Shinodan
Hi there folks! So ive been looking into installing any version of OSX with my new PC that ive built, i have concerns now that im into my 3rd day of relentless failure im crying out for some help, ive tried lion and leopard different versions of each, i fear it could be my hardware, as practically no component on my computer is listed in the reccomended build page. (links to screens of my system are below along with the panic screenshot i get everytime!) http://desmond.image....png&res=medium http://desmond.image....png&res=medium http://desmond.image....png&res=medium Ive tried so many methods of installation, used legacy booters, AMD hackintosh builds, VMware and virtualbox but to no avail. I had an early copy of snow leapoard running on vmware, but nothing worked so it was just usless. Any pointers or any could of help is greatly appreciated! Even the slap in the face "You will never run mac" will suffice and put me out of my mysery. Thanks! Daniel
guitmz
what is your motherboard? give us some more info on ur system... also dont bother trying lion as it wont work with amd yet (no legacy kernel so far).. try retail snow leo, iatkos and snow leo by director A.K (thepiratebay have all)
Shinodan
Sorry, forgot to mention that one haha I have an ASrock 970 Exreme 3, 16 gig ram. Ive went through so many different copies of leopard but i will look into your suggestion thanks!
guitmz
yeah for retail snow leopard, use nawcom mod cd to boot.. for iatkos v7, leohazard and director A.K u wont need it as it will boot from the dvd itself.. if u have more info on ur system like LAN, video, etc post here
Shinodan
My video card is listed in the screenshots (radeon HD 6770) along with my cpu-z screenshot. Both network and sound are realtek.
guitmz
i guess ur video, sound and lan will work on snow leo.. sound and lan for sure will
Shinodan
So all i need to do really is just try again but with the Nawcom bootloader?, I had a copy with the pre installed drivers for AMD but that didnt work either, used a legacy ##### too. Why is nawcom's bootloader different ?
guitmz
nawcom is better, detects system way better than ##### legacy and will prob be the best for AMD + retail snow leopard 10.6.. try it wont cost u anything and should work hehe after installing, u need to install the bootloader (chamaleon/chimera). if u dont, u will only be able to boot with nawcom cd
Gagarin
Did you try iAtkos? I successfully installed Leopard with version v7, however I could not make my graphics card working (I had one small resolution mode only during and after installation). Now I try to use iAtkos L2, but everything freezes right on a grey screen after booting. What method you would recommend for newbie like I'm?
guitmz
retail installation of lion! google it for the method (usb method is better). for enabling ur graphics, u can try chimera/chamaleon (last versions) with graphicsenabler=yes
Gagarin
You mean ##### + Lion DVD method? Will that recognize my hardware better than IAtkos Lion version? (Sorry Shinodan for hijacking your thread)
guitmz
##### + retail lion dvd or u can make a bootable usb to install lion (search google, i dont think i'm allowed to give details about the application that does that, but there is at least 2) it will perform a clean installation of lion.. then to make stuff work, install the chimera and kexts u need. its the best way to have a good osx installation
Gagarin
how do you install kexts and where to find them for my hardware?
Shinodan
My thread hijacked you Im getting iatkos now, hope it will work... :/
guitmz
kexts.com is a good place to start and the app to install is kext utility... also there is some post install tools as ####### (cant say the full name here, sorry) that will install chimera and has a list of several kexts.. u should google and install the kexts that are related to ur motherboard My thread hijacked you Im getting iatkos now, hope it will work... :/ the best way still is the retail one, more smooth.. but sure, if iatkos works, then u should be fine.. dont forget to check amd patch/legacy kernel on customization
Shinodan
I found 10.6 snow leopard final retail version, will this be the one i need for booting with nawcom?
Gagarin
The only iAtkos that works for me is v7 (Leopard), and id did not recognized my AMD 5770 at all. Whenever I try to install Mult****ast to upload drivers, I was not able to reboot it anymore Same think after making an update. Is there a command for my card to work right away? On wiki website I found that: Device ID-0x68B8 OSX 10.6.7 ###### 3.2 ##### 2.7/ ATI drivers from 3.4 using Notshy's method FrameBuffer=Vervet / ATI Experimental Chameleon Boot - ###### 3.3.0 - GraphicsEnabler=Yes - 64 bit=YES!! How should I use it? Can you tell me what options I should pick in iAtkos for my hardware to work? My thread hijacked you Im getting iatkos now, hope it will work... :/ Which version you will get? L1, L2?
guitmz
I found 10.6 snow leopard final retail version, will this be the one i need for booting with nawcom? yes, nawcom will add the retail fixes itself such as legacy kernel. Which version you will get? L1, L2? he cant use iatkos l1 nor l2 because he is on amd system and on such system he cant install lion yet, just snow leopard. so for ur issue i suggest u to reinstall the system using the retail lion as ####### works better with retail installations! after installing with retail method, run ########, install the kexts u need + chimera and set boot flag to graphicsenabler=yes and u should get graphics
Gagarin
I see... now, before even asking about installation of kexts, chimera and setting a bootflag I need to know what nawcom is. Is it a new method?
guitmz
nawcom is a boot cd just like #####... u can try it as well.. nawcom is universal (amd + intel) and ##### is intel only, thats why i said to him to use nawcom, because he uses amd
Gagarin
Ok. I learned something. I tried that iAtkos L1 as well - no success. Btw, anyone knows what caused that error? Saturday I will go to Apple store and buy that Lion Jumpstick and maybe than I will have Apple OS.
Shinodan
neither worked. Cry.
Gagarin
Do not worry. We will figure it out. Somebody will help us. Did you try iAtkos v7?
PookyMacMan
For a fine retail installation (any chipset, any CPU, any Snow Leopard), look at the guide in my signature. It is a detailed method of using the OSX86 ModCD (the name of the updated version of the nawcom ModCD).Feel free to ask questions here or there. My opinion: the ModCD is the best way to install because it will actually patch an unmodded retail DVD on the fly with boot loader, drivers, kernel, and allowing installation on MBR so it is just like any of the illegal distros, but it is still legal. Gagarin, the Lion USB drive is not bootable; it is just the Install Mac OS Lion app on a flash drive. Now you can make a bootable DVD/USB drive with the app or flash drive, but the USB drive from the Apple Store will not do the trick
Gagarin
Ok. I'm after few unsuccessful attempts of Installing of Lion 10.7.2 with your PookyMacMan method. I boot into OSx86Mod cd, than I swap discs into OSX 10.7.2 Lion and refresh menu with F5. Here is what I got. I try mach_kernel and still nothing. Here is what I got: Now I have no idea what to do. With Snow Leopard disc (ver 10.6 - the only one I have) it is going to installer, however in low resolution mode (no Ethernet, no graphics card) What to do to install that Lion? Change Busrate?
