  1. ATi Radeon 4870 512 MB RAM CI/QE Finally Working !

Wouldn't today's upgrade to the Mac Pro (which adds the option of a 4870) mean that, after updating to 10.5.7, you could simply use EFI strings?
  2. Hey G5, thanks for the reminder. I've just started getting my hands dirty with the Boot-132 guide page and I'll try to stick with it (expanding it, giving it more explanations, etc.) Could Macita (or anyone else for that matter) post the list of kexts that are needed to boot on this board? I'll try to organize them as required and optional (ie: PS2, Jmicron, etc.).
  3. ATI Radeon HD pkg installers 10.5.x & 10.6

Just read a bit at Guru3D and it seems all xx50 are pro. I thought I was onto something, but I have no idea what I'm talking about.
  4. ATI Radeon HD pkg installers 10.5.x & 10.6

Which chip is it? RV670 or RV670pro?
  5. ATI Radeon HD pkg installers 10.5.x & 10.6

The 48xx series are not yet supported. Keep an eye at netkas.org for updates.
  6. Found the problem: I forgot one special step 7) cp boot-turbo-munky.bin /Volumes/EFI/boot The system is booting now. Thanks a lot! Is a kext inside a mkext the same as the original kext? What I mean is, if I take the kexts from Macita's Boot-132 CD (which has only one mkext inside of initrd) are those kexts as good as the originals or reduced/compressed versions?
  7. ATI Radeon HD pkg installers 10.5.x & 10.6

I have a HD3850 and I'm wondering if it matters if it has a RV670 or a RV670pro. I fear the answer is 'yes', but, nonetheless. I've been breaking my head to try to get my Sapphire HD3850 1GB working and no success so far. Further looking into the lspci I realized that my card has a RV670pro
  8. Munky, thanks for the great guide and, most of all, the walk-through of how it works and it all means. Thanks to all the others who keep on helping out (yes, you BladeRunner ). I've followed the guide and am able to install Leopard without an issue, but I can't boot it up. I got stuck on boot1: startupfile (pic below - thanks to Mr. BlurryCam). Any ideas on what could be happening here? My board is a P5W DH and I'm using BIOS settings and Boot-132 disk following Macita's guide. I can boot back into Leo using the Boot-132 CD. As it was my first try I did not add any kexts on the Extensions/ folder - could this be the root of the problem? Should I copy all the Extensions that I use for the Boot-132 CD to the EFI partition?
  9. hnorbi, mitch, I have a 3850 and I have been struggling to get it going, too. I finally got it running with iAtkos v4. It says QE is supported and it seems to recognize all of the RAM, but there are some artifacts on the screen. I hope this helps. My card is a Sapphire HD3850 1 GB.
  10. What about the new ATI HD4850 ?

Ah, no, apologies. I was thinking about just getting the video card working. No, I did not try with 1920x1200. Sorry, I mistook the thread.
  11. What about the new ATI HD4850 ?

It does work quite nicely. The only problem, however, it seems that my card's fan is running at full speed all the time.
  12. Macita, thanks for maintaining this thread. Another happy P5W user here. I'm interested in the Boot-132 + Chameleon business. I've read the news thread (linked above), the Karakeeha1 thread, and a few others on installation, Chameleon, and Boot-132. I've got a couple of questions. Do I need Boot-132? I explain. I have two harddrives, let's call them 'Old' and 'New'. On Old I already have a working Kaly installation running. I'm hoping to get a vanilla installation running on New. Could I do the following: boot Old format New install Chameleon on New install vanilla Mac OS X on New remove/install proper P5W kext reboot Shouldn't that work?
  13. EFiX: OSx86 gone commercial?

I'm really interested in this whole sabotage story. Their website now lists 'complete systems', too. I guess Psystar was not gonna be alone for too long in this market.
  14. I don't know exactly why I found this amusing, but, Swad, you're quoted on their webpage.
  15. iATKOS v1.0i Released

    Thanks, Uphuck + Eskurza!!
