VMWare help..OS X 10.9.5

Okay thanks for that, it's annoying me because originally I wanted to have Mavericks for Xcode then after that i realised I need the latest update and that's where I am getting stuck. The update I'm doing is the combo update and I have been backing things up like the kernel before hand then doing the update and then adding them back in. Maybe just a few extra lines of code I can backup the system.kext and others and add them back in as well. I will try to find the steps I used for this and show them to you to see if it would work for this as well. Again thanks for your help, your awesome.

VMWare help..OS X 10.9.5

That is what I did, I removed the old Kexts for S/L/E and then added the new ones after that I repaired the permissions for the VMDK using disk utilities. So in theory the only thing I have done wrong is mounting the original OS X VMDK rather than the snapshots? Well I think I will just create a new vm install the combo update then when it shows the error mount it into the "maintenance" vm and then rollback the Kexts. Because I haven't made any snapshots the CID problem should be no longer.

VMWare help..OS X 10.9.5

Thanks for clearing that up, I have worked with snapshots before but it's been interesting reading about them a little more in depth. The clone thing is also very clever, I like it Okay so to clear up what I mean in my last question. I created a new VM which is now my "working maintenance vm" so to call it. Then from there I added another drive which was the VMDK from the first one that I had upgraded. Here is where I think I went wrong, I mounted the OS X.vmdk rather than the OS X-000001.vmdk. So because I edited the parent and the child hadn't been touched there CID's no longer match. When I try to boot it gives me an error. Just another quick question when installing a kext for example, system.kext which I need to roll-back, does it automatically overwrite the already installed one? Thanks

VMWare help..OS X 10.9.5

Does rolling back of a kext simple mean replacing it with a previous version and then repairing permissions? This is what I have done and the permissions are now repairing, once that is done I will post back and let you know how I got on.

VMWare help..OS X 10.9.5

I am just setting up my VM now that will become my "Support" VM as you mentioned. Is there any paticular software that you would recommend to Roll-back the kext?

VMWare help..OS X 10.9.5

Okay I understand what you are getting at. Basically create a new vm, mount the disk from the original vm. Rollback the kext using the kext manager I've seen around and then unmount it, shutdown, start the original vm and all shall be happy... I will try this on Thursday.. Thanks for the help. JVene.

VMWare help..OS X 10.9.5

Hi, I installed OS X 10.9 to a virtual machine which worked fine and everything was great, then I installed the combo update to 10.9.5... I first backed up extensions and the kernel then reinstated them after the update, otherwise the kernel had problems. However now I have another problem, like in the picture.. There is a fix but it requires a rollback on 2 Kexts.. How do I rollback I kext if I can't boot into OS X?

Strange thing happening

Hi Guys, Need some help here. My build is in my signature if you need to refer to that to help me. Basically I used one of Niresh Kexts for my Wifi Card... Airport now works fine and I can connect to my Home Wifi. The problem now is that when i try to go to a webpage, it loads to about a quarter of the way and stops loading. Also when I went to network diagnostics it shows connected but at the side Server and Internet are changing from green to red every 30 seconds or so. Its very strange, Im not sure what is going on. Extra help if you can... Can someone help me out with a graphics kext for the built in graphics on my AMD A8 APU?
13. Hi there guys, I could do with some help with Kexts and other things, I used Nawcoms ModCd to install Snow Leopard. I had to use bootflags (arch=i386 or -force64, npci=0x2000, cpus=4 busratio=17) I have to use these boot flags to boot into the installed windows, I also have to boot with the CD in (Maybe something wrong with chameleon but booting just shows apple logo if I use boot flag it goes to black screen). The only way I could get this to boot after installation was unticking (graphicsenabler, sound, wired and wireless network). So now I need to install the correct ones, maybe starting with WIFI. I have downloaded ##### boot a guide on how to use this and also how to install kexts would help me greatly . Thanks guys.

Nawcoms ModCd + Retail

Hi There, So here goes, I got installation completed using this method: Put in ModCd and USB (with retail on) >>> Boot into the modcd >>> Went over the mac osx installer >>> typed (arch=i386 busratio=17 cpus=1 npci=0x2000 rd(0,0)/Extra/modbin_kernel -v) I have tried lots of others but this is the only on that worked. Now im in OSX retail installation >>> Format hard drive >>> Clicked customized (Any help on what to tick here would be great) I took a guess at what to tick >>> rebooted. The next part im unsure of, do I leave the modcd in and type boot flags over the OSX or do I take the disk out and try flags in chameleon over the OSX? 1) Leaving the modcd in. Tried many different combinations of flags and I get mainly 2 kernel panics. i) Stops at minit (64mb.... ii) Double panic (CPU,0)..... 2) Take modcd out. No flags gives me apple logo and stops. i) Kernel panic showing a kext? (Maybe this is the issue?) ii) Plain black screen. (Monitor is on as I can see the back light) Somebody please help me, I feel like I am so close. Thanks Scott.

Tried Booting to Install

Thanks for them links but they all seem to be talking about lion and somewhere inside them people mention Snow Leopard working flawlessly so I would be quite happy with that. Im not being lazy asking for lots of links, I know I can look myself. Im just asking what would be the best distro and version of osx for my machine. Thanks
