Need for realtek drivers for card RTL8101E

Hello,

I bought the notemook Toshiba Satellite A110-378 and after the OSX installation I had 2 problems, network & audio didn't work. I followed a guide to enable audio successfully. I'm now trying to find info about the network.

I have a Realtek and on Linux I had to download the drivers from Realtek home site. The driver supports these cards:

1. RTL8169S/SB/SC (Gigabit Ethernet with PCI interface)

2. RTL8168B (Gigabit Ethernet with PCI-Express interface)

3. RTL8101E (Fast Ethernet with PCI-Express interface)

Is there any way to enable my network card under moac osx? I think that my network card is the third.

Thx a lot,

Mauro

Well, it's a PCI-E network card. Is thereanyone that can help me setting it up?

Not until you know what model you have. As you can see by my previous answer, the solution is different (or nonexistent) depending upon what model you have. It's sort of like saying I have a car and it doesn't run. What's wrong with it? Without specific information, there is no way to know.

Go to Windows. Go to Device Manager. Find your ethernet card under Network Devices. Read the model number. Get Properties on the device. Click the Details tab. Get the vendor id and device id (following VEN and DEV).

This is the output of "lspci -nvv" about my network card:

I think that 10ec = VENDOR ID and 8136 = DEVICE ID

On linux I use a driver from realtek that supports model specified in my first post.

There is no history on the board of anyone getting your ethernet card to work. If you are brave, you can try the following:

- Use Terminal to edit a file using the following command:

sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext/Contents/Info.plist

- Change the string "0x813910ec" to "0x813610ec"

- Press Control-O to save and Control-X to exit.

- Use Terminal to delete a couple of cache files and repair permissions:

sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
(give your password)
sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache
sudo diskutil repairPermissions /

- Reboot

If this causes problems, repeat the process and restore the "8136" back to "8139"
