help me out here as I have absolutely no clue what to do. I googled the error message and while I found people who had the issue I didn't find any fixes so your help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Ok, so I have an MSI Wind U100 (no DVD drive), which is supposed to work great with OSx86. I also have a desktop running Windows XP and the desktop has an internal DVD drive. I have the MSIWindosx86.iso file and now I need help installing it. The tools I have at my disposal that may be useful are: 256MB USB flash drive 2GB SD Memory Card Ethernet cable There are three methods I'm thinking might work, but I'm not sure how I would go about doing it. So, method 1: Make a virtual OSx86 installation DVD on a small partition of the Wind's main HDD. I know how to make the partition using GParted on my USB flash drive, but I don't know how to make it boot. Method 2 would probably be the most time consuming, so I'd prefer not to use it unless as a last resort - that would be going from vmware to native. I believe Sabr has a guide on here somewhere telling how to do that. Method 3 is just an idea I had that very likely wouldn't work: installing using the DVD drive in my desktop through an ethernet connection. So, does anyone have any thoughts? How would I make method 1 work? I'm pretty sure it's possible, but I just can't find the right software to get the job done. Thanks in advance for your help.

    ATI 3100 Integrated

I've got an integrated ATI 3100 GPU on my rig and I've got Leopard 10.5.4 running. It runs fine generally, but the graphics don't seem quite right... yes, I know, it's integrated, but from using the same GPU in Linux, XP, Vista, and 7, I know the graphics should be a bit speedier than they are... it's useable, but sometimes a little jerky. Checked the system profiler and here's what it said: So is there any way I can get it running properly... any chance it might be able to support Quartz Extreme? Or will I just have to buy a cheap GPU that's better supported? Thanks!

    WMP54G v4.1 not working

I have Uphuck 10.4.9 Running on my AMD system and am only having one problem at the moment and that is my wifi card, which is a Linksys WMP54G v4.1. I just can't seem to get it working... I've tried the Mac drivers from Ralink's site and they don't work. I belive the chipset is RaLink rt2561... I may be wrong though. Thanks! Oh, and if it helps, System Profiler says that there aren't any PCI cards installed... in case that tells you anything.

    Darwin + KDE for Non-SSE2

Well, then why wouldn't it work to install the framework and use KDE? Does the framework require SSE2?

    Darwin + KDE for Non-SSE2

Really? Someone else told me that Darwin, being the OS X kernel was 100% compatible with apple software (like iLife.)

    OS X for SSE (qemu)

So has this actually worked for someone? I'm considering purchasing a new rig, but I has socket A, meaning no SSE2! If it does work, how well does it work? Thanks!

    Darwin + KDE for Non-SSE2

The point of it is being able to use OS X sofware and have the interface of OS X.

    Darwin + KDE for Non-SSE2

I've been thinking about something that just might work for non SSE2 processors. The idea is this: take Darwin, add KDE (or another desktop environment), copy the OS X top bar and then add the real OS X dock and finder. It would take some work to make the apps work with KDE, but it's possible isn't it? After all, you can install KDE in OS X. I know that some of the apps don't support processors without SSE2, but isn't there a work around? Maybe we could use this: http://www.xdarwin.org/

I use an IDE HD so that won't work. Thanks anyway! ~Jordan

I am trying to install Uphuck 10.4.9 for AMD on my computer and it is working great except for that it will not detect the keyboard. Is there a way I can fix this without having to buy an expensive USB keyboard and would a USB keyboard even work? Thanks!~JordanI forgot to say, It's a PS/2 keyboard. Thanks!~Jordan
