  1. Hello,

I'm trying to install OS X 10.11.1 El Capitan on my build (MSI Z97 PC MATE, i3-4170, GTX 650), but every time I try to install it, it would give me the error (in the title) during the installation. I've tried many different things, including creating the USB installer from a legit Mac, starting up with -no-zp, Safe Mode (-x), and UseKernelCache=No, to installing to the SSD from a different Hackintosh using the same USB Flash Drive. Additionally, I tried replacing VBoxHfs-64.efi with HFSPlus.efi, which didn't do anything.

Please, if you can, tell me if there's any other thing I should try, because I spent the whole night trying to fix this error, with no luck.

I already looked at all the threads regarding this problem, or related to this problem. ALL OF THEM are NOT solving the problem at all. And to make matters worse, NOBODY is replying to me with relevant information. All I get is references to other posts, which I have already looked at.

    Thanks,

    Hey Andrew1,

How many memory modules do you have?

I came across the exact problem on a MacBook Pro with new memory modules were installed. Each time I tried to install Mac OS X the result was the same no matter how I created the USB disk. The error was because of a faulty memory module so I replaced the memories with a new pair and only then I was able to install Mac OS X.

So if you have more than one memory module try removing all but one of them and see if you can get passed the error, if the error still occurred change the memory module and try again and if it happened again try with some new memory modules if it's possible.

  2. I have the gaming 7 and it works flawless except for the sound.  With voodooHDA no matter what I try you cannot control the volume.  I do wonder if something could be done with creatives software for the recon 3di as they have support for it for mac as a USB device.  For now I am using a USB dac anyways.

Have you tried putting "VoodooHdaSettingsLoader" which is placed in your application folder, under System Preferences>Users & Groups>Login Items?

  3. Is there any reason why the gaming 7 motherboard wouldn't work as well as the gaming 5?

As far as I know there are some differences between Gaming 5 and Gaming 7 which are in Memory support, HDMI 2.0, ASMedia® ASM1061 Controller, etc...

You can see the whole comparison in here:

At first when my attempts failed to install El Capitan on my new Skylake computer I took a shot at good old Yosemite and find out that all my USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports are working. I didn't test USB 3.1 and USB TypeC. everything worked just fine. Yassinex posted his EFI and Config files for EL Capitan and I tested them. Everything works just fine on my computer now and I migrated from Yosemite to El Capitan.

You can give Yassinex's folder a try and see how it works out.

  4. You can find my GA-Z170X-Gaming 5 Working Solution : Here

I'm using the beta BIOS F5c : which activate Thunderbolt 3. You unlock MSR,  disable IOAPIC 24-119 entry with this version VS F4

  5. hello all , I install Yosemite with Clover , so far so good except when I restarts , the gain " iMix " starts a 0 and I must increase at each reboot to have the sound in " VoodooHDA PANEL" . I want to know a bit more to properly configure my DELL OPTIPLEX 760.

    Sorry, I bad English

When you install VoodooHDA it also installs an application called "VoodoHdaSettingsLoader" in your application folder, you have to put it in your Login Items so it remembers your last settings.

  6. 1st, copy and overwrite my EFI folder to your EFI partition. 2rd, remove all about AppleHDA lines from Kernel And Kext Patches. At last, download the audio_cloverALC-110.command.

I just did that on a fresh OS and the result was I could see the devices in system preferences but there was no sound, none whatsoever.

I also tried what bomerr said but still nothing :(

on the other hand voodooHDA 2.8.8 is working just fine which makes me wonder why toledo's script doesn't work for me.

Maybe that's because i didn't patch the DSDT for my system but as I understand you didn't use DSDT yourself.

The only patch I found in your DSDT was: "Rename HDAS to HDEF" which I used exactly as you did.

One more thing SMBIOS for new iMac 17,1 won't work for me so I have to change it to iMac 15,1 and I wonder why?!

Another wird thing is every once in a while my system crashes and I get the BIOS error which asked me to load default settings. I patched my BIOS to disable IOAPIC 24-119 Entries. Does any of you guys having the same problem??

  7.  Oh, sorry, I forget upload.

I am looking at this guide about USB 3.0 issue, but I see also do not understand.

    http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capitan-desktop-guides/179221-skylake-starter-guide.html

    Here is the thread.

    http://www.tonymacx86.com/desktop-compatibility/176407-testing-thread-skylake-platform-os-x.html

    Thanks a lot,

But what ever I do I can't get the audio to work, it show the devices and all the input/output sources but still no sound!

  8. Hi Majonez,

    good work, thanks.

    I do have 16GB 2800 MHz DDR4, but it shows 16GB 3200 MHz DDR4.

    Any idea?

    Hi Majonez,

You can fix your memory info with clover configurator under SMBIOS's memory section. Pick and type the correct memory info and it will show correctly in About This Mac and System Profiler.

  9. Hi,

Thank you, I have the same problem with usb 3.0. You can try this audio driver, I run it perfect.

     https://github.com/toleda/audio_CloverALC

    Did you patch your DSDT?

It doesn't seem to work for me, I didn't patch my DSDT and it gives me some error about IOReg/HDEF; BIOS/Audio/disabled or APIC problem.

So I decided to give the good old Yosemite a shot, and bam! it was up an running in no time, USB 3.0 ports working just fine, Audio is to be tested.

I'll update you guys as soon as I complete the process.

    Cheers!

  10. Hello,

Could you please share your EFI folder ? I have that exactly same motherboard - Z170X Gaming 5, And I edit my dsdt and ssdt unsuccessful.

    Hi,

Here is my EFI folder link.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/win6k4lvfndnz8p/EFI.zip?dl=0

I still have trouble with My USB 3.0 ports, I haven't found a working solution for my USB ports and Intel HD 530 is not yet fully functional.

Besides there is a wierd problem sometimes when i right click on an item my finder freezes and the Beach Ball won't stop sppining so i have to reset the computer. It's been solved by disabling "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" in Energy Saver preferences.

For Audio I used VoodooHDA 2.8.8 and it only works on front panel audio not back panel! Solved by using Yassinex's configurations.

I hope you find the EFI folder useful.

  11. Did you disable IOAPIC in your BIOS? If you don't have this option, you need Pike's kext patch.

As a matter of fact, I did both, first I patched the bios because I had trouble booting into Mac OS installer then i used Pike's patch to see if SATA works. After a lot of  rebooting and changing configuration I was able to install OS on a SATA HDD, but it's a work in progress. I have no audio yet and didn't have time to work on it.
