  1. hey folks! long time no see, but i have some positive news this time. i found out the proper way to implement this driver, so i'll be making a new attempt at it using the latest openbsd source. to make a long story short, i was instantiating all sorts of iokit objects improperly... dumb. today i worked on a proof of concept thinger to verify the macOS side of things, and that's confirmed working. so ya. like the messaging calls between my driver and the rest of the IOKit stack. it takes me a lot of time to write these drivers, if you would like to support my work, please kindly consider making a donation. with this driver it is possible we'll be able to boot macOS and use macOS on our SD cards wouldn't go far without all your help, if only testing!!

  2. I am unsure, I was doing well for a while but then I had some seizures over a few days before my birthday and I feel like my brain got fried, maybe you have noticed I keep mixing words up and having to fix them in edits later. Thanks for asking though. I'm currently trying to finish this semester finals which includes a project, and I have another class and three research papers to complete for publication over the summer, not to mention the worst schedule for fall I could imagine (two of my days are 8am to 10pm), so I guess I don't know really at all. I think I have had a meaningful contribution to this community, I don't know how much more I can contribute at this point. I think my time may be better spent on more generalized research because I comfortably think those guys are all capable of continuing to advance the work being done in this community. This is only a small subset of very specialized research. I'm also further limited in what I can do because I'm in the US, so I can't help to reverse anything and write code for what was reversed, I have to do one or the other because of the law. Which should explain my behavior of trying to get other people to help me when I talk about making changes to some parts. Also, I deliberately made some decisions that I knew would force others to do stuff... And probably made them upset with me in different ways... I will probably still be around for advise and stuff but at this point I think it might be time to pass the torch... IDK..

  4. How to make it working under Big Sur 11.3+ How to resolve a problem in Sonoma About sound quality Some users claim that using VoodooHDA they hear loud bump at system start and sound in system comes with noise. Although this can be repaired with existing drivers I propose a version that do this automatically. It started silently and have very clear output. The file is compiled as 32/64 and works from 10.6 up to 10.12. VoodooHDA.kext-289.zip The sources is in my signature. There is a VoodooHDA,prefPane compatible with Sierra VoodooHDA.prefPane-289.zip Now there is a version 2.9.0 by Zenith432. It can work with multichannel sound and play it on 5.1 analog system. VoodooHDA.kext-2.9.0d8.zip 27.04.2017 d10 - Fix issues involving AudioControls VoodooHDA.kext-2.9.0d10.zip 20.11.2018 Fix issue with scratch on slow CPU VoodooHDA.kext-291SSE.zip 04.05.2019 More checks for memory allocation. More clear sound anyway. VoodooHDA.kext-292.zip IOAudioFamily.kext.zip -- it's a pity this kext works up to 10.14.5 and is not working in 10.14.6 and up. AppleHDADisabler.kext.zip 10.10.2020 The version is compiled under BigSur and is working here VoodooHDA.kext-295.zip AppleHDADisabler is not used. DSDT has a device HDAS and not HDEF so why there is no conflict with AppleHDA. Version 2.9.8 - corrected one possible error may leading to KP. VoodooHDA.kext-298.zip Version 2.9.9 - some corrections to Mic detecting. Use these version with precaution. Be ready to return to 298. VoodooHDA.kext-299.zip Version 3.0.2 - compiled with XCode 14.1 under Ventura and worked under Ventura and Sonoma VoodooHDA.kext-302.zip

  7. Just so you all know I actually have done something. I have pushed the source to both my github and to sourceforge, please commit to the experimental branch and I will merge it into the stable branch once it is safe. Also, nothing meaningful happens yet so don't get too excited. Only the Visual studio build works right now. I haven't set up the Xcode or Makefile builds yet, I'm trying to do them now. https://github.com/apianti/Clover https://sourceforge.net/p/cloverefiboot/Clover IA32/X64/ARM/ARM64 testing ISO (6/7/2018): Clover-3.0-experimental.iso

  8. Sound Blaster is not conforming HDA specification so it will not work with generic driver like VoodooHDA.

  13. There is no official support for your GPU in macOS and you need to install the nvidia web drivers which there are none available for macOS Mojave, You either need to use macOS High Sierra or you need to wait for nVidia to release the web drivers for macOS Mojave.

  14. @goodguess did you remove the HD3000 kexts before you tried to update to 10.14.4? -- take at look at the post about this. remove HD 3000 kexts update to 10.14.4 put 10.14.3 frames in place put HD 3000 kexts back in place. as far as a replacement - there seems to be plenty of options. i was really happy with T460 and will buy one for my son soon. @davidian the most recent zip on works with mojave, highsierra and sierra. i use the same Clover ( config and kexts) in the ESP to triple boot all 3 OS.

  15. @goodguess: related the unwanted uefi boot options. I had the same issue a couple of years ago. I don't remember exactly the method I used, but it was not difficult to get rid of them. Start with a search for "clean uefi boot options", and refine your search from there, you'll find videos and examples as well on how to do it. I see in your signature you use macos Sierra with T420. You use tluck's ESP files (if so, the most recent, or older ones), or your own?

  17. First of all to upgrade from original Apple NVMe SSD to M.2 NVMe SSD like Samsung 970 You will need to buy an adapter like this: You can use any M.2 NVMe SSD drive, but I would not offer you to choose any of them except Intel 760p 256GB/512GB/1TB. The reason is simple - everybody who faced with such upgrades know that after installing Samsung SSD, WD SSD or others you wil have problems with waking your Mac from sleep(it will reboot each time, or you will have to switch "deep sleep" off) and also you will have problems with reboot(on reboot it will show you folder with a question mark, so you will have to shut Mac down and switch it on again). With Intel 760p SSD's you won't have such problems. It is very easy to explain why - original Apple SSD takes 2.3A of current at peak load. At the same time Samsung SSD's and others take over 2.5A of current on peak load, but Macs logic board was developed to let this part consume 2.3A of current. This means that your Mac won't be able to feed these SSD's at peak loads. At the same time Intel 760p SSD takes only 1.3-1.4A of current at peak load. With it all Macs functions will work perfectly, won't give extra heat(as Samsung or others) and even save a little bit of energy when working on battery. Yes, Intel is a little bit slower than Samsung, but simple user won't be able to notice the difference in working speed. So my advice to all who upgrades from OEM SSD is to switch to Intel 760p. Update: This info is only for 2015 year. 2013-2014 probably will will have all mentioned problems even with Intel 760p because they had problems even on OEM SSD drives. From my upgrade practice only 1 of 3 Macs worked without problems. Can't tell why.

  18. Yes, VoodooHDA worked with STAC92xx codec. Tested on my old computer. But don't expect all workaround will be applied automatically. You have to find what to fix manually. Next version 2.9.2. More checks for memory allocation to help with problematic chips. I also recommend to replace system's IOAudioFamily by this one. It compiled from 10.13.6 sources with some additional optimization. Tested on my notebook. See downloads in the topic.

  19. Hi @apianti how are you doing? I hope everything is good and you are feeling better. I'm just curious to know if there's gonna be a clover V3 now that the OpenCore is in development and as far as I know you are devoting time to its development and thanks for that Best Regards

  20. Yeah, not even close to a rebranding of clover. Clover is monolithic, and a bunch of old projects (~2011) stitched together and made to work in UEFI. There should be a huge difference in performance in everything. Also, did you notice the part where I said because it is modular the GUI would not be a requirement? Some people want their machine to behave exactly like a mac would which means the ability for a GUI boot selector. EDIT: Also maybe some people just have an easier time with GUIs, it would make sense because why bother having a GUI and not just go back to DOS or UNIX?

  21. OpenCore is working 100% for me for both Mojave 10.14 and Sierra 10.12 on both my systems , and to add a GUI isn't an idea that i would like to see, it performs very well and as stated in a previous post it's modular and properly structured, adding a GUI frontend would just make this a rebranding of clover which this isn't. Configuration for Opencore is easy enough once you get your head round the documentation which this is updated daily with new information, However i know these guys are working at better file logging for debugging purposes, and Certain NVMe Boot Structures need fixing, but this all takes time. Other then that i'm super happy with the way this project is progressing. It's best to remember this is only an early dev version and people need to stay patient and give thanks to the incredible people including @vit9696 for quick bug tracking responses and working so hard to make this a great alternative for the community. The Performance of my systems are amazing compared to clover.

  25. Is this what you mean? Cause I've got the exact same issue ever since I bought the RX 580. Things I've noticed so far: 1. it doesn't always happen. But it does happen A LOT! 2. I'm not sure if it's from the monitor or something else (maybe FreeSync...though it seems unlikely), but it doesn't seem to happen to other people with RX 580! So I'm not sure it's the card either! 3. It's unrelated to WEG and such. update: also, this occurs with HDMI/DVI/DP. This is driving me crazy! IMG_0649.MOV
