  1. I know this is old, but I wanted to reply anyway. I'm pretty sure that a patch for PEGP to GFX0 is a ACPI/DSDT Patch and NOT a KextsToPatch. This should go under; <key>ACPI</key> <dict> <key>DSDT</key> <dict> <key>Patches</key> <array> <dict> <key>Comment</key> <string>PEGP [to] GFX0</string> <key>Find</key> <data>UEVHUA==</data> <key>Replace</key> <data>R0ZYMA==</data> </dict> </array> </dict> </dict> and NOT under; <key>KernelAndKextPatches</key> <dict> <key>KextsToPatch</key> <array> <dict> <key>Comment</key> <string>PEGP [to] GFX0</string> <key>Find</key> <data>UEVHUA==</data> <key>Replace</key> <data>R0ZYMA==</data> </dict> </array> </dict> This thread might help point you in the right direction. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308790-applegraphicsdevicepolicy-on-the-fly-patching-impossible-alternate-idea-but-still-does-not-seem-to-work/page-2
  2. Unfortunately I'm technically not the correct person to answer this question, but I would think that you would still have to do some sort of a "replacement" even if your goal is to "add" something. Otherwise Clover wouldn't know exactly where to inject your "additional" code into a plist. My guess is that you would have to "replace" an entire UNIQUE (system-wide) <dict></dict> with the same UNIQUE <dict></dict> PLUS your added <dict></dict> code. I'm pretty sure this will NOT work though; being that the replacement code, and the code being replaced, must be equal in size. I could be wrong, but I think that a Kext Injector (or dummy kect) would probably be a better way to go.

    [HOW TO] Modification of AMD FB + Clover injection

    That doesn't really matter, since I am running the ati-personality.pl directly. I can run the Ati-fram.command from ~/Downloads, or change the path. Either way, I get the same fatal error. Thanks for the reply to help though! fatal error: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/otool: fatal error in /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/objdump

    [HOW TO] Modification of AMD FB + Clover injection

    Thanks for all the tools, and all the helpful posts guys (Vlada., Mork vom Ork, tyufhl, Pavo, Slice, etc)! And even though I think I have everything I need (I've done this successfully multiple times on 10.9-10.11), I would like to solve the problem I am having running the script from this post on 10.12. Here is the fatal error I am getting: $ ati-personality.pl Script version 0.15 Kext /System/Library/Extensions/AMD2400Controller.kext/Contents/MacOS/AMD2400Controller Personality: Iago ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 2 Disk offset in decimal 1093104 rm: /tmp/x: Permission denied Cannot setup temp file fatal error: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/otool: fatal error in /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/objdump $ I have tried to run the command under 'sudo', and also as root. All attempts have pretty much the same results. $ su - root# ati-personality.pl Script version 0.15 Kext /System/Library/Extensions/AMD2400Controller.kext/Contents/MacOS/AMD2400Controller Personality: 5. AFAIK rootless=0 doesn't work in 10.11, it's done through CsrActiveConfig (which you have). I would just try setting it to 0x67 instead of 0x3. See if that makes any difference. FYI: You don't have to install Clover in the EFI for UEFI to work. In fact, I think it works better installed to / if your BIOS will support it. You also might want to try changing your Clover install from "CloverEFI 64-bits SATA" to "CloverEFI 64-bits BiosBlockIO". I know it makes a difference on the drives that are recognized by Clover on bootup for my system (Gigabyte X79-UD5).
  6. @Majonéz Thanks! Your fix worked perfectly!!! I too was receiving the error "Not enough physical memory is available to power on this virtual machine with its configured settings." with VMware Fusion 8.1.0 after upgrading to El Capitan 10.11.4 even though I have 48GB of RAM installed. My Activity Monitor also showed the exact same "Memory Pressure" @fearandleb was seeing as well. After changing the Memory settings in my config.plist for Clover; everything started showing up as it should in the Activity Monitor, in "About This Mac" and in System Information (System Report...). I am attaching my Clover config.plist config-NO.SN.plist.txt for anyone who would like to use it; I am using a Gigabyte X79-UD5 (You will need to change your Generate CStates and PStates settings if you aren't already using a patched ssdt.aml. I used ssdtPRGen to generate mine. ). NOTE: You MUST BOOT 'WITHOUT CACHES' AFTER MAKING CHANGES TO YOUR config.plist file or the settings won't take effect. It'll save you a lot of headache. 7. I decided to write up an Article on Understanding how Clover's KextsToPatch feature works. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of documentation explaining how to use this feature correctly (not that I have been able to find anyway). There is a lot of information out there about what to use, and what to put into your config.plist, but not much as to how to find out why the values used are used, and how the "data" was obtained. This guide hopes to address that. I tried to update this information on the Wiki, but the authentication between Github and Google appears to be nonfunctional... or no longer open to the public. "Authentication failed Provider did not validate your credentials (invalid_credentials) - please retry or choose another login service" This Guide will hopefully help those of you (like me) who would like to know how (and why) to use a tool, and not just use it a certain way because you were told to. For now, this Guide will just be an expansion of the part of the Wiki page found here. KextsToPatch <key>KextsToPatch</key> <array> Aside from the patches already built-in to Clover, you also have the ability to create your own by using the following obtainable values: the Binary File Name, the Data to Find, and the Data to Replace. Both Data Values will need to be in the same format; either in hexadecimal (Property List Editor/Clover Configurator), or in base64 (plain text editor). The Data Value lengths MUST also be equal. A smaller replacement Data Value may be filled with zeroes. Fresco FL1009 USB 3.0 Device ID Patch (BTW: This patch is great for people who have a Gigabyte X79-UD5 Motherboard and want to resolve their USB issues with El Capitan 10.11. It enables the Fresco FL1009 USB 3.0 Controller as a Fresco FL1100 USB 3.0 Controller. Works Great! ) The following example shows a patch for AppleUSBXHCIPCI replacing the data <string>0x11001b73</string> with <string>0x10091b73</string>: <key>KextsToPatch</key> <array> <dict> <key>Comment</key> <string>Fresco FL1009 USB 3.0 Device ID Patch</string> <key>Name</key> <string>AppleUSBXHCIPCI</string> <key>Find</key> <data>PHN0cmluZz4weDExMDAxYjczPC9zdHJpbmc+</data> <key>Replace</key> <data>PHN0cmluZz4weDEwMDkxYjczPC9zdHJpbmc+</data> <key>InfoPlistPatch</key> <true/> </dict> </array> Note: the patch data is encoded in base64 due to the data type of the field. Viewed in Clover Configurator: Note: The config.plist uses a base64 value, while Clover Configurator shows you the TEXT (UTF-8) or HEX value. It is sometimes necessary to use a patch to modify a kext's Info.plist. In this case, the following Boolean Key needs to be added to the Patch's Dictionary Item: <dict> <key>InfoPlistPatch</key> <true/> </dict> Side note: Patches are applied in the kext cache. If you patch an Info.plist in order to enable the loading of a specific kext, which is not currently present in your cache, you will need to reboot twice: Once with the option NoCaches to allow FSInject to load the specific kext into the cache, and Then again for the cache to be patched successfully. 8. Umm...yeah...not at all helpful. Next time please read all the information included in a post. If you don't understand all the technical details included in a system build, or what was asked for, then please don't insult the OP by giving irrelevant n00b advice here. Oh, and please don't quote my entire long ass post in a reply. (Maybe you should edit yours.) Thanks.
  9. I have set up several Dell Latitude E6430 / E5430's, with different hard drive configurations, and all appear to have the same issue; the hard drive runs at a constant 118*-122* F. I've tried tweaking several settings, but nothing seems to help. The drive operates at a normal 80* F when booted to Windows or Ubuntu, so it's clearly not a BIOS / Hard Drive issue. And as I have already mentioned, this is consistent across several different systems. I haven't found any other reports of hard drive's overheating, but can't believe that I would be the only one. If you find that you also have this issue, please post a "Me Too" in the comments with as much information about your system as well. HWMonitor Screen Shot: Just to clear up some possible assumptions; I have been successfully building hackint0sh's for about 10 years. I have only recently started messing with Hackbook Pr0's (about 2 years). Initially I was using Chameleon, but decided to switch to Clover when I found Chameleon seemed to have trouble performing certain tasks (like patching the video output for Intel Graphics). While using Chameleon, I was actually manually patching the binary with the outputs of my system to get everything to work as it should (if you have no idea what I'm referring to, it doesn't really matter, so don't even worry about it). The problem with doing this was upgrading. Every time I needed to upgrade the OS, I would need to re-patch the updated kext. Such a pain! In finding that Clover did this rather simply, and that updates would no longer be an issue, I made the switch. Since using Clover, the main things I've had to fight with are; getting the trackpad (which works pretty well (with multi-touch)), bluetooth, and the battery percentage to function properly. But, addressing those things are issues for another time. Shortly after I switched to Clover, I found THIS VERY HELPFUL GUIDE (Thank You VERY MUCH pokenguyen!!!), and tweaked things from there. I probably have several hundred hours in tweaking, and researching, all the configuration settings/options in Clover itself. And although, I don't completely understand everything it can do, I know enough to get a system working as it should. I've just come to an end in trying to address this overheating hard drive issue, which seems to only exist in laptops. The one thing I have absolutely no understanding in, is DSDT...and maybe that's where my issues are. I really wished I understood the code within an aml file, but sadly, I do not. I am very good at learning how to take knowledge from someone else's experience and convert it to something I can apply to my own hardware, but aml files are beyond me. I'm going to post as much information as I can about the system(s) I am using, and would appreciate any suggestions/feedback on how to resolve this Hard Drive temperature issue. 10. UPDATED: 2011.03.22 for Snow Leopard 10.6.7 I searched everywhere to figure out how to get my Linksys EG1032 v3 Gigabit Network Adapter to work with Mac OS X Leopard, and since I finally figured out how to get it working, I thought I would share it with the rest of you. The Linksys EG1032 v3 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter has a Realtek RTL 8169S-32 chipset. What this means is that we can use the existing AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext in /S/L/E/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns and simply update the info.plist with the Device ID for your Linksys EG1032 v3 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter, and copy it directly to /S/L/E. If you want to skip all these steps and just download the kext I modified from 10.6.7, then please DL the attached zip AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext.zip, or with install script AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext.with.install.script.zip. To find out your Device ID (which should be 0x10321737 for this card) you will need to use DPICManager DPCIManager_02.zip. When you run DPICManager, you should see a line that looks like this: 1737:1032 Linksys Gigabit Network Adapter 1737:1032 means that your Device ID is 0x10321737. To edit the Info.plist may use your TextEdit.app, or use Property List Editor which is available free when you install Apple's Xcode. After installing Xcode, you will find Property List Editor in /Developer/Applications/Utilities. Copy the AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext from /S/L/E/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns to somewhere on your Mac. Now, right-click on the copied AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext and select Show Package Contents. Under the Contents directory, you will see Info.plist. If you right-click this, you may select Open With. To edit Info.plist with your Property List Editor: 1. Expand Root, IOKitPersonalities, & RTL8169/RTL8110 2. Add your Device ID (0x10321737) to IOPCIPrimaryMatch, which should now look like: 0x816910ec 0x816710ec 0x10321737 3. Save To edit Info.plist with your TextEdit.app: 1. Find the following code: <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0x816910ec 0x816710ec</string> 2. Replace with: <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0x816910ec 0x816710ec 0x10321737</string> 3. Save I would recommend installing AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext directly to /S/L/E. That way it should continue to load after using Apple Update until Apple changes something in the actual /S/L/E/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext. (Current version for 10.6.7 is 1887.) The easiest way to do this is to copy AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext to /S/L/E and then rebuild your kext cache. You can rebuild your kext cache by entering the following commands in Terminal. For 10.6.x sudo chown -R 0:0 /System/Library/Extensions/* sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/* sudo rm -Rf /System/Library/Caches/* sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions/ For 10.5.x sudo chown -R 0:0 /System/Library/Extensions/* sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/* sudo rm -Rf /System/Library/Extensions/Caches/* sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.* sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions/ NOTE: After successfully installing AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext, you may need to go to the "Network" section of your System Preferences and add the interface by using the + sign at the bottom of your listed interfaces. (However, it may recognize that you have a new adapter automatically.). I would also recommend removing any Ethernet interfaces that are invalid (do not have a MAC Address under "Advanced" -> "Ethernet"). If you use the kext I modified instead of creating your own, and your Network Card still isn't recognized, verify whether or not the Device ID of your card matches the one I listed above. If you have a different Device ID, you will need to modify the Info.plist with your cards Device ID. Kext: 10.6.7 AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext.zip Enjoy! 10.5.6 Released!

    I just have to say that I had a heck of a time upgrading to 10.5.6. I have a P5K Premium running vanilla. I used Kalyway 10.5.1 for my original install, and was on 10.5.5. I am using chameleon with pc_efi 9, and have patched DSDT. After the update, my system would not boot...it hung at itunes.phone.driver...something or another. I searched everywhere, and tried everything I could find with no avail. The Appleintelcpupowermanagement.kext was nowhere to be found, so I extracted it with Pacifist from Apples 10.5.5 Combo Update...which didn't resolve the issue either. I finally fixed my issue with help from joe75...THANKS joe75!!! I booted into single user mode (-s) at the bootloader. Entered write mode (/sbin/mount -uw /), and used kextload to load dsmos.kext (kextload dsmos.kext). Rebooted, and that was it! Then all I had to do was reload any kexts that were not already supported by OS X. Hope this helps anyone else having the same trouble. Enjoy!

    Plugins for Universal OSx86 Installer

    I don't know what to say ~pcwiz...I'm almost TOO excited!!! This tool is FREAKING AWESOME!!! And the manual is FANTASTIC!!! I just found your site within the last couple months and have been keeping an eye on it ever since...I must say, you've got me hooked! I think this (these) utility(es) will take the OSx86 community to new heights! I really appreciate every developer that has had a part in the progressive development of OSx86! Many have helped me personally, and (of course) have contributed to the code we all use! There are to many to name, but I applaud you all!!! The thing that I think is great about these tools is it takes the complexcity of the engineering behind the OSx86 development, and puts it into terms that anyone can understand and use! WELL DONE!!!
  13. Diehardjr, I had some trouble with this too. I'll bet your only problem is with the remove AppleIntelCpuPowerManagement.kext patch. Select the correct kernel for your CPU (SSE2 or SSE3), make sure you have the remove AppleIntelCpuPowerManagement.kext option checked, and you should be good to go.
  14. Hey UPHUCK, Thanks for the release! I loved your last one! I only decided to upgrade due to some of the features you included in this release...i.e. the "About This Mac" crash. I also upgraded because you included the Callisto drivers (which I need for my ATI X800 XT) so I didn't have to install them later... I just thought you would like to know neither of these worked for me...The "About This Mac" still crashes finder, and the Callisto drivers wouldn't let me change my resolution above 1024x768 (I was able to get this to change to 1600x1200 manually). I am not complaining by any means (I think your releases are the BEST!!! ) I just thought I would let you know. I installed using the following options: 10.4.9 for Intel CPU Intel SSE2 Kernel CPUPowerManagement Patch IOATA patch Callisto b008 drivers Almost all the Applications Here are my specs: DFI LANPARTY PRO 875B (Intel 875P Chipset, Intel 82875P Memory Controller Hub, Intel 82801ER I/O Controller Hub, 82547EI Gigabit LAN, Intel AGP version 3.0, ICH5R SATA IDE/RAID Interface) Intel P4 2.6Ghz HT 800FSB SSE2 1024MB DDR400 ATI AIW X800TX 8x AGP Seagate 160GB SATA Hard Drive Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks again!!!
  15. AWESOME uphuck! Just finished the download, and am in the current install process. I think you did a great job with this release. I only request would be to have an nfo that has all the details of the packages in it. I had to burn this with my MacBook Pro, couldn't get it to complete in Windows...wasted 4 DVD's (but they're cheap). Anyone that is wondering which release of OSx86 to get, I would probably recommend this one. I have done a lot of research, and this version seems to be the best choice. uphuck has taken the "best" from all the OSx86 project developers have been working on, and included it in one release. (i.e. JaS, tubagirl, etc.) Correct me if I am wrong on any of this uphuck... His 10.4.9 update is from Apple, so if you only have an sse2 (like me) you can still run it. Unlike having to have sse3 for the JaS 10.4.9 update release. If anyone is having trouble with the install not detecting a volume to install OSx86 on; make sure you use the disk utility to partition your drive. My OSx86 Box: DFI LANPARTY PRO 875B (Intel 875P Chipset, Intel 82875P Memory Controller Hub, Intel 82801ER I/O Controller Hub, 82547EI Gigabit LAN, Intel AGP version 3.0, ICH5R SATA IDE/RAID Interface) Intel P4 2.6Ghz HT 800FSB SSE2 1024MB DDR400 ATI AIW X800TX 8x AGP Seagate 160GB SATA Hard Drive ---------------------------- ----a little while later---- ---------------------------- I got it to install okay (no errors)...but it doesn't seem to boot...just hangs after "Boot from CD" and never leaves the screen post... I installed the 10.4.9 for Intel CPU Intel SSE2 Kernel And all the Applications I read several of your other posts uphuck, and saw that you recommended rebooting in verbose mode. I booted to the DVD, hit F8 and, entered "-v" and hit "enter". Same trouble... I also booted to the DVD, entered the terminal, entered "reboot /v" and hit "enter". Same trouble... If I boot to the disk, and do not "press any key", I get: System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found I also got this before I ran the install... ---------------------------- ----a little while later---- ---------------------------- So, I found part of the problem... When creating the partition, using the disk utility, you need to make sure you select "Master Boot Record" under "Options..." instead of "GUID Partition Table". Now the only problem I have is a big error right in the middle of the screen that says "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button." I get this right after Darwin starts to load, so maybe my system just isn't compatible. I'll try some of the different kernels to see if that helps. ----------------------------- ----a LONG while later---- ----------------------------- I GOT IT!!! After trying everthing and searching everywhere, I finally got it!!! I am probably going to make this its own post, but for now, it will be here. I tried installing every kernel compatible with my system, and still had the same trouble. Since my board has the Intel 875P Chipset I desiced to search for 875P on hackint0sh.org, forum.osxx86.info, and here. I found that pretty much everyone that had this chipset was having the same trouble (with the exception of a select few). I also found that most of these people where also using a SSE2 CPU. After I ran into a post that mentioned something about HPET (High Precision Event Timers) and another one that mentioned something about Power Management, I remembered seeing something of the like during the install. Sure enough, there it was..."Remove CPUPowerManagement kext. Its description says "This removes AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. This script is needed for some system. nophet, sse2, or amd cpu." This means if you DON'T have HPET, or DO have a SSE2 or an AMD CPU, you need this option...duh. So, I went back to my original install configuration making sure to add this option, and volia, my system booted right into OSx86...sound and everything. Oh, and by the way...Boot Camp doesn't work... Not unless someone knows how to bypass the firmware issue. (I'm sure it won't be long.) I just want to say again...WELL DONE UPHUCK!!! Hope this helps anyone else having trouble. Thanks!
