  1. Installing from a real Mac

Quite right the spelling is correct...I keep a vanilla copy of the kernel that isn't modified so, I can use it later if needed. Giving the other boot CD a shot
  2. I installed Snow Leopard using an external hard drive connected to my MacBook. After the install via the OSInstall.mpkg. After I completed the install I patched the drive with 10.6.5 combo update. The PC I'm trying to install to requires the ATOM proc patch so, I replaced the mach_kernel with the modified version from teateam as follows: 1. Download zip to Desktop 2. Unzip by double click 3. Open Terminal.app 4. sudo -s 5. Enter your root password 6. cd /Volumes/OSX/ <-this is the mounted drive not the one from my macbook 7. mv mach_kernel mach_kernel_1065_vanilla 8. cp ~/Desktop/mach_kernel_atom /Volumes/OSX 9. chown 0:0 mach_kernel Installed Chameleon RC5 to the mounted drive. Using this patch http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=231075 Next I reinstalled the drive in my hackintosh and tried to boot. I just got a blinking cursor. So, I tried to boot from my nawcom Mod CD and I saw alot of lines like this: can't create kext cache under / - owner not root I think it is caused by installing from another system but, I don't know how to fix it and the welcome screen comes up but, without keyboard or mouse I.E. USB isn't working. Is this a permissions issue and if so, how do I fix it? I had previously installed from a external CD drive and everything worked but, I ran into issues patching 10.6.5 atom support and had to wipe / reinstall. Any assistance going forward would be great. My system is a Zotac Mag with 4 gb ram I have replaced the wireless card with one that I know is OSX compatible. Thanks for the advice.
  3. I got further than before...using cpu=2 and USBBusFix=Yes. Now I'm pretty sure I'm locking up about the time the video card is being setup. Anyone know exactly what version of Chem boot disk I am supposed to be using? What boot options I'm supposed to pass at installation time? The bios settings for installation? I have been told H/T off, but the tutorial says H/T on. If someone would be kind enough to list the settings in order that would be great. 1. Download this version of chameleon boot loader 2. I tried booting with EMPIRE-EFI is there a different one I'm supposed to use? 3. Installation BIOS settings? AHCI? USB settings? video settings? ACPI? 4. What patch do I make to the Snow Leopard or do I patch the boot cd? or do I install SnowLeo to the hard drive from a real mac then patch it some how then boot to it? 5. Boot flags required for installation or boot? Sorry things were a little unclear to me. FYI I'm using a Zotac MAG 330 Thanks

  5. driver for GTX 285

I managed to get the GTX 285 to work it involved using PC EFI 10.6. I had to install with another card then drop PC-EFI into the root of the drive. Let me know if you are still trying to figure it out or need help.
  6. I couldn't get this walk through to work with Snow Leopard 10.6 or 10.6 server. I get a kernal panic trying to boot to the retail DVD something about CPUs being reported as 1 and supposed to be 2 or something and I installed it to an external USB drive using my iMac then followed the tutorial. Then I get a msg about guid and it won't continue booting. Not sure what exacly is the issue. If anyone knows let me know. Zotac MAG 330
  7. Worked for sound on MSI X58 Platinum. Haven't check input or 5.1 yet.

Hello, Just a question about this...I currently have a MSI rs482m4 botherboard and am trying to install osx 10.4.7. I have 2 SATA drives installed. When it boots into the installer no drives are listed in the system profiler. I'm just wondering how you would go about performing this at the time of install since I can't get it installed without performing this hack. My system specs are: MSI RS482M4-ILD ATI SB450 CHIPSET ATHLON 4400 X2 2 GB RAM NVIDIA 7800GTX 2x250gb hd If I need another version of osx let me know.
