@tluck Zero errors in /logs Oddly I have another issue that may be ACPI related in that the delay between the apple logo and progress bar starting is 5 seconds on AC but 16 seconds on battery. Wonder if this has something to do with the reboot fault? Good shout with the ACPI debug tools, I'll get them installed.

Got a strange problem with my W520 on 10.12.6 If its on battery power and shut down, I get the occasional reboot as if the power button has been pressed. Problem doesnt occur on AC power. I dont have any USB devices attached, no WOL etc. The only differences from a stock W520 are an FL1100 USB Expresscard (supported natively) and 60Y3305 Bluetooth 4.0 daughtercard. My WiFi card is Dell DW1515 which has been rebranded in Linux. What monitoring software would best capture this event occuring? Thanks avdo
  4. Hello all, I'm stuck and not sure how to tackle disabling my discrete Nvidia Quadro card. A quick search of my disassembled ACPI tables show that their is only 1 SSDT related to GPU but has no methods to disable card. DSDT has _INI , _OFF, and _PS3. I have no idea what the correct way I have included extracted ACPI tables, Kextstat & Kextcache Terminal Outputs and IOregistryExplorer snapshot & /EFI/Clover folder. My DSDT has been patched & everything is working well. I only need to be able to disable Nvidia to have 100% working system for me as it's a pain to re-enable Nvidia in BIOS when dual booting to Win7. Any advice would be greatly, greatly appreciated. EDIT: Finally got this sorted with some clarification from Rehabman (thanks!). Scope (_SB) { Method (_INI, 0, NotSerialized) // _INI: Initialize { ^PCI0.PEG.GFX0._DSM (ToUUID ("a486d8f8-0bda-471b-a72b-6042a6b5bee0"), 0x0100, 0x1A, Buffer (0x04) { 0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x03 }) If (One) { ^PCI0.PEG.GFX0._PS3 () } Sweet thermals and quadro functional when booting into Win7. Result.

@Marco1984 My W520 will do the same if I don't select "load default settings" first before changing graphics device. Try that and reboot then check if settings have stuck.

@law Thats a really old card. Only wireless g according to the data sheet. For the sake of around £6 I'd be throwing that away and putting in a DW1510. I have no experience with the NVS4200 as my T420 is Hd3000 only so can't help you with a discrete setup. I myself have reverted to HD3000 on my W520 as I couldn't get the Quadro 100% in Sierra. If you want to go with Hd3000 let me know and I'll take a look at the DSDT. If your dead set on Nvidia, some pointers would be: Hd3000 disabled in DSDT Macbook 9,1 Smbios and generated Board Id etc Fakesmc keys tweaked from mac mini to 9,1 huron-river Try Installing Nvidiagraphicsfixup.Kext (fixed the black screen at login.) Install with nvidia_drv=1 in boot flags to install Download Nvidia Web drivers and install Edit Clover config.plist to include Nvidia Web = true, dont use nvidia_drv=1 any more

Not yet. Artifacts on screen? Even on Sierra I had some graphics glitches with 1000m. In the end I put it down purely to the Nvidia Web driver. System profiler was displaying dgpu properly as Nvidia Quadro 1000m 2gb.

Ignore kernel cache. Looking back at what you originally posted I'd missed that the WiFi you had replaced was the stock Intel card so I assume you haven't had working WiFi. I'll also assume that you have flashed a custom BIOS to remove the whitelist? No direct experience with the Atheros card but after a quick read up the simplest way seems to be to get clover to patch the DSDT on the fly unless your comfortable with editing your own DSDT with Maciasl. You'll also need to inject your device and vendor id's into the appropriate kext(s) : Device ID = 002b Vendor ID = 168c See here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/316639-atheros-ar9285-in-el-capitan-10116/ PS Maybe a bit late now but a Dell DW1510 card would have been a much better option for you as it's plug and play, dirt cheap secondhand and doesn't require any messing around with.

Never tried with NVS4200m but performance-wise it's only like a 20% improvement over Hd3000 (IIRC) therefore not really worth the hassle. Clover / Options / Boot Args: Press return Type -f Press return Start the system

@Lawmanwilly, I take it your attempting to run it with Nvidia discrete graphics? If so a Mac Pro 8,1 system definition is not what you want for starters. Have you patched your own DSDT or are you using the one in the zip file? I can help you with a discrete graphics install but you'll need to do the following: Post a zip file of acpi dump obtained by pressing F4 at clover menu. Files are saved to Clover/Acpi/Origin folder. I need to know the model number of the T520 as well

It does appear to be an issue with the latest Clover. Exact same problems this afternoon with a clean install to a new SSD. Rolling back the bundle to your previous one sorts it out

So your trying to install Sierra with the current zip file? Is it a T420? Edit: no worries, glad you got it working!

@Kokzreh Do you have Vmware Fusion installed? Installed any software prior to the kernel panic?

Thanks Tluck. A new US keyboard arrived today, a fabled NMB version ( I prefer the Lite-on actually) and its still doing it but it's a little easier to get it to reverse but this keyboard needs a fast double click. Weird......

Am I the only one still experiencing erratic Caps Lock behaviour on 10.12.6? Same kext pack installed on W520, T420 & X220 and all exhibiting the exact same behaviour. All 3 keyboards are UK LITEON versions. Press once - caps on (LED on) Press again - caps off Press again - caps off ( LED on) Press again - caps on Slow double click - reverses operation 25% of the time Fast double click - no effect driving me nuts.........
