    [GUIDE]AMD ATHLON X2 x6 with Mavericks (10.9.1)

ACK! Three failures for Yosemite, cant guarantee support in Mavericks. Its geting hard to find images that work. I have a CrosshairV in one system, use a Samsung w AMD APU in another (laptop) and the third is an Acer POS AMD APU from WalMart. Video cards vary. The tower has 2xHD7850 Radeons. I either get the following: 1) stuck at boot spinner loading text and zero boot loaded(Tower) 2) graphical boot options but kernel reboots on load (laptop with external HDD written to, then inserted as master HD) --no option to specify settings, must use preselected options 3) bootloader works in text mode but kernel reboots on load I cant get around the kernel reboots.Ive tried every option I can think of. (GraphicsEnabler=No UseKernelCache=No PciRoot=1 -v -f -x) This issue has persisted since the initial so called AMD releases from Leopard/Snow Leopard. Ive only gotten the Intel builds to work in the past.(GNT945 mobo and 3+Ghz CPU) Id like to figure out where the kernel loading issue is coming from. What makes this more complex is the laptop wont boot USB devices and the Tower doesnt like UEFI partitions on hard drives.ASUS wont fix the UEFI issue.

    [GUIDE]AMD ATHLON X2 x6 with Mavericks (10.9.1)

Redit says this is for the 990fx series like the crosshairV....an excellent board if not for the UEFI Linux boot problems it presents. (You go ahead and TRY Debian or Fedora, you...)So has anyone done it with the 990fx? This tut wasnt written with one. It would be nice for screaming systems like mine(9590) to bring OSX to the table with 10.9.Glad someone finally got around to an updated tut, AMD has been lacking one since people decided to boot vanilla installer discs on Intel hardware. I have one issue though....cant you make the usb image into a DL DVD?It would be great if someone could repack an ISO image.Weve needed one for years.Sort of has a chicken and egg problem otherwise.Suppose you could make a HFS on a USB stick via Linux though....might need to franken copy the rest of the files over that the installer uses to prep the USB stick...I love my hackintosh and the early AMD ISOs showed promise but boards have changed much since.AMD no longer uses ICH controllers.

    Acer Emachines AMD E-350

I have this from the WAL-MART special (ACER EMACHINE E-300), but not sure what to do with it. When I dumped my ACER 532h, I was able to res-edit with the MAC version of DSDT tools, but it mostly crashed the OS with the falling curtain when I did that. So recompiling Im not so sure about stability on. Looking for Lion but I am able to install and boot into Leopard no issue. LION may take some work, but shows promise. Im on framebuffer and my USB stick is windows only, but the Internal (lists as Intel but MacOS/Linux sees a RTL8111 series) LAN should work. I have no cable at moment to connect the machine to in order to find out. So we have sound at the moment, rear jacks only, possibly LAN(no connect). Video is a ATI HD6310, so waiting on newer drivers. Not sure if DSDT would help at this point. dsdt.zip
  4. its npci 2000 on LION, 3000 is for snow. CONFIRMED working, well somewhat on that WALMART emachine 350APU. Its a 350 not a 300 as advertised. I used GraphicEnabled=no and npci=0x2000 and I got the installer to load. Where Im stuck now is hdd free space, even on erased drive still reports insufficient.
  5. For your iHac pleasure. I am proud to announce the emachine on sale(WALMART) as a 4GB system with 500GB HDD is a successful hack. Attached is the image of proof. Ok, so I bet your wondering how I did this. 1) AQUIRE iDeneb 1.5 AKA OSX 10.5.7(go get it elsewhere, somehow) 2) Install as following: (Drivers) ATIIXP (REQUIRED) [This is your SATA controller onboard.] SATAFIX/ICH10FIX ALL sound ALC/Realtek Audio codecs(not sure which it uses, quite frankly dont care. This flood method seems to work.) SiS/VIA support(last option, not the USB option) BIOS800 in ACPI menu Kernel: 970 works, I checked all three. LAN: (works, no router hard wired to confirm) LAN onboard is modified REALTEK/ INTEL PRO chipset. (1389 I think) I batch select LAN and WIFI just in case. Check REALTEK/INTEL/ZYDAS anyways(fixes some cards) Wifi: Check REALTEK/INTEL/ZYDAS anyways(fixes some cards) I grabbed NETGEAR somehow but the stick Im using is unsupported(update for mac fixes this?) Video: SELECT Nothing (EFI in CHameleon catches the framebuffer, no actual driver yet) (reverse/recompile Ubuntu's Catalyst driver? There is a dated 2.4.4 mac catalyst driver out there.) DO NOT CHOOSE GUID partition map, ensure it is MBR. Will work in a patched SNOW installer to fix, either I will or someone SHOULD. THe following edits to boot.com.apple.plist may help: busratio=8 GraphicsEnabler=Yes "GraphicsMode"="1366x768x32" (yeah, I got the 19" wide AOC screen special too while at same WalMart.) Everything works WELL OOB except LAN/WIFI, as noted above. I have a known WIN only stick(WNDA3100) and no direct LAN connection to route at the moment.(dont go to best buy for this card if you can help it, get a real working NIC and CISCO blue box router instead from newegg.) Im on USB Logitech mouse /keyboard so I dont know about the PS/2 checkbox. I didnt check any of this. I have DSDT dump for those that need it.(cant upload?) hacked.tiff

    Catalyzing change

Anyone tried reversing the linux catalyst driver for ubuntu yet? May provide natit-like across board injectable support if we did.

    Realtek 8169

google for nawcom. There is a dated driver for LEO and SNOW.
