  1. I updated my Sierra hackintosh tonight and graphics broke again. Build 16G1918 is not compatible. :grumble: Edit: For giggles I chatted with support at Nvidia and they informed me that they do not have a fix and that I need to roll back my upgrade. When I asked how long for an update to be released for the driver the reply was "we cannot comment on that." Edit2: Nvidia just put out updated drivers for 16G1918. I don't have a link, but they installed via Preference Pane.

    Asus 4870 and Dual displays

Well doesn't that suck. Is this something Mac Pros are facing too? If Apple fixes it I'd love. As it is now I just can't leave this second monitor connected. This lag is unbearable.

    Asus 4870 and Dual displays

So going through the threads in search for my situation I've not seen anything that speaks to my issue directly. I'm looking to run dual displays on my hack and my graphics card has been great until adding the second display. Is running a dual display system that challenging for a hack? The Asus EAH4870 DK 1G works awesome for a normal card with the exception of some odd artifacting in Aperture on occasion. How ever, since adding my second display my mouse seems less responsive. It stutters and isn't anywhere near as responsive as it used to be. Is this a common problem or am I in this one alone? I booted into Win7 and it is great there. No issue at all so we know the card is physically good. Is there something I can do to fix this? Is there another card that's going to work with dual monitors and be near this quality? I'd be OK with buying a new graphics card since I have to get one for an HTPC I'm building. I'll move this card over to it and replace it with a more functional card. Forgot: 10.6.2, i7 920, 4870, 6GB
  4. Anyone yet, maybe? Now I have no sound. There is no output device in the System Pref Pane for Sound.

Does anyone else the irony of a "noob" helping a "guru"?
  6. This is running on an Intel DX58SO motherboard with i7 920 and Asus 4870 graphics. I have sounds, but Core Audio isn't supported. When I attempt to edit a file in GarageBand I get an error that the selected driver is missing. then when I attempt to listen to a track segment I get an error stating Core Audio is missing. Got any tips? I've tried VooDooHDA but it isn't working. In fact, when ever I drop it into the S/L/Extensions folder I get a notice that it isn't a valid kext.

So I found this thread and it talks about making the same changes I have. The problem is the system doesn't boot. Is it because I installed a different "boot" file during the SL install? Is this something Chameleon RC3 can correct? Or am I just missing something really easy?

For the sake of clarity, Y partition should be the main partition and not the EFI partition right? Also, my com.apple.Boot.plist located in the Extra folder for .Cameleon only has this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> </dict> </plist> So where should I put the new string? I haven't made this kind of change before.

Well, when I get my system completed I'll be posting a guide for the sake of those using my same motherboard and I'll be sure to give you full credit and even a link back. I just got my ethernet and audio working. Audio is a little funny though, System Profiler doesn't see and audio device but I am certainly hearing sounds. Next up is the sleep thing. I'll try the kext in dustintinsley's thread. I just noticed that you have it in your original post too. :\ kinda funny....sort of. Well, I can assure you that I won't be taking any credit for what I post. I'm not even going to list all the other people in the community because I didn't get their help, only yours!

To be sure, when I find a kext that I need all I have to do is add it to the EFI partition right? Just like I did in the initial set up?

So I'm very happy with the speeds I'm getting but found the bugs I need to work out and maybe some that aren't actually bugs. My ethernet controller isn't seen by SL and I haven't found a method to get it working (Intel 82567LM-2). I have another NIC that I tired but haven't found info on either (Intel PWLA8391GT). Getting the first to work on my board is optimal since it's the integrated controller and I wouldn't have to use another PCI slot just for my network connection. Audio isn't present. (00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller) CPUs in Activity Monitor only shows 1 active core but system info shows 1 CPU with 4 cores. On my MB, Activity Monitor actually shows a set of bars for each core. Is this a bug or normal? Is there a way for me to test which cores are doing what? Since I used the hidden EFI and Chameleon loader option, is there a way to allow Chameleon to auto select the default OS after something like 10 seconds if no other choice is made?

I am booting up and looking good. The only bug to work out so far is my ethernet adapter. Intel 82567LM-2. Someone else posted on the forum for help but I havn't seen anything else about it. Graphics seem fine too. Thank you for everything so far!
