  1. USB problems

If anyone comes across this, the boot flag "-gux_defer_usb2" solved the problem. Its a USB3 problem
  2. USB problems

I followed the guide at : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293109-guide-dell-l421x-xps-14-late-2012-os-x-mavericks-109-installation/ Now my problem is that the usb doesn't work unless i have a usb item plugged into my laptop when it boots. the lights to the flash drives do not even turn on. It can't be a hardware problem because it works just fine if i have anything connected at boot up time. If an item is connected at boot up time, I can connect and disconnect usb items with no problem. But if i happen to boot into osx without a usb device connected, the whole usb interface is off i think. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it
  3. Trackpad works fine now. Now my problem is that the usb doesn't work unless i have a usb item plugged into my laptop when it boots. the lights to the flash drives do not even turn on. 4. ok i get passed kernel panic and can boot with no flags, but my physical button on my trackpad doesn't work when pressed and i had to remove the generic brightness kext to stop kp
  5. Looks like I got a kernel panic from the generic brightness kext
  6. will i be able to dual boot with this install? I am looking to install windows 8.1 as well
  7. do you know if this will work on a Dell XPS 14 Ultrabook without the graphics card and an intel core i5 3317U?
  8. the problem isnt about making the install usb, its about initializing the installer.
  9. i just attempted the myhack method and still gets stuck at that same spot and displays "still waiting for root device"
  10. ok, i dropped this project a while back but i dont like to quit so im back to give it another try. I never deleted my install usb i made a while back so i tried the fakesmc kext thats posted above and now i actually see a line where it says it was initialized but i am still getting the "still waiting for root device" error I tried various boot flags and no luck. it gets stuck after it prints out the line that says com.AppleCompressionTypeZlib load succeeded or something like that if anyone has had any success with this laptop, please reply and inform me what i am doing wrong or how you did it.thank you
  11. can anyone point to a good fake smc that worked for their dell laptop?
  12. I've tried 3 different FakeSMC kexts and neither of them seem to load when i read the script when running in -v -f GraphicsEnabler=No. I added IntelCPUMonitor kext and that one loads fine.i don't know why its not initialising fakesmc
  13. Hello, and thank you for your response. I tried what you suggested and im still receiving the same error. one thing i did notice though, was that after it loaded all the files, it initialixed the nullcpupower kext, but i didnt see any line where it initialized the fakesmc kext. on other attempts, ive seen it load that kext but now it isnt and it is in S/L/E folder
  14. I've updated the initial post so if someone new comes into the topic, they'll be informed of the status of the topic. If anyone can help, please do so.thank you
  15. ive tried booting with combinations of different boot flags like -v, -f, GraphicsEnabler=Yes/No, PciRoot=1, npci=0x3000, -x still no luck This is the guide i followed. maybe something from here is not suitable for my system? http://www.insanelym...in lion guide [EDIT]: I retried the whole guide again and still no luck, i then applied this patch, but the problem persists http://blog.yerkanian.com/2012/09/20/updated-fix-for-still-waiting-for-root-device-on-os-x-10-8-2-mountain-lion/
