  1. El Capitan 10.11 & R9 290X * 2

So I got everything up and running in 10.11.2, but I have 1 issue. If I do a fresh boot, my video works perfectly. Full QE/CI everything works perfectly. If I turn the monitor off or let the monitor go to sleep, when it comes on again I will have horizontal waves of sync loss that will continue until I reboot. QE/CI and hardware acceleration still work ok. I can play 4k videos smoothly and run 3D programs, there's just glitchy-ness. If I reboot it will work rock solid for hours and hours, until I let it sleep or turn off the monitor again. Also, it works perfectly fine in Windows. 4930k 32Gb Ram Sapphire Radeon 290x Gigabyte X79-UP4 Dell 2715Q 4k monitor with latest A03 firmware revision. Running at native 4k @ 60hz resolution on Displayport
  2. Only thing that is weird though is that I can connect the drive to my Macbook Pro Retina with USB3 and it works flawlessly. Maybe it's an incompatibility between the enclosure chipset and my motherboard USB3 chipset..
  3. So I have a bit of an odd problem I've not run into before. I picked up a pair of 5Tb Seagate external USB3 drives to use as an off-site backup. I can transfer around 40Gb before it stops responding and I have to unplug and re-plug the drive. This happens with both drives. I don't often copy this volume of data. Mostly it's limited to copying movies and other smaller items to a USB stick or something and USB3 has always worked fine otherwise. System Specs: Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 Intel i7 4930k Mac OS 10.10.3 with clover boot loader and rampagedevs dmg package. From what I can tell it uses a pair of Fresco FL1009 USB3 chips. I tried the drives in my Macbook Pro Retina and it worked flawlessly at USB3 for a terabyte, no issues. If I connect it to the USB2 port, it works fine as well, but is pretty slow (Currently at 600Gb in 6 hours ) i'm pretty sure I've been able to copy 3Tb or so of data on this computer before when I was on Mavericks and it worked ok (I think, but that was with a Western Digital external. My plan is to try that once this is done copying) Anyone run into this before? I'm not opposed to getting a PCIe USB3 card if I knew that would make USB3 work properly.
  4. R9 290X Help for mavericks

Looks like the new retina iMac uses a m290x or m295x which means we'll have pretty good support it looks like!
  5. R9 290X Help for mavericks

Not sure if it applies at all, but I'm still running the netkas package on 10.9.3 with a 290x. I'm using displayport with an apple cinema display and it works perfectly.
  6. R9 290X Help for mavericks

Wait, you guys can't get displayport to work? I'm using Displayport just fine, though every 5-10min I get a slight flicker sometimes. I'm using a Sapphire reference 290x > displayport to minidisplayport adapter to displayport extension cable to Apple Cinema Display.
  7. R9 290X Help for mavericks

Just tried out the Netkas package and can confirm it's working 100% with my 290x. Fast too..
  8. R9 290X Help for mavericks

From what I've read it does not work natively yet, but I have a 290x so I have not tested it. You will likely have to inject the device ID.
  9. R9 290X Help for mavericks

Here is my ioreg. Running 10.9.3 with the 10.10 AMD Kexts. 4930k Gigabyte X79 UP4 (working thanks to your DMG's) Sapphire R9-290x https://www.dropbox.com/s/xv0kc5zkblc91uu/Anthony%E2%80%99s%20Mac%20Pro.ioreg
  10. R9 290X Help for mavericks

Netkas is saying that the 290x works out of box in 10.10 with QE/CI. Might have to try this out tonight. From what I've read only the 290x is recognized, you may have to inject device-ID's to get it to recognize the 290. But under Mavericks you will NOT have QE/CI yet with those kexts. It will show more properly and have the correct resolution, but no hardware acceleration.
  11. R9 290X Help for mavericks

I can confirm that it does detect it using those kexts. And it defaulted to the correct 2560x1440 resolution for my cinema display, but there is no QE/CI yet. This is a big step in the right direction though! If these drivers are in 10.10 beta, there's a chance they'll be in the 10.9.4 release
  12. R9 290X Help for mavericks

You should package those up and send em over haha. Does hardware acceleration work well?
  13. R9 290X Help for mavericks

I think that's just injecting the device name, but not actually giving QE/CI and hardware acceleration. Notice the 7Mb framebuffer size
  14. R9 290X Help for mavericks

Where did you get the UEFI Bios from? And which 290x do you have? I've been looking all over for one, and Sapphire support is a total joke to get anything from. Only one I found with UEFI support was a gigabyte one, but my computer wouldn't boot with that rom.
  15. R9 290X Help for mavericks

Now that you mention this, after doing some searching it looks like the 290x does not normally support UEFI. Supposedly there is a UEFI specific VBIOS you can flash. I'm going to hunt that down today and give it a try. Edit: I've sent a request to sapphire to obtain the UEFI specific bios as it's not readily available online. I'll let you guys know how it goes! **fingers crossed **
