  1. Hey there, I just wanted to check some things. I am about to get a z570 off a friend and am just preparing to get this done as quickly as possible. 1. Will you be trying iatkos on there? 2. Is this the guide you modified to work with ML? (http://www.insanelym...howtopic=274770) Found your other tut (http://www.insanelym...pic=272681&st=0 ) 3. If ^ is the guide you used, I presume you replaced your Wifi card to get it to work out of the box? Answered in linked tut 4. As an ex-macbook owner, I am in love with the trackpad especially for 4-finger swiping between full screen apps. How well does the trackpad work on this build and how many fingers can be sensed? 5. Have you done any stress testing? Any clue what the geekbench score is? Saw your picture (http://i.imgur.com/Z07EC.jpg ) 6. Getting into the nitty gritty, do function keys work to change lcd brightness, keyboard brightness, and volume? 7. Not sure if all z570's have the Nvidia GT-540M (which doesn't seem to have any OSX86 support), but are there any precautions you have to take to keep the system on intel 3000 graphics? 8. I haven't heard any mention of isight compatibility with the webcam, does it work with bundled software? skype? Thanks for the awesome information you're already provided! I am excited to finally return to OS X on my primary system.
  2. I think that as Apple's problems regarding this matter grow, including the OSX86 community and Psystar, it will urge Apple to release the OS to PC's. With the upcoming release of Snow Leopard being an Intel only 64-bit release, it is possible that Apple will release the system to PC's. It is also possible because Apple's neglect regarding the OSX86 could mean that they are using the resources available such as the boot loaders and many open kexts. Most of my post is speculation and speculation only, but Apple will be pushed to release its OS to PC's in its upcoming release. The release is imminent. Buyer's of Apple Hardware will most likely continue to buy the hardware because of its elegant design and superb functionality, but there would be many people who would take a plunge into the mac world if OS X was available for their PC's. If OS X were to be released to PC's, there would be a spike in Mac application sales and production, eventually giving more profits to Apple. It is unseen territory; it is something that Apple will eventually have to do.

I'll try to use iPartition to merger the two partitions.... that seems like the best choice, thanks for the good idea

    Target Disk Mode DVD

Any chance of making a "live" DVD that starts up in Target disk mode? Is that even possible?

    Target Disk Mode

Now that EFI has been resolved, is there any progress to come with enabling target disk mode? I would love to use my hackintosh as an external DVD drive to install Leopard on my ibook... If anyone knows how to do that, or has news on TDM, post please!

    Suggest a good release

Please post any suggested install methods/disks for any of the following PC's. I have had some success in the past thanks to this forum, but none of my installs have been working recently: PC 1: Celeron D 320 2.4ghz [sSE3] 845gv-m3 motherboard [845gv chipset] 512mb RAM IDE hard drive Past worked installs on this PC : JAS 10.4.8 SSE3 Intel Only, Kalyway 10.4.10 SSE3 HPET ( what does HPET mean anyway?), KalyWay 10.5 9a527 SSE3 HPET PC 2: Pentium 4 2.66ghz [sSE2] p4v8x-mx motherboard [ VIA P4M800] 1 gb RAM SATA hard drive No past intalls have even booted, as soon as the CD boots and I choose the startup options, the CD loads few files and restarts. I know this is due to some BIOS setting or another, but I haven't figured out what. PC 3: Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4ghz [sSE3 , HCL says that it works with Vanilla] ECS 671t-m [siS® 671 & 968 ___ South Bridge: SiS 968,North Bridge: SiS® 671] 2gb RAM IDE hard drive have only tried Kalyway10.5.1 DVD with "/com.boot.plist missing" or something error on boot from hard drive. No Previous Disk has booted up, I get a restart problem again. Those are my only viable options and therefore please suggest anything you can regarding any of this hardware. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the quick reply, but I must remind you, PowerPC Macs don't have the capability to boot from USB.

  10. my situation is as follows: I have an ibook g4 that does not have a dvd drive and I'm trying to install retail Leopard onto it using an image I have. The following options are unavailable to me: external firewire anything another mac to create a netboot server or target disk mode (although it is possible for me to create a hackintosh with MANY hours of work-this is not preferred) A large internal hard drive to partition and use as the install location ( I CAN do this but, if I do this, I will have 2 partitions on the drive, one being 20gb and other 10gb - the drive is only 30 gb and it is a pain to have to use 2 separate partitions on such a small drive- also not preferred) Possibility(unsure) : Is there any way for me to insert the dvd into a windows computer and mount the drive onto my mac at boot? Also, is there any feasible way to create a netboot server on windows? What are all the possible ways for me to install leopard without an internal DVD drive that is available to me? Thanks to anyone who would like to respond.
