Greetings:

I'm still working on getting my system fully working with all the qwirks out but I had a crazy time getting the LAN card to work so I wanted to post the way to get it to work. I'll post full a full guide on tonymacx86 when I get finished.

Here's older related threads:

[system Specs]

Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 (Laptop)

CPU: i5-2450

Audio: Realtek ALC269 HD

Vidoe: Intel HD3000

6G RAM

[Realtek RTL8101E / RTL8136 Details] (From Windows HWInfo64)

RealTek Semiconductor RTL8101/2/3 Family Fast Ethernet NIC

Vendor Description: Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller

Maximum Link Speed: 100 Mbps

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_04D81028&REV_05

[install Steps]

[step 1]: Download the official Realtek driver for mac 10.7 (listed "MacOS 10.7 on Intel-based Mac computer", filename "RTGNICv2.0.6For10.7"):

http://www.realtek.c...3&GetDown=false

[step 2]: Install the package. You'll be forced to reboot.

[step 3]: Once back in OSX, you'll have to create an Ethernet adapter for your location. When you do, you'll need to manually configure the hardware for that adapter. See below:

(System Configuration Menu -> Network -> Ethernet -> Advanced -> Hardware)

Configuration: manual

Speed: 10baseT/UTP

Duplex: Fullduplex

MTU: Standard (1500)

These instructions taken from this post at osx86.net (using different drivers):

http://www.osx86.net...do=file&id=1825

I can confirm that this works. I'm using my RTL8136 to make this thread. :)

Thanks for all the great info on this board and I hope this helps someone.

also RTG 2.0.6 has wakeup issues on some boards. (black screen wake)

try Lnx2Mac driver Mr 3 post guru!

Sorry to make you butt-hurt for trying to help out.

...and i did try the latest Lnx2Mac drivers - neither release or debug found my card (didn't show in System Info). The official RTG did find my card. Maybe you should take your attitude somewhere else Mr. I'm-So-Awesome?

hows the sleep/wake mr 3 post guru. btw i see its not gigabit lan.. rather 100mb..and u set to 10mb.

im not claiming to have an awesome fix (that might break sleep) with 3 posts in my name.. not trying to discredit u but test your resolutions before u claim victory.

yes u can surf but now your wake probably doesnt work... if it ever worked. probably not. (if it did and now it dont.. try version 2.04 or 2.05)

(i rather buy a supported gigabit card . ahh u bought a laptop)

youll do great at tonywhack86.. ohh wait member since aug 2011 .. 2 posts.. yep youre doing great things!.

While this DOES allow for the Realtek RTL8101E/RTL8102E to work and actually get a connections (instead of the dreaded "self-assigned IP" and/or no connection message), it is still a temporary fix in that the card is only operating at 1/10th its optimal speed.

Anybody have success in finding a kext to run this sucker at full 100mb connectivity?

I've tried:

Lnx2Mac's driver (http://lnx2mac.blogspot.ca/p/realtekrtl81xx-osx-driver.html)

Slice's driver: http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2608

Mieze's driver: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/287161-new-driver-for-realtek-rtl8111/

and Realtek's official driver: http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

and only Realtek's with the manual settings below work:

Configuration: manual
Speed: 10baseT/UTP
Duplex: Fullduplex
MTU: Standard (1500)

This however is not good enough for me; Looking for a better solution and will post back my results should I find any improvement.  Any help is appreciated.

many many thanks for this. After days looking for a driver for my laptop Inspiron 3521 (Realtek 8101E) and headache in trying solutions from Mieze, Rehabman etc... I have tried this and it works perfectly on Sierra 10.12.5 ! The only thing is that the card appears in my Ioreg as RTL8169.
